Amanda's POV I watched Adam close the gates after Anthony sauntered in. I then looked at Anthony. "You just had to take yout sweet time didn't you?" Anthony shrugged. "There was nothing to be scared of." I leaned against the wall and closed my eyes. Anthony was making my blood boil. I felt Adam sit next to me and looked at him. Adam looked completely exhausted. "I'm guessing we're going to rest here for a bit?" Adam nodded and leaned back against the wall. Anthony shrugged "I'm not tired." I looked at Anthony "Because you didn't do anything!" Anthony shrugged and leaned back on the opposite wall. I sighed and looked at the ground in thought. Why were there so many parasites and infected people all of the sudden? Maybe because the people may have fled to this side of the mall and got infected here or maybe more people were on this side. I shook my head and closed my eyes. All I knew was that we were just having a few at a time then suddenly hundreds appear. I look at Adam who seemed to be in deep thought. I then looked at Anthony who was sleeping. That's when I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. I didn't pay attention to it first. But it kept on buzzing so I took it out and saw I had a new message. "Adam..." "What is it Amanda?" I opened the text message and read it. "I just got a text message from my dad." Adam took my phone and read it. He gave it back to me sadly. "So the whole town is infected." I nodded. "I'm just glad that to know that there are people who are still alive." Adam nodded and looked at the ground going back into his thoughts. I texted my dad back and found out that mom was dead and my brothers were infected. I felt a tear run down my cheek but quickly wiped it away. This wasn't the time for mourning. I had to focus on what was happening now. ------------------------
Adam's POV I saw the sadness in her eyes, along with the determination flooding away. But I knew somewhere in there she had the will to keep going. We couldn't give up now. My shirt was off, and I saw my bandage still there, but stained red. I pulled it off, and saw my wound was closed. It was still scarred, but it was closed. I saw we were in the clothing store we were in earlier. I got up slowly, putting my hand below me as I eased up. I walked over to a rack and grabbed a blood-red shirt. When I was done I walked back over to Amanda, and sat down slowly next to her. She looked away, but I caressed her cheek and pulled her face back over. All her toughness was breaking away, but I could see the slightest glimmer of her hope still there. "It's okay." I said, before pulling her into a hug. Nothing was okay, everything was turning into hell. But saying it was, and having the hope it would turn back into the normality we all loved, kept us alive. Sure, it may have been full of promiscuous women in revealing clothes, mean guys, and rude people in general, but it was better than this. People getting their feelings hurt, over getting killed would be better any day. We sat their for about ten minutes just holding each other, trying to feel safe. Anthony was sighing, and acting annoyed, but I really didn't care. Amanda finally got up, grabbed a bat from the bag and walked towards Anthony. She swung for his leg first, I could hear his knee almost pop out of place as her sickening blow hit. Then she put the bat above her head, and swung down hitting his ribcage. He was literally crying, and Amanda looked full of rage. She dropped the bat, and it landed on the floor with a hollow noise, bouncing at the impact, and rolling a little ways before it came to a stop. She looked at Anthony like she was going to kill him. "All we've done is save your ass! All you repay us with is sarcasm, rudeness, and flirting! You don't want to get killed? Do something useful! Don't sit there and wait for us to do everything you son of a *****!" She yelled kicking him one more time in the face, before she beckoned me over to start moving again.
