"Find Fletcher and Otto!" I took one last glance at Jodiiee, my view only to be blocked by a Horntail immediately.

I furrowed my eyebrows. These Horntails were gonna get their ass whooped.

"Ready guys?" I asked, the last we would talk for hours.
    Naomi and Apoc grunted.

We charged. Apoc, igniting his blue aura, changed his arm into a sword, jumped, and sliced off the ear of the Horntail to the left.

Naomi, enveloped by a yellow aura, fired a bolt of lightning from her fist, and it immediately disorientated the Horntail to the right. I jumped onto it's head, and dealt the finishing blow through it's scalp with a scythe. It fell to the ground from mid-air, blown up a thick layer of dust. Naomi fired another bolt of lightning, followed by another, much stronger one, at the Horntail wrestling with Apoc. Apoc was stuck, trying to wrestle and keep the Horntail's jaw open. Fortunately, the Horntail was destroyed, disintegrated to nothing, and Apoc nodded a silent word of thanks to Naomi.

We all turned to face the last Horntail. The largest. It hovered in the air, smoke billowing out of it's gigantic nostrils. With every beat of it's wings, the ground rumbled.

All of a sudden, it lunged forward. All of us jumped aside in time, dodging it's first attack. It turned to me and Apoc, spewing fire from it's mouth. Apoc changed his arm into a shield, and saved is both from the fatally dangerous fire.

"Stay with Naomi," I instructed, "Keep her safe."

Apoc dashed over to Naomi, and we awaited for the Horntail's next attack. Then Naomi, with unbelievable speed, teleported on top of the Horntail. She fired two bolts from her fists into the winged beast's eye. It writhed in pain, screeched in pain, and shook Naomi off it's head.

Naomi landed with a loud thud next to Apoc, but was not injured.

Apoc changed both his arms into Gattling Guns, emptying their magazines on the Horntail. The bullets deflected harmlessly of it's thick hide. It did not flinch. I clambered forward towards me, it's head unnaturally turned to one side. When it faced me, I realized the reason to it's atypical behavior. One of it's eyes were blinded by Naomi's lightning. It could only see with one eye...

I jumped towards it's good eye, attracting it's attention. As if Apoc and Naomi could read my mind, they jumped, on cue, to the blind side of the Horntail, and started attacking the spaces in it's armor plated hide.

The beast screeched in agony and pain, it's facial muscles twitching, roaring in anger as it bore the pain.

And throughout this battle, no one spoke a word. Everyone understood the gravity of the situation. If anyone as much made a wrong move, it could mean death. And all of a sudden, I heard a cry from Apoc's mouth. He had been swiped off the Horntail by it's tail.

The whopping, gigantic tail was immensely dangerous, lethal. It had spikes throughout, and it looked like a club, except a few gazillion times lager. It smashed Apoc inti a building, the windows shattering, and as soon as the tail swung in a different direction, Naomi and I could see Apoc's blood smeared body in the building. I thought he was gone... Then he stood up, limping on one leg.

Naomi stood rooted to the ground in terror at what the Horntail could do; it's power, it's strength, it's lethality.

The Horntail took this opportunity, and it opened it's jaw, and lunged at Naomi. My eyes widened it shock. I dashed in front of Naomi, conjured a sword, the largest I could, but it was too late.

The Horntail's massive teeth sank into my flesh. However, it's mouth came straight into the path of my sword. It pierced the beast's throat, and it swung it to the side, ripping it's cheek in half. Green blood exploded everywhere. It fell to the ground, lifeless.

I grimaced and gritted my teeth as I dislodged my arm from it's jaw. It looked worse than I had expected. My shirt was soaked with crimson, and the wounds were deep enough. As I thought it couldn't be worse, a drop of purple dripped from my wound.

    Poison.

Then the world went upside down. I blacked out.

  5. Jodiiee

I finally saw Fletch and Otto in the distance. It looked like they had just finished tackling another horntail too.
They turned around to see me and Qin frantically running up towards them.
"Guys! Guys!! Quick, you gotta-" I screamed, leaving me so much out of breath that I couldn't finish my sentence.
I stopped and had to catch my breath. Fletch and Otto came running up.
    "What's happened?" asked Fletch, startled.
    "We..we found s,survivors" I breathed.
"They're with Josh, they n,need your help" I continued.
    Fletch and Otto exchanged glances.
"Where are they?" Otto asked me gently.
I pointed in the direction where everyone was.
"Stay here." said Fletch sternly. "If one of them horntails or them creatures come, use your powers, ok?" he said.
I gave him a blank stare.
"What? Why are you staring at me like that?" he asked suspiciously.
    "Jodiiee?" asked Otto concerned.
"We don't have any powers" I thought, whilst blankly staring into Fletch's face.
    "N,nothing" I said eventually. "Go.." I insisted.

Fletch and Otto ran off into the distance, leaving me and Qin alone.
I sat down on the road and Qin came to sit next to me. It was daylight now so we had full visibility again.
"Is Josh dead?" Qin asked me out of the blue.
I looked at her blankly, the same blank stare I had used with Fletch.
"Jodiiee?" she said, calling my name.
I quickly snapped out of it.
    "N,no Qin.. He's not" I said in a daze.
"I hope to God he's not dead.. I hope to God they're all not dead." I thought.

Qin gave me a hug, but I wasn't myself. Everything felt weird. Ever since i looked in the horntails eye, I would occasionally give a blank stare and wouldn't even know I'm doing it. It was mostly annoying because for one, the stare freaked people out, and secondly, I can't do anything about.

Over two hours past, I'm assuming, and there was still no news, still nobody running down the road.
"Where is everybody?" I kept thinking.
    "They have to be okay.."
Qin was pacing up and down along the pavement. I was still sitting on the road, watching what she was doing.
"Maybe we should continue?" suggested Qin.
    "No, that's a bad idea.." I replied.
"What about going back?" suggested Qin again.
"I want to Qin, I really do. But I have a feeling it will only make things worse. Besides, Fletch and Otto told us to stay here.." I told her.
Qin turned around to face me.
"Face it Jodiiee, they're not coming back. We've waited for ages and they're still not here! They've either forgotten about us or they're dead!" she cried, her voice growing louder.
"..Qin, that's not true.." I said, shaking my head in disagreement.
"Oh really? Prove it then! Because I can't see us getting out of this mess!" she said, tears building up in her eyes.
"Qin, don't think like that..have some faith.." I stammered.
"There's no such thing in faith.." she muttered, turning away.
I had never seen this side to Qin before..

I sighed and lay down on the floor.
"Where are you guys?" I thought to myself.

I looked up at the blue sky, noticing there wasn't a single cloud in sight, it was nice. I continued to stare. Everything started to change, kaleidoscope shapes and colors were forming in the sky. Was this all my imagination?
I suddenly snapped out of my daydreams due to Qin looking at me whilst I was on the floor.
"Jodiiee?" she questioned me, looking shocked.
"What?" I asked as I stayed laying down. It was comfy.
"Finally, I've been calling your name like, five times" she said, rolling her eyes.
"Uh, sorry..?" I said, pretty sure that she only said it once.
"It's okay, but.. I really need food" said Qin. She stood over me. I looked up at her.
    "..Okay...?" I said, totally confused.
"Well? I'm not gonna starve.." she said.
She looked funny because her head was upside down from my point of view. I chuckled to myself.
"What's so funny.." she asked with wide eyes. I think I wound her up.
    "Nothing." I laughed.
"Ugh." she sighed. She moved from above me and walked away.
"Qin. I'm hungry too.." I said getting up. "..But the least we can do is wait for everyone to get back.."
She turned around and looked at me, completely red in the face.
"THEY. ARENT. COMING. BACK!" she screamed.
    I was totally taken aback.
"Qin calm down.." I said, speechless.
"DON'T YOU GET IT? HOW MUCH PROOF DO YOU NEED TO KNOW THAT THEY'RE DEAD!" she continued screaming.
"OBVIOUSLY NOT ENOUGH!" I said, screaming back at her.
There was silence, both of us looking at each other with anger.

"..What just happened?" cried Qin quietly.
    "..I, I don't know.." I said, a tear streaming down my cheek.
    We had never argued before..
We slowly walked up to each other and gave each other a big hug, sobbing quietly.
"Come on.." I said, patting her on her back softly.
"Arguing isn't going to solve anything.." I laughed weakly.
    "You're right.." laughed Qin.
"But.. Did I say anything hurtful?" she asked me.
I tried to remember our argument, the words that were said. My mind had gone blank.
    "I.. I can't remember.." I said, looking confused.
    "Me either.." said Qin slowly.
"What did I say?" I asked her.
Qin thought, but slowly shook her head.
    "I... I can't remember.." she said slowly.
We looked at each other, worried.
"Woah.." we said, both at the same time.

Qin made her way back to the pavement and sat down near the curb. I plonked myself in the middle of the road and lay down again.
I went back into that stare, almost like a trance. I looked up at the sky, and blocked out the sound of Qin chatting away. It was like I was sleeping with my eyes open. It felt like I was at peace, something I hadn't had in a long time.. It felt wonderful.

  17. Chapter 4: Willpower

    Josh

My eyes widened abruptly, my nerves numb. I couldn't feel my right arm. Where was I? Were Naomi and Jodiiee safe? Then a whizzing sound exploded in the air. A beast of sort was clinging on to a Horntail, in a deadlock. It pushed down, and slowly, they arched down towards the ground. Towards me.

The Horntail was below the beast, and the beast was pushing the Horntail down, it's face in the beasts strong grasp. I could see Epic shouting something, and everyone looked at me. Then they all shouted desperately. The had realized the two creatures were headed straight for me.

Too late. I stared in disbelief, shock and terror. I just couldn't believe it. After all this, I would die, from an accident, and not in a fight? It was coming closer, with such velocity nothing could stop it in time. Closer, closer. I could smell the stale, pungent stink of the beasts. I shut my eyes tightly and whispered a final, silent prayer. I waited for the imminent pain, and eventually, death.

I waited, and waited. Nothing happened. Slowly, I re-opened my eyes. And then...

... Boom! Rubble and tar exploded from on top of me, in my lying position. Slowly, I turned on my side and looked up. A crater had been created in the middle of the road, the beast, purple fur all over, with two black wings on it back and to horns, towered over the fallen Horntail. Then it changed, into something smaller. Something human-sized.

It was Fletcher. I was taken aback. So this was Fletcher's power... It was amazing.

Then a burning sensation course through my right arm. Then it exploded with excruciating pain. I shouted in agony, and writhed on the Tarmac, my left hand clutching the right.

Naomi and the rest of the gang ran forward to me. Naomi crouched over me, and examined my wound.

    "It's getting worse... Epic!"

Epic crouched next to my right arm, and a blue shield enveloped my arm with a twist of his arm. It felt soothing, my arm not hurting as much as before. However, it still stung, and it was enough to male me break out in cold sweat.

"Naomi..." I managed to squeeze out her name, a lump forming on my throat.

"Don't worry Josh... You'll be fine. Promise. I'm... I'm sorry for earlier... I... I shouldn't have stood there! It's all my fault that you're hurt..." Naomi broke out in a fit of sobs.

"Don't... Don't think t... that way Lil'... Sis." My throat felt dry. I could hardly speak. "It's my duty... To... to protect... you."

My face was a deathly white, my lips pale. I looked like a lifeless body.

"This looks serious... We'll have to stay here a fair bit... It'll take some time to heal this." Epic cut in.

After ten minutes of awkward silence, everyone's eye glued in me, I decided to close my eyes. I dozed off without knowing.

My sleep was dreamless, except for a few shirt cuts, remembering the good old times I had with Naomi and Jodiiee. But, amidst the good, nice dreams, a dark one lurked at the edge of my mind, lying in wait.

The sky was blue, a few white clouds skidding across it. Jodiiee lay on the road, while Qin sat next to her. Qin said something, and soon, a dull fledged argument started. After a while, they stopped and apologized, but they didn't see what I cod from my perspective. High above them, hidden by the clouds, a Crimson Balrog lay in wait for the perfect time to strike, circling like a vulture over fallen prey...

I abruptly awoke, much to the surprise to Naomi. I sat upright, my shirt drenched in sweat.

"Jodiiee's in danger..." I need to go save her!" I exclaimed, slowly getting up, much to the displeasure of Epic

"You need to heal!" Naomi insisted, a tinge of annoyance in her voice.

"I need to save Jodiiee and Qin!" I argued. "Is Jodiiee that important to you?!" Naomi shouted, obviously furious.

"Yes. She is!" I said in a whisper. "You heard what the Prophecy said. If anyone of us dies, we have no chance! And above all that, she's been my best friend for ages. I will not desert her!" and without listening to Naomi, broke out in a sprint to where Jodiiee was. Fletcher joined me. One by one, Otto, Epic, Apoc, and finally Naomi made for the location of Jodiiee and Qin.

As we neared the girls' location, a single, terrified scream broke the silence and rent the air.

    It was Jodiiee's.

  18. This. Story. Is. Epic. Period.
