Jodiiee began reading. Her angelic voice rent the air.

"By the time you read this, Jodiiee, it is most likely that the Republic has fallen, and so has mankind. There will be ten of you, and only ten. You will be the last survivors on Earth. You have one chance, to save it. Your actions will determine whether you live or die. It will also affect your comrades, and the chance of saving Planet Earth. If not, it will fall to the clutches is evil.

All of a sudden, Jodiiee's hair started floating up, and around her a silver aura glowed.

"There are only five of you here. Josh, the Sorcerer of Light, and the Conjurer of Weapons. Jodiiee, the Girl Who Knows All. Epic, the Warlock of Fire and Healing. Otto, the Alchemist of Spells, and Fletcher, the Shaman of Beasts. You are five of the Legion of Ten. You can attempt, but you will never succeed on defeating evil without the combined power of the full legion.

  2. I know what other magic I want now! 

  3. And may I warn you, if any one of you falls in battle... The only hope of defeating evil will be dashed. There are five other survivors out there, who are vital to the success of defeating evil. Find them, and you may succeed. Along the way, you will face many obstacles. Some, will be easy to overcome. Others, will need your teamwork to overcome. Find the others. They will not be near, but in the various corners of Earth. Even the Republic is not allowed to interfere with destiny, but here is on clue: Kronos. Time. Austria. Now go, and fulfill your destiny."

With that, Jodiiee collapsed, but fortunately I ran up and caught her. She slowly opened her eyes, and she whispered, "What kind of baloney is that?"

Everyone chuckled, a little tinge of happiness igniting within us. I gave Jodiiee a quick kiss on the cheek and lifted her into my arms. Then I went over to a bookshelf and leaned her back against it.

"Guess we'll camp here for today... We'll find a way out tomorrow. Otto and Fletcher, you follow us. We're going to Austria."

"There are only six of you here. Josh, the Sorcerer of Light, and the Conjurer of Weapons. Jodiiee, the Girl Who Knows All. Epic, the Warlock of Fire and Healing. Qin, the Master of Telekinesis and Levitation. Otto, the Alchemist of Spells, and Fletcher, the Shaman of Beasts. You are six of the Legion of Ten.

  12. Jodiiee

I sat down on a little seat inside the library, watching Fletch and Otto pack up their things.
I watched Qin chatting to Josh, and I watched Epic looking at the golden book. Then I noticed him walking towards me, and sitting down next to me.
"Hey" I said gently with a welcoming smile.
"Hey" he replied. "So, what exactly was there in that book?" he asked me.
"Um, it was weird really. Something about there only being 10 survivors, we gotta find the rest". I continued.
    "Aha!" said Epic jumping up.
"I knew there'd be more! I knew there'd be more people!" he repeated. Someone was happy.

Once we were ready we made our way out of the library. I looked up at the sky, it was nice looking at the sky and knowing that something so plain, was still here, still comforting to have. A nice blue sky.
    "N'awwww" mumbled Josh.
    "What's wrong?" Qin asked.
"Our cars! They're not here." pointed out Josh.
"That's because we're in Austria, Vienna actually. We're right in the middle of the Imperial City" Fletch grinned, looking around.
"NO! MY CCAAAAARRRR!" cried Josh, dramatically falling to his knees.
    It made us all laugh.
"We'll find another one, don't worry about it man" said Epic, patting him on his back. He really liked patting people on his back.

It was odd, on our search for more survivors we couldn't find a single car in sight.
"There's gotta be some!" moaned Otto.
We continued walking for hours but we needed a car, and fast. The day was coming to an end and with street lamps not working any more, we could be doomed.
"Guys, we better start finding some place to stay." I shouted to the people walking in the front.
"Yeah, we'll find somewhere eventually. We gotta keep searching first!" shouted Fletch back.
I mumbled under my breath, and mimicked what he had just said.
We needed somewhere to stay before it was pitch black, and at this rate, my wish for that to happen, wasn't going to be granted.

We continued our journey through the imperial city, the weather slowly getting colder and colder as the night continued.
Walking next to me was Qin. I could tell she was getting tired because she was trailing at the back.
"Want a piggy back Qinny?" I asked her.
She just nodded at me, sleepily.
I hoisted her up on my back and continued on walking behind the others.

After a further more few hours of walking it was starting to get really dark.
"Guys, maybe we should start looking for somewhere to stay now? I called to them, desperate for them to acknowledge me.
"Nah, not yet. Keep on going!" said Otto, urging us all on.
I cursed under my breath. Qin was already asleep on my back, and my arms were starting to get a bit numb.
My walking pace started to slow down as I was starting to become more and more aware of my surroundings, more alert, just incase something was going to pop out and scare us, kill us, like the last time.
I thought back to what the book had read.
"The survivors won't be too hard to find"
"God, that books so full of crap" I said, mumbling under my breath.

I had to sit down. My feet were killing me from so much walking, and I desperately needed to stretch my arms to stop them from being so numb. I feared that I would drop Qin at any minute.
"Guys! I'm just having a rest for a second. Then we have to find a place to stay. Even if it is a house!" I said, giving a halfhearted laugh.
The boys ignored me, even Josh. They were too wrapped up in 'boy talk'.
    Right that's it.." I thought.
I walked over to an old brick wall and unsticked Qin off my back.
"What's going on?" yawned Qin sleepily.
"Nothing hun, I just need to sit down for a minute.." I said, smiling up at her.
She came and sat down beside me.
"Jodiiee, I'm cold, and I'm hungry.." she said.
I stroked her hair. "Don't worry. I'll fix that soon enough" I said, half hoping I would be able to.
She lay her head on my side, and I rested mine on hers. We started chatting and eventually I dozed off.

I woke around an hour later. I rubbed my eyes, and could just about make out seeing Qin fast asleep, again on me.
"Crap!" I cried. "No, no, no, no, no!".
I frantically woke up Qin, and told her we had to start moving.
The others must have continued on walking and not even noticed that we had gone. I couldn't hear them, and I defiantly couldn't see them. It was all practically pitch black.
"Qin, come on. We gotta catch up" I said, holding her hands as we got up off the bench.
"But I can't see anything. I'm scared.. I just want my brother" she cried.
I felt sorry for her. I mean, it was hard enough for me getting to grips with this whole situation, but for someone as young as her. I shuddered at the thought.
"It's ok Qin, just hold my hand and you'll be ok" I reassured her.
She squeezed my hands ever so tightly.
It was a good job it was so dark, it meant that it hid the fear in my face.

After a few attempts at trying to walk, me and Qin stopped in our tracks. I had to choose which path to take. I could barely see the paths, let alone know which one the guys had taken.
Qin hugged onto my leg, her hands tightly wrapped around mine.
I squinted into the darkness trying my best to look if I could see the others.

At that very moment, the whole street of street-lamps switched on, and a young girl was standing next to the one nearest me.
    "Going somewhere?" she asked me.
Qin screamed and dug her face into my back. The unexpected greeting terrified me. I was speechless, I just wanted to run.
"Because if you're going somewhere, I'd love to come with you!" she said excitedly. "And so would my friend, Apoc. Show yourself." she continued.
I looked around to see a young guy appear next to the girl.
"Who are you?" I asked them.
"We're survivors" explained the young girl. "This is Apoc and I'm Naomi. Apoc found me.. We thought we were the only ones left." she said.
"I'm Jodiiee, this is Qin" I said.
"So, we're the only four?" questioned Apoc.
"No, there's another four more somewhere. I was with them a while ago.. I've lost them." I said.
I looked at Apoc. One of his arms were normal, the other was a long, sword.
    He caught me looking.
    "What?" he asked.
"Uh.. Nothing. Well.. You have a sword as your arm!" I said startled.
"Oh, yeah, that." he laughed. "When I got really angry with those creatures I found out I could turn my body parts into whatever I wanted" he grinned.
"And i have all power over electricity" smiled Naomi.
"Right. Of course. Some of the others in the group have experience stuff like that too" I replied.
"What can you and Qin do?" Naomi asked me.
"Well...We're not entirely sure yet..still finding out I guess" I said.
"Are your friends somewhere safe?" Apoc asked, quickly.
"Well, the way they were all speeding off, it didn't look like they were gonna stay anywhere all night!" I replied.
"Then we should start finding them before sunrise." he continued.
    "Why then?" I asked.
"Thats the time where all those creatures like to do their hunting the most. Always at sunrise and sunset. They're just pushing their luck in the day." he said.

All four of us started to head off and find the other four. In my head i kept thinking of the golden book.
"We need ten survivors, and we already have eight. We're nearly there!" I thought. I held Qin's hand and we continued, whilst Naomi and Apoc walked alongside us. We had to find the others before anything else cropped up.
