We continued on searching for hours and hours, looking to see if there was any sign of life. Everything felt so surreal, that I was in a dream, or more like a nightmare.

We walked for miles until we came across a BMW car shop.
"Get a load of this!" said Josh. You could tell by his face that we had hit jackpot.
He smashed one of the windows, and we all followed inside. I did feel bad though when we smashed in, it was wrong and I felt like we were criminals. But I had to be realistic, who was here to stop us?

We all examined the different type of cars that were in store, and decided to take our pick. Jerry picked a 7 seated, silver BMW, Josh picked a dazzling black 4 seater, and I picked a dark navy blue 2 seater.
    "Nice car.." grinned Josh.
"I can say the same to you" I smiled.
"Here's all your keys." said Jerry. "You'll have to keep these safe, and we all have a spare key for each car.. Just incase.." he continued.
    "Alright" we grinned.
"And nobody goes different directions, ok? We all gotta stick together. And for the love of God, try not to run over the bodies.. Have a little respect" Jerry ranted on.
    "Got it." we repeated.
"Before we start heading off though, do you mind if we don't crash through the window? I don't wanna scratch the cars.." Josh added, sheepishly.
    "Fine" I mumbled.
After a couple of minutes of smashing down the window we came through, the space was big enough for all the cars to drive through.

We all climbed into our brand new cars, the smell of brand new leather was lovely, well, it was better than the foul stench of rotting blood to say the least. Josh was the first one to set off, slowly driving past all the glass, anxious that his car might get damaged. I followed slowly behind along with Jerry.

It was hard maneuvering my car around all the bodies, but I slowly got better, shame I couldn't say the same about Josh.
I didn't know where we were heading, but it was better than nowhere, anything was better than here. Or was it?

As I was driving behind Josh I kept thinking 'what happens if it is just us three?..' it was a horrible thought. Then an even worser thought popped up, 'I haven't rang my family.. I haven't checked if their alive!"
With one hand on the steering wheel, eyes focusing on the road, I used my other hand and fumbled in my pockets, trying to find my phone. Got it. I know it was against the law to use your phone whilst driving, but I'm guessing there are no laws now.

I fiddled with the keys on my phone and scrolled into contacts, half keeping my eyes on the road and half on my phone. At first I had no signal. I rang several times but all I got was a beep. On the 12th try, my mums phone rang. Nobody picked up.
I rang everyone I possibly knew. There was no answer.
"Dammit!" I screamed, throwing my phone onto the passenger seat.
I put my head nearer the wheel and thought about all the loved ones I had I in my life. All the memories made my head hurt, and then, I burst out crying.

  2. Omg this is great!

  3. I want that car lol

  4. Wait that sounds a little bit like my old story with contacting my family and finding them dead later. I dont care if u use it though. Can I be in it

The wind blew into my face. One one hand I enjoyed it, the whistling sound reverberating around my ears, making me forget what was happening around us- at least momentarily. One the other hand, it stung my face like blades. Suddenly I heard a name, in a faint voice. It was like my inner conscience speaking to me. I couldn't make out the name with all the wind. Naomi... Naomi! Little Sis! Immediately I reached into my back pocket, taking out my iPhone. I hit the speed-dial and impatiently tapped my left foot. All my calls didn't get through.

Don't die on me now, lil' Sis... I thought to myself.

Despair was building within me. Hopelessness was filling me up. Panic was building up within me. I was losing control of myself.

Then I heard a loud sob. I turned my head and found Jodiiee leaning against her steering wheel, all the while stepping on the gas.

"Jodie! Stop the car!" She couldn't hear me.

    "JODIE! STOP. THE. CAR!"

    Her car slowly decelerated.

I stepped on the brakes abruptly. The tires screeched and the car came to a halt. The smell of burnt rubber wafted to my nose. I quickly jumped over the door and out if the car, swiftly making my way towards her car. I opened the door and sat next to her.

I hugged her, and she rested her head on my shoulder. She continued sobbing.

"What were you thinking? You scared the crap outta me."

I could feel her warm tears on my skin. Her tears dripped down in a continuous flow. My sleeve was soaked through. I gently stroked her hair and kissed her on the forehead.

Jerry shouted over, "Is everything ok?"

    I quickly replied, " Yeah. Everything's ok."

Jodiiee whispered softly, "My family. I... I... I think they're... gone." Her words were once again drowned out by another stream of tears and a fit of sobs.

"My parents... Who'll look after me?", she continued.

"I will." I reassured her. And there we sat. Jodiiee leaning on my shoulder, sobbing and crying her eyes out, while I tried to comfort her.

And the whole time, only one thought raced through mind: Would we survive this ordeal?

I looked up at Josh, wanting so badly to question him about his family. In the end, I did.
    "Josh.." I asked silently.
    "Yeah?" he replied.
"Have you rang your family?.. Are they.. Alive?" I asked, my eyes growing bigger.
There was a horrible silence between us both. I looked down and then up, I needed a place for my eyes to focus on.
"I'm sorry" I said in the end.

After the little bit of reassurance, the three of us all got back into our cars.
"Anywhere we should stop off?" asked Jerry as he wound down his window.
    "Uhh.." thought Josh.
"Yes! We should stop off at a supermarket, y'know, to get the food and stuff.." I said.
"Alright. Supermarket it is" smiled Jerry, a big goofy grin on his face.

We drove for miles, followed all the signs and eventually found a supermarket.
As we all climbed out of our cars and headed to the front doors, I braced myself for the smash of the glass that Jerry or Josh were gonna break.
"Would ya' look at that!" examined Jerry. "This place is open!" he chuckled to himself as we all walked in.
All three of us grabbed a trolley each and started zooming down the isles, swinging from our trolleys and chucking whatever food was on the shelves, into them. I know it was practically the end of the world, but we were all having so much fun, and for a moment, just for a split second, it felt like we were normal, it felt like everything was ok.

We were all sat down on the supermarkets floor, pigging out near the sweet section when we heard the front doors slide open, and then footsteps walking around.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and all looked at each other.
We all knew what each one of us were thinking, and within seconds we were on our feet, rushing around like maniacs screaming; "HELLO?"
It was odd. The person didn't say anything, you could just hear the footsteps continue on walking, occasionally breaking out into a run. It was like that person was scared.
"Please stop running!" I called out. "We're the only ones here. We can help you.."
Once I had said that the person stopped running and we had all managed to catch up.
Jerry bent down to catch his breath, whilst Josh and I stared at this young girl. She looked lost and petrified.
    "It's okay.." I said gently.
"My names Jodiiee, this is Josh, and this guys Jerry" I continued.
"I, I'm Qin" the little girl replied, embracing me with a hug.
    ooof! I thought.
"I'm looking for my brother, he's called Dan..I can't find him anywhere.." she said, staring down at the floor.
"Don't worry.. We'll find you your brother, we promise." said Josh, adamantly.
I gave him a look as if to say; 'you shouldn't make a promise like that'.
    He didn't understand.

We finished collecting our essentials and started packing them into our boots.
"So, Qin. Who do you wanna ride with?" I smiled.
Josh and Jerry both looked at her as if to say; 'pick me!'
"Umm.. You please" she said, looking at me.
I smiled and raised an eyebrow to the boys.
    "Hop in then!" I laughed.
We continued on in the car following Josh and Jerry closely behind.
I hadn't a clue where Josh was leading us.
Qin had the majority of the food in the front with her, nibbling away at everything. We chatted for ages, and I listened to everything she had to say.
It reminded me of normality. And although she was much younger than me, it made me feel more safe, more calmer.. More relaxed.
"if we've found one, we'll find another". I thought.

It was a miracle. Finally a living being. Not only that, she was cute! She introduce herself as Qin, which was kind of a weird name, but what the heck, at a time like that, a name such as that was nothing compared to everything happening around us.

"If we managed to find one person, that means there's still a chance if more living beings out there." I thought to myself.

A flicker of hope burned inside of me.

I routinely reached for the radio as I always did when driving my Mustang, before it got smashed up by that drunkard. All that greeted me was static.

"Every freaking DJ in the world is probably dead..." I remembered, slapping myself on the forehead, thinking how stupid I was.

Fortunately, Jodiiee wasn't around to see me commit such a stupid act. Just as I was about to turn of the radio, a solitary word rang out, but was quickly drowned out by the static again.

However, I had heard that word. Pisa...

Pisa. Italy. There was someone, live and kicking, in Italy. I shouted over to Jerry, "Jerry! Someone's mayday-ing on the radio! Pisa!"

And with that Jerry nodded. I stepped on the gas, signaled to Jodiiee to follow me, and we were on the road to Pisa. Italy.

  15. Pisapisapisa.

    Pizza..

  16. Chapter 3: Monkey See, Monkey Attack

    Josh

We were on the highway to Pisa, Italy. Someone was out there, an that someone had to be saved. A sheer look of determination was plastered across my face. I rammed my foot down on the gas and I sped away, leaving behind a trail of smoke.

I could see Jodiiee through the rear-view mirror in her 2-seater driving behind me. She must have taken a big blow, to realize her parents were gone. Qin looked equally depressed, chewing on her Doritos. Damn, I would have been cheered up if Jodiiee had cared to pass me a bag of it! My eyes drifted to her face again. Strands of her hair were on her face, as if it were trying to block her eyes, to contain the sadness within her.

She smiled at a comment by Qin, but I could tell it wasn't genuine. Even when she was sad, she looked beautiful, but she would never be the same Jodiiee I knew even after all this was over.

BOOM! My thoughts were disrupted and I felt an impact on my bumper. The whole car jerked and I stepped on the brakes. The back wheels rolled over the object again, and my car screeched to a halt. I was shocked, petrified. I walked out, disorientated, and stumbled over to the back of my car. There it lay, one of the ape-like creatures, sprawled lifeless on the ground. Green blood was splattered all over the road.

Then a loud symphony of ape screeches could be heard. I turned spun my head around and my eyes widened in shock. A huge mass of the ape-like creatures charged, ad immediately I spun round again, shouting, "Stay inside!"

It was too late. Jodiiee walked out, and saw the horrible sight, she tried to open the door of the car again, bit it was too late.

A few dozens of the latter lunged onto Jodiiee and me. Jodiiee screamed in terror.

"No... NO!" I shouted, flaring up.

I tried to rid of a few of the creatures of my, smashing them to the ground and tossing them away, but more of them just took their place.

This was all part of their plan. Sacrifice one, bait us out of our cars, and attack.

I was frustrated at how helpless I was. More and mire monkeys were piling up on me. I shouted in anger, enraged.

I gritted my teeth, and clenched my fists.

And then something unbelievable, something I thought only existed in folklore, mythology and fairytales.

    A little something called magic.

A blinding light exploded around me, and the ape-like creatures on me were obliterated. They disintegrated into nothing more than piles of dust. Around me, a golden aura glowed, and in my hand, was suddenly a gold-plated double-edged long sword. I had conjured a weapon.

I ran over to Jodiiee and one by one, sliced the creatures to shreds. By the time all of the creatures had been vanquished, I was exhausted. The weapon disappeared. The golden aura around me was extinguished. I fell to the ground, exhausted.
