And bam! A new update! Sorry its been a while, I've been caught up in other things... Chapter six "But surely if you done history you would know about some science things. Although your knowledge will only probably span to Isaac Oldtown." Light mocks. Ryder rolls his eyes as the rest of them laugh, apart from Raven. Rose watches Dae's expressions, every so often she would glance at Harley, then at Logan and Jess. Harley finished eating and sat back in her chair, waiting for conversation to pick up again. "How was I wrong?" Ryder asks looking at Dae, with his fingers pursed together. "Do you want the speech I gave in the test room?" Dae asks rhetorically and Ryder nods. "Yeah okay." Sparrow laughs, "I think you'll find it was a rhetorical question John." Ryder glares at Sparrow for calling him John before focusing back on Dae. Logan couldn't help feeling a bit jealous about the way he was looking at Dae, but then he remembered that he was sat next to Dae. "Titanium fused with diamond with a uranium bond? Physically impossible. Uranium is an unstable nuclei, causing it to leak radiation, and for it to be hard to bond, especially with carbon. The electrons will stay stable, but the nuclei with continue to break down. You guys wouldn't use it anyway as you haven't got the right security clearance and you wouldn't walk in the same room with those ropes in with only your normal clothes and lab coat on." Dae rambled at the table causing most of them to laugh at Ryder who was sinking into his seat as Dae was speaking. "After a second time of hearing that it's still good." Jess says and Dae glances at Jess. Things were still uncomfortable between them after earlier, but it seemed like Logan had forgiven Dae. "Does anyone have aloe vera?" Xanius asks, causing everyone to look at him. "Well John is going to need it, isn't he? He just got burnt." The table erupts with laughter, but Raven wasn't joining in. "Ha ha ha, that is so not funny." Ryder snarks after picking at the last bit of food on the plate. In the observation room, everyone, apart Mathieu, was laughing. "I don't get it." Mathieu comments. Noémie stops laughing "never mind." Someone in the room snorts while trying to stop laughing, causing even more laughter. Mathieu looked around confused "what are you like?" He says shaking his head, turning his attention back to the experiments. They had two stacks of plates in the middle of the table. Everyone started standing up and going into their own rooms, when Jess went to stand up, Logan tugged her arm gently to sit her back down. Dae and Harley both raised an eyebrow, but Dae went into the common room instead of the room she shared with the others. Rose and Sparrow followed her, curious about what the room was like. Jess looked at Logan funny as he stood up and paced the area "what did you want?" Jess asks. "We need to apologise to Dae." "We need to apologise? We need to apologise? Did you hear..." "I heard what she said and it was all true. You know it is." Logan places his hands, spread out past shoulder width, on the table and looked at Jess on the opposite side. "I'm not apologising first." "For a smart person, you're acting extremely stupidly. You're getting as bad as Ryder." "As who?" "John." "I'm not as bad as Ryder!" Jess exclaims. Logan shakes his head before walking to the door of the room he is sharing with the boys "then stop being stubborn." He walks in his room before Jess can protest. Dae looks at Rose and Sparrow from her seat on the sofa "what are you two doing?" She asks the pair. Rose raises an eyebrow "I could say the same about you." Dae rolls her eyes as she looks away. Sparrow sits beside Dae "what's wrong?" This causes Dae to look at the pair. "Is it really that obvious?" She asks self-consciously. Rose shakes her head "no, we just read body language well." Dae looks at Sparrow for confirmation and Sparrow nods. "I excel at seeing happy body language, and yours is the opposite. I can tell when things are gnawing at people's insides." Dae laughs slightly out of nervousness. "Well?" Rose asks. "I've already told you Rose." "Oh, was it because of what Jess was doing during dinner?" Rose tries not to let her voice break as she knew Dae didn't feel the same about her. Sparrow quickly glances at Rose before looking at Dae "I take it that was Jess that slammed the door." Dae nods before speaking again. "Xanius spotted there was cameras in the rooms, Logan said it was unethical, so I responded they've done it before so what would stop them now." Rose interrupted "Actually you said: yeah but so were the experiments placed on us when we were babies, but that didn't stop them. So why would it stop them now?" The other two look at Rose funny. "Our room was pretty much quiet, I heard most of it." Rose explains quickly embarrassed. "So anyway they looked at me weird so I said well they would only record interesting developments or conversations. This caused Jess to flip off and she went they can't do that its against the law. So I simply replied so is putting experiments on babies." "You shouted at her like she did at you actually instead of simply replying..." Rose interrupted again. Sparrow nodded "I understand where you're coming from. That's when Jess slammed the door right?" "Yeah. Xanius creeped out after she did and then it was just me and Logan left. I go to say something and he cuts me off with why are you such an ass all of a sudden before walking back to his room." Dae looked away from the pair, certain that Logan felt nothing for her, while she felt for him. Sparrow had guessed Rose's feelings for Dae, as she was the same with Alixan. Rose was disappointed, she could see Logan was close to Dae's heart already and he stomped on it. Hard. Maybe I could comfort her... Make her feel better... Rose thinks and starts laying down those foundations. She sits the other side of Dae, causing Dae to look at her own lap. "If he done that he isn't worth it." Rose comments rubbing Dae's back reassuringly. Dae shakes her head, her red highlights catching the setting sun "he's not like that usually... I'm sure of it..." "He stomped on your heart. How is he worth it?" Rose asks bluntly causing both Dae and Sparrow to look at her in surprise. "Boys are jerks, just trust me I know." Rose continues. Dae shakes her head again while speaking "what are you trying to say?" Sparrow looks between the pair of them and stands up "I'm just gonna go..." Alixan stumbles as the door opens, causing Sparrow to catch her "oh... Um. Hi." Alixan says awkwardly. Sparrow moves away from the door, shuts it and concentrates on Alixan "what's wrong?" Sparrow asks. "I heard you and Dae talking until I heard Rose and I was just about to go." Sparrow nods and pulls Alixan into a hug "No-one will hurt you Ali. I'll make sure of that." Alixan wraps her arms around Sparrow's waist. "Thank you, can I ask you something?" "Sure, what is it?" Sparrow pulls back a bit to see Alixan's face. Alixan glances to the side "we've only just met, but it feels like we've known each other a life time... Do you feel the same?" Alixan's sky blue eyes like the sky on a bright day never left Sparrow's dark blue eyes like the night sky. Sparrow leans her forehead on Alixan's before continuing, speaking softly, tucking some of Alixan's hair behind her ear "I feel like we're reincarnations who were always destined to find each other. One way or another." Alixan moves her hand to cup Sparrow's cheek, brushing her soft skin... Rose shifted slightly closer to Dae "I'm trying to say that is it worth putting yourself through pain when someone else won't hurt you?" "But who else would? I could drop dead any minute, any of us could!" Dae stresses, moving away from Rose. "I'm sure you are hurting yourself watching Jess flirt with Logan." "I'm not the only one watching them." "Who else is then?" Harley watches the door, wondering where Alixan and Rose went. She shrugged and continued to listen to what Alexious was talking to Beltane about. Her mind wanders to dinner. Jess didn't stop trying to stick her foot in the way so no one else could get Logan. Harley was going to change that. Get all of Logan's attention on her instead of Jess. But Dae was in the contention as well, Harley didn't miss the looks that Dae kept giving her, Logan and Jess. I just have to be the girl he needs... As Jess definitely isn't. But Dae? Well I have to find a way to get her off the path... "Her?" Rose gapes at Dae. A nod was the simple reply from Dae "you didn't see the looks?" Dae questions as Rose shook her head in disbelief, "well I can see why... I mean the others aren't as toned as him, apart from John, but he's just an idiot." "There's more to John then he let's on... It's just a thick-skinned guy, that's all." "Oh really? Do you think so?" Rose says sarcastically. "Yeah okay, he's a bit arrogant, but so are all boys when they are trying to hide something." "So?" "Maybe we have all been too quick to judge him..." "What are you like?" Rose questions. "Oh so now you're going to pull one on me too?" Dae leans back into the sofa as Rose stands. Alixan and Sparrow go into their separate rooms to relax before the evening. Raven watches Sparrow differently to how she has in the past; she could see Sparrow was hiding something from the rest of them. But Raven wasn't going to stick her nose in it though. Alexious smiles at Sparrow "well someone seems happy compared to the other two." Sparrow can't help laughing at Alexious's comment, "I'm always happy, why should now be any different?" Jess rolls her eyes at the pair before laying back on her bed. Alixan looks around her room, Beltane and Harley were now talking, but it didn't seem an important conversation. Harley rolled over to face the wall instead of looking at Beltane. Alixan spots the drawings on Beltane's arms, she sits down beside her and looks at the patterns "you're a good artist." Alixan comments quietly as Beltane continued drawing. "Thanks, I just do this when I get bored. It's a pain to wash off, but it's worth it." Beltane smirks, completing a pattern on her left arm.
I hoped to update before now, but I've been busy and my football (soccer for you Americans) season as a referee has started with a lovely sore ankle and blisters! But anyway, here's the next chapter! It may seem like I focused on the character I created myself, but that's only because she's playing a vital role for the remaining tests for the experiments Chapter 7 Rose stares at Dae in disbelief, "excuse me?" Dae looked at Rose, her face straight. "What are you trying to do?" "I honestly don't know what you are on about." Rose replies. "I know there's something there Rose... I'm not that stupid." "I know you're not, and that was obvious with the rope explanation. Plus to remember the exact words... Well, you have to be something really special." "Then why are you acting like a jerk all of a sudden?" Dae leans forward onto her hands which were propped up on her legs. Rose couldn't answer Dae's question "I... Um... I... I... I got to go..." Rose vaguely pointed at the door before walking out of the room and into the one she was sharing with three others. Alixan and Beltane looked up at Rose as she sat on her own bed. "Oh great another Harley." Beltane commented dryly as Rose turned away from them. "Oh shut up." Rose retorts. Beltane goes to stand up but Alixan stops her with a hand on Beltane's arm. "Grow up." Harley says quietly. Alixan takes one of Beltane's pens and writes jealousy on her hand. Beltane nods in agreement. Dae sits on the sofa shaking, not knowing what to do. She starts running fingers through her hair, trying to calm down, as she rarely gets worked up like this. Light gets bored and wanders into the common room to get a drink and spots Dae. "You got Ryder good at dinner," He comments with a smirk, "he is still complaining about it in our room." "Yeah." Dae replies nonchalantly. Light gets a glass out of the cupboard "you were in the newspaper a couple of weeks back weren't you." "I know that's a rhetorical question." "I'm sorry I was only pointing out a fact." He says just over the noise of water filling his glass. "I can get Logan in here so you can talk to him instead if you want." He comments when Dae doesn't reply. That gets Dae's attention, she raises her head and glares at Light "do you want to cross a line?" Light holds his hands up in submission. "Fine, you have no choice anyway." Light's words were as cold as his ice blue eyes as he walks out the room and Logan walks in. Dae immediately brings her legs up close to her as if to shield herself from Logan. "Please Dae, just listen for two minutes." Logan says quietly crouching in front of her. "Then start." She replies, her voice barely above a whisper. "I know its late, but I'm sorry. I shouldn't of said what I said when it was just us two in the room. If anything I was the bigger ass." Logan explains as he sits beside Dae on the sofa. "Why did you side with Jess. You knew I was right." "I never sided with her," Dae raises an eyebrow, "okay maybe I did but there's more to her then she is letting on. She won't apologise, I tried to get her to after dinner but she wouldn't hear any of it." Dae nods, seeing why he pulled Jess back to the table. She heard you're just as bad as Ryder but couldn't hear anything else. Logan sighs and looks at his lap "when you're ready to talk, find me." He stands and is about to walk out the door when Dae speaks up "thank you." Logan turns around confused. "For what?" "For being the bigger person and saying sorry when you needed to." Dae replies, her head held with more confidence than it was when Logan had walked in. Logan smiled and walked out the room. The main area, instead of being covered by the table, has been covered by bean bags and sofas. Everyone else were already sat out there, spread them across chatting. Xanius was out of his shell, easily chatting within the group. "So what do you think of Logan? I think he's an idiot." Ryder comments as he has his back to the common room door. No one replies, but everyone keeps a straight face until Logan breaks the silence "I think you sat in the wrong place to make a comment like that. So who is even more of an idiot now?" Everyone else laughs as Ryder sinks into the beanbag, even Raven smiles a bit before quickly returning to her stone features. Alixan, Sparrow and Raven were sat on one sofa; Alexious, Beltane and Rose on another; Light and Xanius sat on the last sofa, leaving a spare space for whoever wanted it. Whereas Harley, Jess and Ryder sat on the three beanbags. Logan sat in the spare seat on the sofa for the mean time as the conversation moved on. Dae stood up from the sofa and walked to the sink quietly, she ran the cold water tap and brought water to her face in her hands. She couldn't hear the others as the conversation covered the sound of the running tap. After Dae dried her face, she walked silently to by the door. "What does she have against me?" Ryder questions his voice muffled. "She doesn't have anything against you." Logan, Sparrow and Xanius reply at the same time. Ryder laughs "are you sure? Because it seems like she does." Dae opens the door into the main area "I don't have anything against you personally," she says as she walks and sits on the arm of the sofa by Sparrow, "it's just the attitude of people like you. They refuse morals, think they own or run the place when they are near the bottom of the food chain. They, hmm what's the word." Dae gestures with her hand. "Thinks the sun shine out of their ass and wants everyone to kiss it." Raven says without batting an eyelid. "Well basically what Raven said." Dae smiles. Jess glances at Logan then at Dae, realising how smart Dae is by having a dig at the scientists as well as a slight dig at Jess herself. Ryder smirked "I'm sorry I live up to my stereotypes." "Why are you apologising? Your type created stereotyping." Xanius replies. "Okay, I don't have a response for that. But it doesn't mean us athletes created stereotypes." Ryder comments. "Actually it was proven scientifically the other week." Rose adds to the conversation. Dae shifts slightly on the arm of the sofa to get comfortable. Ryder scoffs "I'm sorry are you still cooling from your burn earlier?" Rose mocks, causing others to chuckle. Ryder grumbles and Rose suddenly realises what Dae said about him. It is just a thick skin, refusing to show how he really feels. Maybe there is hope for him to be a better person, unless the tests killed him first. Kat walks out of the observation room and to the gate to the teenager's area as Mathieu walks to the stairwell. "Number four to the gate please." Noémie says into the microphone linked to the system in the experiment's area. Dae looked at the wall, straight at Noémie, while everyone else looks at Dae. She stands wordlessly and walks to the gate, Dae looks back, making Alixan, Logan, Sparrow and Xanius give her a thumbs up. The gate opened to reveal Kat, "I've been asked to take you to meeting room three." Dae nods as she steps out, the gate shutting immediately behind her. Kat leads Dae down the corridor and turns left, before taking the first door on the left. They then take the first door on the right. Instead of going upstairs like they did earlier, they went downstairs. "How many floors is it here?" Dae asks out of curiousity as they go to the ground floor "five." Kat replies. "Five? But there's only four here, so there must be another way to get to the other floor." "Exactly." Kat replies, pushing open the door open at the bottom.of the stairs. There they are met with an enclosed space where you can only go in one of two directions. Kat opens the door on the right and holds it open for Dae, who walks through then waits for Kat. The door shuts behind them and Dae listens carefully and she could hear the occainsonal traffic pass by. "I take it we are near the way out." Dae comments, knowing Kat can't respond. They enter a room after going through the door on the right, and head across to the door opposite. The pair walk through and Kat holds open the only visible door to the right. Dae stands in the door way until she hears an unfamiliar voice. "Number four, come and join me." Mathieu knew he had got her interest as soon as she stepped in. Dae looked at the man in the meeting room curiously, she had known the guy who came to them in the holding room wasn't the head scientist. Maybe this guy was. He had a much longer life span, lasting another thirty years unless an accident claimed him before that. From observing his features, he was obviously tall, his skin had a light tan to it, black short hair, and his muscles were just obvious under the almost too small lab coat. His accent also gave away where he was from. Dae had known plenty of people who came across from France, and this guy was one of them. "Take a seat." Mathieu instructed as Kat closed the door and stood in front of it outside. Dae sat down on the soft black chair facing Mathieu, waiting for an explanation. "I'm Mathieu." Mathieu offers his hand for Dae to shake across the oak table. Dae shakes it firmly, keeping her poker face on at all times. "It has come to our attention that you are the best so far out of the 13 of you. So I came up with an idea for you and your new associates. There will be more tests as you know, and we want you to help your associates in them." Mathieu explains. "How can I do that?" Dae responds. "We will put you in with different people for their tests. You will be with each one of them once." Mathieu elaborates. A thought flashes across Dae's mind that means working with Rose, Jess and Logan… She mentally sighs. Dae nods, not letting her emotions cloud her face. "It will start tomorrow in the morning about nine a.m is your next test. You'll find out your pairing then. Repeat none of this please." Mathieu orders and Kat opens the door again. "You are dismissed." Mathieu comments looking down at the paper in front of him. Dae stands and puts out her hand again, "thank you." She says and Mathieu looks up. He shakes her hand again, not realising she had done it so she could look at the papers. Dae smirked as she turned to face Kat and exited wordlessly, following Kat back up to the area where Dae stays. Mathieu smiles to himself she seemed to want to do that…
