bump! Working on an update today

 

I've finally managed to finish the update before I go to bed, so this is it... Enjoy!

Chapter four

Mathieu ignored Noémie's comment and scribbled 4: extremely knowledgeable, could be useful in future government, if she passes the tests. Noémie does not even try to look as she would get her hand bitten off.

Simone climbs the stairs past the second floor, to reach to the third floor. He enters the male half of the floor then enters the common room on his right. Glancing around he spots the male guards w,ho brought the experiments in. He wanders over to the laughing group which turns quiet when he reaches them. The male half of guards 1 look at Simone. Their captain speaks up "how can we help you Conti?" Simone looks at his clipboard then at the group again.
"The people we asked you to be on the look out for and bring to us, were they out early? Like at six o'clock." Simone asked. The small teams within the group look at each other. "The boys and the bigger girls were. You have to check with Kat about the girls." The captain replies after seeing the looks between his group.

"Thank you." Simone scribbles that down on his clipboard and starts to head to the female common room. "What's the matter? Did we do anything wrong?" LeBlanc calls out as Simone has his back to them. Simone smiles before turning around again, "no Corporal LeBlanc, nothing was done wrong." Simone walks into the female common room with Sergeant Maguire's troop watching him confused.

Kat takes a sip of her tea just before someone clears his throat behind her. She sets the cup down and looks behind "Mr Conti, please refrain from doing that when someone is drinking please."
"Nice to see you too Sergeant." Simone replies.
"How can I help you?" Kat asks politely.
"The experiments..."
"You mean the teenagers..." Kat interrupts.
"Yeah, the teenagers, we're they up early this morning?" Simone continues as soon as he can.
"Is this a trick question?"
"No it isn't. We are just investigating something that has come up." Kat looks at her group.

The Lance Corporals nod and one speaks up "yes sir. They were all out about 6000 hours." Simone nods scribbling it down.
"Is that all Conti?" Kat asks turning to face him again. He nods before walking off. The Lance Corporal that spoke up looked at Kat, "I take it that something has been spotted."
"Yes, or a few of the teenagers have said something."

Dae eventually wanders out of the common room and they annouce the schedule. "7 and 9 to main area please." Two male guards walk through the door from the corridor. Ryder stays where he is and Light comes out of their room. The guards stand either side of the pair then start walking, with Light and Ryder keeping up with the first guard. "8 and 13." Dae smiles at Xanius as he walks past but the smile fades when Logan walks past. He looks at Dae with his back to the scientists, he shakes his head with a small smile before following the guards that are waiting. Dae's smile grows again slightly into a sad smile, how can I persuade them that what I said was right? she thinks to herself.

"1 and 2." Female guards come through causing Alixan and Alexious to follow them after coming out of their rooms. "3 and 10." Beltane and Raven look at each other when they reach the main area and smirk. "5 and 12." Harley seems less enthusiatic than Sparrow as they come out of their rooms. Rose had joined Dae a while ago, after seeing her expression, Rose took Dae's hand, squeezed it reassuringly and let it go. Dae looked at Rose and smiled, her way of saying thank you.

Jess came out of their room, looking at Dae and Rose, "I guess it's us three next." Rose comments. Just like she said "4, 6 and 11." Was annouced on the speakers. Kat came through the door smiling, "are you girls ready?" She asks looking at the trio. They nod and follow her down the corridor to the stairwell. They climb up to the second floor.

When they reach the second floor, everyone else had been lined up in their pairs along a wall. Noémie waits for 4, 6 and 11 to join the rest against the wall opposite her before speaking. "So for this afternoon's tests, you will be taken to your test room by your guards. It is nothing to be scared about, we are just testing what you know about yourself. Any questions? No, good. They're all yours." Noémie gives none of the teenagers chance to speak before the pairs of guards call out the numbers.

"7 and 9." Light and Ryder stepped out of the line and followed the guard to test room seven. Soon Logan stepped out of the line and turned his head to look at Dae and Jess, Dae was talking to Rose quietly, possibly about what happened. His glance caught her eye though, Dae looked at him as Logan looked at her. I need to apologise to her, she was right. I was out of line, so was six. Logan glances over at Jess, who meets his eyes while biting her bottom lip again, before turning away and following the guard with Xanius to test room six. "What was all of that about?" Rose whispers to Dae curiously. Dae sweeps a bit of hair out of her face before replying "I think he's realised." Rose nods before leaning against the wall again.

"3 and 10." Raven mutters under her breath before stepping forward at the same time as Beltane and they follow their guards to test room two. "Dae, Jess and Rose." Kat says receiving a glare from Noémie, which gets ignored. The three girls follow to ten steps away into test room 3. Alexious, Alixan, Harley and Sparrow stand waiting patiently against the wall of test room five. "5 and 12." Harley and Sparrow follow the guards, to test room five's door, two steps away. Noémie looked at the last two, "you guys are in there." She said pointing to the last door on the corridor.

The pair walk in to find a more comfy recliner chair that you would see at the dentists. Alixan sits on the seat with one plastered on the table at the foot end, while Alexious sits on number two. The lights dim as a scientist enters, their voice is soft and extremely female, but the two girls can't see them as the chairs are reclined. "Now, let the test begin." She says glancing down at the clipboard. If that was a tv show, a small tune would be played and a set of lights would perform a set sequence, but this wasn't a tv game show so none of that happened.

"Experiment two please state your name." The scientist asks, her pen ready in her hand. "Alexious Joul." Alexious replies calmly. The scientist scribbles something but then looks at Alexious over her glasses, "how do you spell that?"
"T, h, a, t. Honestly what did you learn in English lessons?" Alexious replies smirking and Alixan giggles. "I meant your name." The scientist replies not amused.
"Look on the files you have on us."
"This is part of the test, you cannot skip this question." In the observation room, Mathieu, Noémie and Simone were laughing at the scientist in room four, as what Alexious was saying, was completely true.

Alexious sighs before complying "A, l, e, x, i, o, u, s. J,o, u, l."
"Your age please Alexious."
"18."
"Day of birth."
"14th."
"Thank you. Experiment one, what is your name?" Alixan decided to comply straight away, then it would be over and done with quicker. " Alixan Baczhendrov."
"How do you spell that?" Alixan groaned before replying. "A, l, i, x, a, n. B, a, c, z, h, e, n, d, r, o, v."
"Your age please Alixan."
"17."
"Day of birth?"
"18th."
"Thank you."

The process took longer in test room three as there was three of them. "Your age please Rose."
"17."
"Day of birth."
"17th."
"Thank you." The lights get brighter slightly causing the brains of all the experiment to wake up a bit more, adding layers to the development. "Now, Dae, what have you achieved outside of school?" The scientist had a more strong voice in this room, but she was still female. "I helped homeless people. I gave them food, drinks, blankets, company and smiles. For the ones that died, I done small services for them, as a sign of closure within the homeless community. Although, when one homeless person died, there was always a new homeless person, I've only just noticed that." The scientist stop scribbling notes mid-sentence causing Dae to speak up again. "Did I say something wrong?"
"No. You said nothing wrong..." She trails off, the experiments were smarter than anticipated....

 

News flash: News has just come in that bodies of 12 teenagers are missing. Their families have sent out an appeal for them to be returned so they get a proper burial. If you have any information on these teenagers >images of 1 to 12<, please phone 349.

Chapter 5

"There was always one new person to balance the numbers of homeless." Noémie mutters as she scribbles notes down in observation room three. How can that be possible? She thinks to herself.

Mathieu paces up and down observation room four with his clipboard in hand. He stops by test room eight's window. "I told you I am no good at math!" Ryder shouts. Light sighs before sitting up looking at Ryder. "Just answer the damned question." The scientists sighs and glances at his clipboard. All he asked was the missing angle of a triangle if one was ninety degrees and the other one was forty degrees. Ryder glares at Light before working it aloud. "So total is 180... 90 plus 40 equals..... Actually 9 add 4 equals 13, so it would be 130. 180 minus 130 is 50. 50 degrees is the other angle." Ryder mutters, all apart from the last sentence which he says normally.

Light claps sarcastically as the scientist writes down the response. The other person in the room was meant to have headphones on, but he took them off due to frustration, because of Ryder. The scientist turns to Light "what is so special about the prime number 73." Light grins before answering.

Logan also got that question and grinned like a Cheshire cat. "Well as far as I can recall, 73 is the 21st prime number. Its mirror, 37, is the 12th. Then its mirror, 21, is the product of multiplying, seven and three." The scientist in his room smiled as he wrote it down.

"Also 73 is a palindrome: 1001001, which backwards is 1001001. Evidently they are the same. Can I have a harder question next time?" Dae comments, without any trouble. The scientist grins, Noémie nods and speaks into the mouthpiece linked to the scientist's ear. "Ask four about the 'titanium fused with diamond with a uranium bond' rope as Ryder so eloquently put it." The scientist scribbled a side note before looking back at Dae.

"Dae, what information can you offer us on the ropes? The ones that John said were Titanium fused with diamond with a uranium bond." The scientist asks and the other two look at Dae. Rose props herself up on her elbows to watch Dae at the opposite end of the room to her. "Titanium fused with diamond with a uranium bond? Physically impossible. Uranium is an unstable nuclei, causing it to leak radiation, and for it to be hard to bond, especially with carbon. The electrons will stay stable, but the nuclei with continue to break down. You guys wouldn't use it anyway as you haven't got the right security clearance and you wouldn't walk in the same room with those ropes in with only your normal clothes and lab coat on."

Noémie nodded in the observation room as she scribbled down what 4 had said and added extremely knowledgeable and observant. Could help the other experiments. Each one should have one test with her in there with them, physical or mental. "thank you." Noémie said into the mouthpiece. The scientist moved onto the normal questioning.

Mathieu had just watched Dae say all of her speech with her eyes shut and her hands on her abdomen on the tv monitors in observation room four. That was the biggest thing that happened in the two hour tests.

Kat had just set the table in the main area when her buzzer went off. This meant she had to head up to the test rooms to collect all of the experiments. She sighed before placing down the last knife and jogged to the stairwell. Then she took the stairs two at a time to reach the second floor in half the time it would usually take. Noémie greeted Kat "your welcoming attitude has helped the three girls you brought up relax more in the test. You should do it with all of them, 13 needs it as well as he's been homeless for a week." Kat nods.
"There's also something on the news that you and Mathieu need to see. I honestly mean it, the teenagers mustn't see it." Dae, Jess and Rose had just come out their test room. "We mustn't see what?"

Alixan was lead on the chair still when she felt an eerie presence in the room, a voice suddenly appeared in her mind "you won't live to see the end of all of these tests." It whispers before Alixan screams. The scientist's head whips up from the clipboard and two seconds later Kat bursts through the door. Alixan was sat up on the chair, her hands covering her eyes as water was pouring from them. Kat looks at Alexious and the scientist, they both shrug in response. Only Alixan heard the voice...

Sparrow and Dae enter test room four as Alexious leaves. Kat was stood trying to persuade Alixan to move kindly but it wasn't working, she glances at the pair that just walked in. The pair walk to the other side of Alixan and Kat backs off as if to say, you try Dae mouths to Kat "what's her name?" Kat stands thinking before she notices the table has her number and name. Kat holds the sign up and the two girls nod.

"Ali?" Sparrow asks quietly causing Alixan to wrap her arms around Sparrow's neck. She started sobbing into her t-shirt causing Sparrow to rub Alixan's back gently. "I'm pretty sure a damp white t-shirt isn't what..." Dae trails off when she realises she doesn't know Sparrow's name. "Sparrow." Sparrow replies smiling.
"Isn't what Sparrow wants at the moment." Dae says jokingly. Alixan settles into Sparrow's arms more but stops crying, Dae runs a hand through Alixan's long brown hair. Alixan looks at Dae from Sparrow's shoulder "I'm sorry, something scared me." She says quietly, her voice barely above a whisper but the sound seemed loud because of the quiet room.

Jess, Logan and Rose stood in the doorway watching Dae and Sparrow. Glancing backwards slightly, Jess noticed that Logan had settled considerably closer to her body than Rose's. She smiled smugly to herself before watching Dae and Sparrow again. Logan saw Jess's look and shook his head slightly, it was only because he was leaning on the door frame and she was just stood in the room. Jess had stopped quicker than Logan thought she would.

Jess in herself had a petite frame and build, Logan was a whole door above her height. Her hair flowed in a dark river to her waist, her eyes were similar in colour, and we're framed with long lashes. The red T-shirt she was wearing stood out against her caramel skin. Logan had also noticed she had the tendency to bite her lower lip whenever she looked at him. To be Frank, he found that annoying.

Sparrow had managed to coax Alixan to stand up, but she still clinged to Sparrow like her life depended on it. Her hair covered her face which was now buried in Sparrow's neck. Sparrow caught a whiff of Alixan's hair which had been washed that morning and resisted the urge to pull her closer. Dae brushed Alixan's hair out of her face gently and looked her in the eyes. "What scared you?" Dae asks gently. Alixan bits her lip before replying "you will think I'm crazy." Dae shakes her head gently. "No I won't, what was it?"

Logan and Rose had to move their eyes away from Dae's body back to the three faces quite close together. Sparrow drops her shoulder gently so Alixan has to take her head off of her. "Please tell us Ali." Sparrow asked quietly in Alixan's ear. Alixan looked at Sparrow and Dae, in that order, before taking a deep breath "a voice appeared in my head. It said I wouldn't survive to the end of the test." Sparrow's eyes widen as she looks at Dae. Dae looks at them both as Sparrow brings her hand up to the back of Alixan's head to pull it back to Sparrow's shoulder reassuringly.

Kat watches the trio carefully, grateful that Dae and Sparrow had got Alixan to talk. Alixan nestled back into Sparrow's shoulder "what do we do?" Sparrow mouths to Dae, causing a shrug in response. "You will. We all will." Dae says reassuringly, hoping it was true. Sparrow rubbed Alixan's head gently "no one would let anything happen to you." Dae looks around at the group by the door and shoos them away. Logan brushes past Jess and Rose as they turn round to walk away.

"I thought I said go." Dae whispers to Logan. He smiles back at her "I thought you guys needed a bit of a hand." Dae shook her head smiling slightly. Alixan looks at Logan "why are you here?" Logan smiles politely back at Alixan. "Here to give a you a lift." Alixan smiles slightly. Sparrow glances at Dae over Alixan's head. Dae nods at Sparrow, causing her to let go of Alixan. Logan scoops Alixan up in arms and she rests her head on his shoulder looking back at Dae and Sparrow. They smile as they follow behind.

The rest of them had already gone down to the main area so Logan put Alixan down. Her eyes were no longer red from her tears. Kat escorted them down to their main area. There was four seats left, for the four that had just come down. The seats were between Jess and Raven. Sparrow sits by Raven, on purpose, which makes her scowl as she picks at the chips on her plate. Alixan sits in the seat between Sparrow and Dae, leaving Logan by Jess.

Harley spoke up first "so how did everyone find the test?" Being in the same test room with Sparrow started to rub off on her. An awkward silence breifly filled the air before a multitude of answers got chucked into the mix. "Rubbish…" Ryder groaned.
"Piece of cake." Logan muttered, more concentrating on listening to Jess's rambles as she eats. "Easiest thing I've ever done," Dae comments before turning to Ryder, "what did you think the ropes were made of again?" She asks causing Jess and Rose to snicker. Logan whispered to Jess, "what did she say in the test room?" She glanced at how close he was before whispering back "you'll find out." Harley glares at Jess from across the table.

Ryder looks at his plate while eating for thirty seconds. "Fine I'll bite, I said they were titanium fused with diamond with a uranium bond." Ryder finally gives in. Dae laughs quietly before speaking again "science isn't your strong point is it?"
"No it isn't. That was one of the things he incessantly whined about in the test." Light mocks. Ryder rolls his eyes "I prefer history."
