Noobs and Newbs.

I've been playing since 2011 and I still get called a noob ._. Must be the stats.

 

I always thought a noob was a often un-liked new player and a newb is a just a plain new player. Hmmm.

 

I had never heard of newb until Anya started using it

Being a noob has nothing to do with statsi know bcs that know less about the game than smaller stats, its just knowledge of the game, and generally knowing how to play

 

I find any use or variation of the word noob annoying.

Not really. I've been playing for over a year now. It's just a demeaning name for beginners. "Oh look at me, I've been playing longer than you and know more about a video game haha" -_-

 

Being a noob is okay as long as you know what you are#noobandproudofit

 

That's why there's a difference.


Newb is a new player


Noob has to do with knowledge of the game not stats.

Actually newbie is a term for new and/or inexperienced person in an activity. The terms newb and noob both derived from this word. Newb became a shortened version widely used by the military. Noob, or n00b, gained popularity mostly online, particularly in online gaming. The definition of these words are the same but the slang meaning is what you all keep referring to.
