  1. This is now my favorite story:)

  2. Seriously?

  3. Adam

By the time we ran home, we were semi-dry. Back in my backyard, we laid in the tall grass as I told Brittany my story. I whispered about how my dad lost his job, so we were forced to take in borders. About how my grandparents hated how hyper I was as a child, so they moved back to Greece to retire. I even told her about how my parents were fighting at night, but tried to seem all lovey-dovey during the day.
"I'm worried about them because if they do get divorced, my dad will move to Greece with his parents. I just can't choose between them," I muttered absently.
Brittany sat up and placed her hands on my shoulders. "Adam," she said, "That won't happen. Your family is too close to ever be separated. Your parents wouldn't be able to give up on each other like that, they're still in love."
I sat up to face her. Oops, didn't think that through. We were now about two inches apart, though, I kind of liked it.
"How do you know, Brittany? Ever been in love?" I asked, cracking a smile.
She seemed to deeply consider my question before replying quietly, "Yes."
    Then, I kissed her.

Back in my room, after dinner, I couldn't stop thinking about Adam. We met yesterday, yet he'd already kissed me! Was that normal? Frankly, I can't rely on past experience.
A knock on my door jolted me out of my thoughts.
"Sorry, I can't answer the phone right now. Please leave a message after the beep," I told the door, which opened to reveal my father.
"Brittany, we need to talk," he whispered seriously.
    "What's the matter?"
"Well, I heard you've been going to the beach..."
"Dad! That was one time, today, and with a friend too."
"Stay away from the ocean. I'm sorry, but it's for your own good."
"How? I can swim, I'm not gonna drown. You need to tell me what I'm supposed to be afraid of!"
"You're right, I do. Not now, though, you need to sleep."
    "Whatever."

Brittany was at war with herself all day.
"I just feel so bad for yelling at him. What should I do?" she asked for the millionth time.
"I seem to recall us having a similar conversation yesterday. Here's what I say though, you had the right to be mad at him. Also he's your father, so he'll forgive you," I replied softly, catching her hand in the process.
"Okay, you're right," Brittany admitted, stealing a quick kiss.

"Son! There is a ship manned with a dozen soldiers, ready to set sail. Are you packed and ready yet?" my father asked impatiently.
    "Of course father."
"Let's go get my fiancé back," I thought.

  5. Brittany

I spent the rest of the week with Adam, having the time of my life! We went anywhere and everywhere possible in this small, coastal town. We saw movies that came out on DVD three months ago at the local, one-screen theater. If my bowling ball hadn't gotten stuck in the pockmarks left from little kids, I would've beat him at bowling. Adam even drove me out of town to a seemingly magical lakeside park. We had a blast!
"See you in the morning, Brittany," Adam whispered before kissing me goodnight.
I wouldn't be there in the morning, though.

Sorry it's short and a cliffhanger, but I have to get up early tomorrow.

  6. Know what, who needs sleep?

That night, our ship finally docked in the nearest harbor. My small army and I snuck ashore and marched silently to the boarding house. When we reached it, many ideas were suggested. Storming out with the girl and torching the rest, dragging all the inhabitants back to the ship and executing them onboard, and the best one, sneaking the girl and her father quietly onto the ship.
"I need three men to aid me in capturing the soon to be prisoners," I signed to the crew. After the three stepped forward, we crept ninja-like, into the house.

I couldn't get to sleep. Every time I closed my eyes, I thought about Brittany.
When the door opened, pouring light into my loft, I knew something was going on. I leaned out of bed and watched the downstairs hallway through a crack in the hatch. I saw four suspicious figures sneak in and tiptoe down towards Brittany and Chun's rooms. The lights turned on and after a couple of muffled crashes, the four kidnappers ran out the door with our guests in tow!
They weren't going to get away, not on my watch.

  7. Should I just start a new story, or is anyone still reading this?

  8. I'M READING IT!!!! KEEP GOING

  9. Adam

I silently followed the kidnappers outside, where an army of a dozen soldiers was stationed.
I followed the group down backroads, towards the harbor. A soldier about my age started to fall behind. I had an idea!

I didn't know who these people were, I didn't know where we were going, but I knew they were why I couldn't go to the beach alone.
My dad and I were taken to a small ship. Down in the ship's mini-jail, we were hand-cuffed to the bars.
"Dad, though it's probably too late to be of help, will you tell me why we're here?" I asked desperately.
"Alright," he started, dropping his fake American accent, "This all started before you were born..."
He continued to tell my about how he was pen-pals with my mother during high school. After their senior year, she flew to China and borrowed a boat to sneak to his parent's house.
"She climbed in through my window, shook my awake, and whispered 'I found you'. You were born nine months later."
Unfortunately, the night I was born, my father's parents found Brittany (my mom) and killed her on the spot. They later arranged for me to marry a wealthy, family "friend".
By the end of his story, my father was crying his eyes out.
"You know, that was really touching, I might cry. Time to go," a guard said sarcastically.
Fighting him the entire time, my hands and feet were tied, I was blindfolded and gagged, and eventually stuffed into a sack.
    "Sorry," the guard murmured.
    Strange.
I was over his shoulder and my father was in a wheelbarrow, both of us looking like trash in the sacks we were in.
"Hey! You there," an older guard yelled, "What's in the bags?"
"Just some leftovers to feed to the fishes," our guard responded.
    Why was he lying?
Suddenly I was dropped into a tub-like space, which was lowered into the water. There was a scraping metal on wood sound followed by the sound of water rushing into an open space, but I didn't feel anything.
    What was going on?

I felt bad, but I had to keep up the act. When we were far enough away, I cast the knife and sacks out into the ocean and untied their limbs.
"Brittany," I whispered, "I'm going to take out your gag now. Do not scream, if you do I will stop you."
When I took out her gag, of course she started screaming, so I silenced her with a kiss. Not knowing who I was, she pushed away and ripped off her blindfold. Once she saw me, though, Brittany gasped, "Adam." and we melted into each other.
    "What about Du-ho's ship?"
"It'll be at the bottom of the ocean soon."
    "Wow."
Back at the house, Chun fell asleep on the couch, and Brittany came into my room. We sat on my bed using binoculars to watch the ship sink.
"Won't be seeing them again," I said under my breath, then louder, "I love you Brittany."
"I love you too Adam," she replied sleepily.
    Life was looking good.

I was leaning on a floating plank surrounded by my drowning crew.
    "I haven't been beaten yet."
