I love original names (if they sound good) as well as poetic names such as season and month or names like Luz del Alba (literally translates to Light of Dawn).
@quimey a lotta people do. Maybe I'm a judgemental horrible person but I side-eye tf out of all the i've met who named their children: Ryder, Stormy, Windyboy, Vitakai, etc. I also know an Ocean which isn't as bad as it could be ig but people make wave jokes at her all the time and she is the worst sport about it.
“windyboy” LOL ppl make space jokes bc of my name star too like “you must be out of this world” or “you shine brightly like a star” and im like lol ive heard that before but ok
windyboy is actually one of my cousins his mom was tryna be 'cultural' and give him a native name but...windyboy is in english so it doesn't rly work. It's even worse cuz when he grows up they're still gonna be calling him windyBOY
I totally want to meet this cousin of yours at our wedding. Seems like the kind of person I'd like to party with. ???
oh my god please tell me she is of native descent- if not then YIKES. i’m actually half native and both my adopted parents are full native and usually you have to do a ceremony and go to a sweat lodge to receive a native name. :s like they aren’t born with it. My dad didn’t receive his native name until he was in his 50s.
Yeah my family is cree lmao. If we weren't that would be so cringy. it's still cringy actually They all know how ceremony names work too (you can also get it from sun dances per cree tradition). My aunt's just weird af
One of the hosts of my favourite podcast (Last Podcast on the Left) does a hilarious character called Detective Popcorn so I got it from them.
