  1. Fun short story that happened a few Christmases ago. We were at my husbandā€™s parentā€™s house for our Christmas drinking and playing party/family games. I canā€™t remember what game we were specifically playing but all I remember is not being able to finish my drink - because I got too much and canā€™t handle alcohol very well - but my hubby can and we had got the same drink :)

So when he wasnā€™t paying attention I would pour a little of mine into his cup, fill it to about where he was before he took a drink, and just keep holding it until he wanted another drink. Rinse and repeat.

Now my cup is empty but he still has about 1/4th of his and he has to use the restroom. He stands up, goes to the bathroom, comes back and says ā€œuuhhohhhā€¦. Iā€™m more drunk than I think I amā€¦ā€ and then he looks at his cup and sees itā€™s almost empty, ā€œI guess it was just stronger than I thoughtā€
I respond: ā€œwell you did drink mine as wellā€
    Him: ā€œlike I grabbed your cup?ā€
Me: ā€œno like Iā€™ve been pouring little by little into your cup and hoped you didnā€™t realizeā€
His dad just breaks out in laughter, which causes us to break out in laughter.

And thatā€™s the story about how my husband got smashed without realizing it.šŸ˜‚

  2. My favorite holidays are(can't pick one cause there's many of my childhood and memorable) from my childhood only when my parents were together and since I'm only child they made my holidays extra special. I remember waking up early in the morning getting ready going to relatives places or wait them to come, eating together as a whole big family Playing with my cousins, listening stories from my grandparents about their youth, getting gifts on specific events and money, and just really being free and literally enjoy my holidays.
As i grow up i don't really celebrate anything nowšŸ˜Ÿ

  5. my favourite memory of a holiday goes back to the year 2011. it was during eidul fitr. usually eidul fitr is celebrated the same for me every year: every morning after me and my family come home from prayers, weā€™ll have breakfast and then weā€™ll take turns going around and asking forgiveness for whatever we did throughout the year(always emotional but the younger ones[me] usually get money packetsšŸ§§ hehe). then everyone gets in the car and we drive to my parentsā€™ hometown to visit relatives and FEAST! it was great bcs each relative we visited we get to eat their specialty dishes and by evening when we come back home everyone goes into food coma and get to experience the best nap ever.

thats usually how eid always go for me. but nowadays it doesnt really feel the same because everyoneā€™s grown up and sometimes not everyone shows up. thats why it was my favourite back in 2011. i was small and everything was bright and cheerful, everyone was present, and it was a holiday i always looked forward to ā˜ŗļø

  6. My favourite holiday memory will always be during Chinese New Year, when I was visiting my great grandmotherā€™s place. Every time I visit her, weā€™d yell down the walkway as we head to her house (she lives in a flat and in older flats, it would mostly be elderly that live in these buildings - so itā€™s common to be a little chaotic, despite the neighbours and all).

Weā€™d put our shoes at her doorstep, wish her and my uncle ā€œHappy Chinese New Yearā€, and weā€™d immediately get to yapping. But for me, I always enjoyed her old and quaint home - itā€™s small yet homey. Very fitting for a small woman like herself. (her voice would scare you because she doesnā€™t sound like your typical 93 year old grandmother, she sounds like she has a built in megaphone in her throat)

Sheā€™d always spoil me and my younger brother with Chinese New Year snacks - mainly pineapple tarts, bakkwa/rou gan, and prawn rolls that theyā€™d buy from well-known stores. And Iā€™d never fail to get the usual questions like whether I have a boyfriend, and why I look like Iā€™ve gained weight (ouch), and when Iā€™m going to get married and have kids. Other than that, thereā€™d be random things like gambling in the ā€œcool kidsā€™ā€ room (poker or mahjong), or simply just chilling in the living room and watching Chinese New Year themed films.

And of course, it wouldbā€™t be Chinese New Year if there wasnā€™t the usual gossip and drama that goes on with all the adults. Being someone who loves tea, I would sit at the corner of the living room with my younger brother, weā€™d both sit and game together, whilst listening in on all the family drama. Last year, I heard my relative got someone knocked up. Again. And apparently itā€™s an affair.

Itā€™s core memories like these that makes occasions fun and enjoyable, and despite me hating the idea of heading out to visit housesā€¦ I love that I still get free money, and I get to snack. A lot. ;) (and skip work the after a day or two because Iā€™d end up with a sore throat and a really bad cough from everything I ate hehe)

  7. My favorite holiday memory was christmas in 2021, covid had just calmed down and we were able to fly over to my home country to visit my family for the holidays. After not having been able to hold each other for 2 years it was great seeing each other again.
To finish the holiday off we missed our flight back on Boxing day and were forced to spend 24h on the airport. We didn't book a hotel, we just explored all night and day and it's still one of my fondest memories till date.

  8. My favourite holiday memory

My favorite holiday memory is Halloween circa 2009.

It was colder than usual in a Canadian fall, and snow had already started to stick. My family always did their best to drive me and my sister to the ā€œrich housesā€ throughout the town to get the best candy that the middle class could buy.

I wore a fuzzy coat, a cheap headband with cat ears and painted my face the second I got home from school, excited to get my share of free candy.

My mom, who is quite short decided she wanted to try trick or treating with us. She threw a cheap mask on and walked from door to door. No one questioned or cared that an older woman was trying to get some free candy alongside her daughters.

At the end of the night, our feet and legs were sore from trekking the journey, dragging our pillowcases full of chips, chocolates, gummies and the few cans and bottles of pop. Exhausted but excited, me my sister and my mom sat watching Dawn of the Dead (a movie which I wasnā€™t allowed to watch before due to my age) and separated our treats.

It may seem like an average Halloween to most, but as my family suffered from mental health problems as well as physical health problems, it was pretty rare we all spent a full day together with no issues. To this day Halloween is my favourite holiday and my mom is to thank for her efforts and going out of her way to help make it as fun as possible however she could ā¤ļø

  9. One of my favorite holiday memories is spending Christmas with family. We decorated the tree together, played games, and shared stories by the fire. The joy of exchanging gifts and enjoying a festive meal filled the house with warmth. It was a peaceful time of connection, laughter, and making lasting memories with those I love.

  10. One of my favorite holiday memories is from a time when I celebrated Eid with my extended family. The morning began with a special prayer at the mosque, where the community gathered in joyful unity. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as everyone greeted each other with "Eid Mubarak."āœØ
After the prayer, we went back home, where the table was overflowing with delicious food, from biryani to sweets like sheer kurma and baklava. The best part was sharing stories, laughter, and moments of gratitude with family members who had traveled from different places. The day was also filled with giving, as we exchanged gifts and made donations to those in need, keeping the spirit of Eid alive.
It was a beautiful blend of faith, family, and loveā€”a day that reminded me of the importance of gratitude, generosity, and community.šŸ’•

  11. My favorite holiday memory was the Christmas right after we adopted my kitten, Sprout. Weā€™d had her about 2 months at this point so it was her first Christmas. And in turn first time seeing a Christmas tree. We hadnā€™t even finished putting out tree up when she started climbing in it, which then prompted my other 2 cats to do the same. That was the first time theyā€™d done that and itā€™s been a ā€œtraditionā€ for them ever since.

  12. šŸ˜˜šŸ’—Christmas holidays are a magical time filled with joy, love, and festive cheer. Itā€™s a season to gather with family and friends, decorate vibrant trees, and exchange heartfelt gifts. The air feels alive with carols, twinkling lights, and the aroma of delicious treats like cookies and cakes. For me, itā€™s a time to relax, reflect, and enjoy the warmth of togetherness. Whether it's watching classic holiday movies, sipping hot chocolate, or simply embracing the spirit of giving, Christmas holidays create lasting memories. They remind us to cherish what truly matters and spread kindness to everyone around us.

  13. One of my favorite New Yearā€™s Eve memories was a spontaneous night spent with some close friends I knew since highschool šŸ„¹. We had no real plans, just chilling and vibing like we always do but weā€™re adults now, so it feels more fun lol! We decided to go to a fireworks store across state line and buy $200 worth of fireworks šŸ˜‚ There was this abandoned building with a big parking lot in our home town. Itā€™s been like 10 years and they still not doing anything with that building šŸ™„ So we decided to take advantage šŸ˜† We lit each and every firework we bought and it was amazing!! 10/10 would probably do it again if police wasnā€™t called on us during the very end šŸ˜‚ We still made it into the new year with good vibes and good friendship. Weā€™re all so deep into our career/homemaking/family planning that we havenā€™t hung out on NYE together since then, but we always talk about that NYE memory and share the videos in our group chat every year lol.

  14. My favorite family memory is from New Year's eve a couple of years ago. I was maybe 14 at the time, but I always looked forward to New Year's eve. We would gather the empty present boxes and torn wrapping paper to use for a bonfire. My uncles would get me and my cousins all the necessary supplies for smores to roast and enjoy. I liked it because everyone was happy at those times. Those times were meant to be enjoyed by everyone. From us kids enjoying hot marshmallows to our adult family members sharing a drink and laughing together. I especially remember my drunk uncle telling me how proud he was of me and my brother. It was late and almost everybody was asleep but there he was on the couch sniffling and hugging me and my brother. I don't quite remember what he was babbling on about but I will always remember him saying how proud he was. My aunt had to drag him off to bed while me and my brother had to get down to sleep. I went to bed so happy that night. That's why I will always wish for more happy memories with my family every New Year's. To also hopefully, let my family fall asleep happy.

  16. This is a memory I hold dear to me. For me, Chinese New Year has always been my favourite holiday ā¤ļø Itā€™s not just about the food or the new clothes I get to wear, but about family bonding. Everyone coming together, laughing, joking, and just having a good time. You canā€™t beat that feeling. You can even get to hear gossip but then you'll get stressed from your aunties asking you a ton of super private and annoying questions.... šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’ØšŸ˜’

The clothesā€¦ every year I can get something new, usually red because itā€™s lucky for the Chinese šŸ’ƒBut honestly, itā€™s not about the clothes. Itā€™s about the family, the traditions, and the happy vibe it brings.

The best part? My grandparents šŸ§“šŸ»šŸ‘“šŸ». I was definitely their favourite (shh don't tell anyone šŸ¤šŸ¤«) And Grandmaā€™s cooking? I miss it so much. Sheā€™d cook all my favourite dishes such as curry chicken and fish balls (I was childish and only knew how to eat 2 dishes when there was an abundance of foodšŸ˜¶) and nothing ever tasted like hers. I used to sneak food when no one was looking. I really wish I had taken the time to learn her other recipes that I now know how to eat. Sadly, itā€™s too late.

And the angpaošŸ§§ Red envelope with money, every year. Itā€™s like magic, money appearing before me. Iā€™d usually just take it, no shame to that. Family, food, clothes, and a bit of cash for me to spend on my essential (I only remembered that I spent that on things I didn't need šŸ˜”) Best combination ever!

But nowā€¦ everythingā€™s different. I miss my grandparents so much. I miss Grandmaā€™s cooking, Grandpaā€™s stories, the house full of people. Now, I canā€™t taste that food anymore, and I really wish I had learned how to make it. I regret it very much šŸ˜”

Chinese New Year used to mean everything. It felt so right. Now, I just hold on to those memories deep in my heart ā™„ļøšŸ’”ā™„ļø

  17. My favorite holiday memory was when I was a child. I always looked forward to Christmas because it was the only time of the year I got new and beautiful clothes. It was also the time I felt the most joy, especially when I saw the sparkle and glow of Christmas lights from every house we passed. My cousins and I would go caroling together, and weā€™d come home with big smiles on our faces because we had collected a lot of coins. Christmas was also special because it was the time we received money and gifts from our godparents.

Christmas has always been a season of simple joys for me, from the glow of lights to the sound of laughter shared with family. It reminds me that the true beauty of the holidays isnā€™t just in the gifts but in the moments we create with the people we love.

  18. my favorite holiday memory is going on a boat on very quiet lake in utah with my family during fourth of july weekend. as soon as we were in the middle of the lake, the boat ran out of gas & we were stuck there. it was hot! i was little so i was panicked! and i just wanted to get off that boat! so we jumped ship and swam cause we were not about to be stuck on boat in the middle of summer for any type of assistance! my dad ended up getting the situation resolved, but it was such a funny great little memory that to this day we all give my dad a hard time for :p

  19. Favorite holiday moment: the first Christmas my son and daughter had together. My son was so excited to wake up early and sing his little sister christmas carols to wake her up. He spent the whole morning helping her open presents and holding her close. They played all day and cuddled into the evening watching Christmas movies until they fell asleep one next to the other holding hands.
