My favorite holiday memory and also tradition is watching/helping my dad make a classic fruitcake with marzipan coating and then we add a little ice skating scene on top for Christmas dinner. No one really eats it because ew, fruit cake, but itβs tradition!! The scene changes every year as we get new little decorations and decide to change up how we score the marzipan, etc. βΈοΈ My grandma used to make the cake, but since sheβs passed my dad has taken over. The first year without her was a very bittersweet experience as we decorated the cake with her ice skating figures. β€οΈ Looking forward to it again this year!
Okay so Christmas is my fav holiday and here is my story. So when I was little I would always go over to my grandparents and my grandpa and I were thick as thieves. Whenever I wanted a snack or drink right before dinner he would always sneak me things especially the desserts and stuff. I always sat beside him and when I would get full he would sneakily take my leftovers and make it look like I finished dinner so I could still get dessert. When my grandma would give me a small piece say of cake or pie he would give me his bigger piece π My grandpa recently passed away last year so holidays will be a little different but will always remember the sweet gestures he did for me. I love you too the moon grandpa πππ» xx
Favorite holiday moment would be on Christmas, years ago when my cousin bought "the toe of satan" lollipop. It's like a spicy candy and I almost went to the hospital that day because of pride. Yes, I won $20 keeping it in my mouth for 20 minutes
My favourite holiday memories are definitely from having Easter hunts during ponycamps as a kid. When I started horseriding in primary school there would be ponycamps over the school holidays and coincidentally it was during Easter most years.(Never grew out of the horse girl phase tho)So our riding instructor would host Easter egg hunts after we did fun activities with the ponies like dyeing their manes and tails with horse safe dye.The excitement of searching and trading eggs with friends after is one of my fondest memories to this day.Back when I still believed in the Easter bunnyπ
Hm okay, my story is ab Christmas: lovely and funny but unforgettable. βΊοΈ One Christmas, my family spent the holidays in a small mountain village. It was a quiet, cozy trip, just us in a rented cabin, surrounded by snow-covered trees. On Christmas Eve, after dinner, we decided to take a walk to enjoy the stillness. The night was peaceful, with soft lights twinkling from the cottages. We walked on a narrow snow road, until we came across a stuck car in a snow bank..There was a man and his teenage son behind it, trying to get it free but with no results. We offered our services, and subsequently, with plenty of shoves, slips, and lots of laughter, the car received its momentum once again. He was so grateful that he invited us to join them for hot chocolate at their cabin. We spent the evening talking and laughing, and I found myself clicking instantly with his son: kind, funny, and this way of making me feel like I'd known him forever. (Ps. my mom adored him from the moment we met). Fast forward a few years, that boy is now my husband hihihi. We still joke that it all started because his dad couldn't handle driving in the snow. We take a nighttime walk, just like that first one, to remind us of how our story began.π We tell the story every Christmas and laugh at how fate works in the strangest ways. So yes, guys we were each otherβs Christmas miracles. π₯Ήπ
My favorite holiday memories stem from Black Friday shopping with the family. Itβs rare these days now that us, grandchildren, are grown up to all get together. Weβd have thanksgiving dinner, me and my cousin would pull the wishbone together, sleep and then wake up early the next morning to shop! The chaos of it with the family was always so fun. One year, my phone slipped out of my pocket and thankfully a kind stranger met up with me and gave it back when they found it! Watching people fight over things. π I donβt see it much anymore since most people just order things online nowadays.
My favorite holiday would have to be Christmas. One memory that I will never for get was back in 2017 when my great grandmother was still with us. She would love when the whole family got together and played mini games to win prizes. My aunts would go crazy trying to win and my uncles would just sit and laugh. My abuelita would sit there and just smile. I would love it when she would try to sneak money in your hand so your parents wouldnβt know. Memories
I think my favourite holiday memory would be with my dad, I always cherished those moments with him, and every morning, every christmas he'd be the last to wake up and lord knows me and my little brother wouldn't end up opening presents until it was close to 9-10am meanwhile all the other kids were done π He was always a pain ti get up, but seeing the smile on his face while we opened our gifts meant the world to us anyways. Not the time
My favorite holiday memory would have to be my last Christmas with my grandmother. I have family that live up north so itβs hard for us to get together but we all managed to make time that Christmas (perhaps because we already knew it would be our last with her but didnβt want to say it out loud). We had to have at least 25 people at the house. It was chaotic and loud just like my family always is when we are together. All of us showered my grandma with gifts (many were things to help her through her chemo and give her comfort). I remember her just sitting on the couch smiling as she just observed everyone, as if taking it all in. My grandmother was a fairly petite and quiet lady but she always enjoyed watching my family be together whether it be yelling at a baseball game or slamming dominos on the domino table. So Iβm glad she got to see it all with the atmosphere that is Christmas ontop of it. She loved Christmas. The lights, the smell, the music. I still have the video of her dancing with my grandfather in-front of the tree. I would give up every other holiday memory i have to relive that one again. π€
My favorite recent holiday memory would be new years last year. A group of friends and I went on a trip for winter break and stayed at an air bnb. We celebrated by cooking dinner together, celebrating with some bubblies, followed by some drinking games. We watched singles inferno throughout the whole trip, and it was overall just a super fun experience.
Most unforgettable holiday: "Christmas Eve (2020)" On December 24, 2020, we prepared many foods. This is the first Christmas Eve that we have ever celebrated. Mostly, we went to church and went to the mall for shopping, watching movies, and having dinner. That day is very different. That day is the last holiday that we celebrate with my dad. My dad is a healthy guy, but my mom is not. Mom had been diagnosed with diabetes. She undergoes eye surgery. Her first surgery was successful. We didn't continues it because my dad got sick. My dad's condition is very mystery. All of his medical exams are good, but all of his doctors doesn't know the reasons why he can't walk. They said that 'maybe' he has a cancer. Back to reality, my dad acts like a child. When he saw those foods on the table, he seemed very happy and excited. We went to table and start digging. We are hoping that my dad will be fine. Everyone tried to be happy and forget the pain for the moment. After that day, something happened. Dad suddenly forgot us but he knew in his heart that we're his family. He doesn't remember my mom's name but he calling her "my love" or "my wife". He calling me as "bebe" even though it is my younger sister's nickname. For my older sister, he also calling her as "bebe" too. On December 27, this is the last day of my dad. He died because of choked. Doctor and nurses tried to survived him but he is dead on arrival. On December 31 (New Year's Eve), our home is not brightly as before. We tried to celebrate it but we always ended up crying. Note: I can't tell you guys what I've been through. This is kinda sad. I made it short. I don't like everyone felt sad about it. I already moved on somehow. My mom is not fully healed because imagine that you lost your dad (my grandpa) in 2018, your mom ( my grandma) in 2019 and your partner in life (my dad) in 2020. It's freaking sucks.
My favorite holiday moment is when all my big family came together at our late grandfather's house. Though its only once a year, we were cooking, chatting and doing activities together. I look forward to it every year and cant wait to see them again.
my favorite holiday memory is when my family would celebrate chinese new year with extended family! i loved big family events where we all ate together, the kids played together and we would have fun activities to win more lucky money. we don't do it anymore bc i guess we all grew further apart as everyone is getting older and the newer generation (my gen) is expanding. i enjoy spending time with my own family too but it felt special and fun when celebrating with more people!
my favorite holiday memory has to be spending the days before Christmas with my grandma to help her prepare and bake everything ( she made quite a bit of desserts ), i still do it every year now, itβs become tradition , sheβs taught me how to make and bake certain things and sheβs part of the reason why i want to get a degree in culinary <3.
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. I enjoy cooking with mom when I was little and this is a tradition I hope to carry to my future children.
Hi ,I'm from Jamaica and my memory is from Christmas when I was four. My family came from humble beginnings so we didnt have much. We just celebrated with whatever was provided and we were still happy as kids because we didnt know any different. That Christmas was different though. I lived with my extended family and my aunt came home one day with an Christmas tree, I remember feeling like I was gonna explode to how happy I wasπ€£ we've never seen one upclose. Only on Tv or people houses so of course when we saw it, it created a buzz. All the kids, meaning me and my cousin gathered around and helped to decorate it, my cousin placed the star. In the night they turned on the lights and it was so beautiful. The lights also had a song playing in them that hummed holy night and we wish you a merry Christmas. The next day which was Christmas eve we went to the grand market, dressed up all nice and we ate food and bought toys. On Christmas day we were actually given toys for the first time. Which was a surprise. I got a bugs bunny plushie. We ate tons of food, pudding, ham, black fruit cake and coconut drops. It was amazing and it marked the moment my family slowly transitioned to a better financial state. I smile when I remember it because even tho we were poor the love and unity around us made us happy and even when we got more it didnt change anything. Thank you for dragging my memory β€οΈ
My fav memorie was dressing up as santa and deliver to kids in my family and some family friends kids who couldnt do much for there kids so we suprised and helped them out.
Favorite Holiday memory was when my mother was able to live with my family and my parents were still together after she spent time away for a reason I wonβt share. It was Christmas and it felt much more vibrant and festive; we decorated the house.. bought a huge tree and decorated it all over with custom made ornaments to regular ornaments, had gifts wrapped for each other and our dog. It was a very family warm and joyful holiday unlike the ones before without her so itβs a nice fond one of mine
