One of my favorite holiday memories is from when I was a child, and my family went to a small cabin in the mountains for Christmas. We had decided to spend the holiday away from the usual bustle, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable. The snow was thick and soft outside, covering everything in a beautiful blanket of white. Inside, we spent the day playing board games and building a massive snowman in the yard. As evening approached, we lit a fire in the wood stove, and the warmth filled the cabin. My siblings and I sat around, sipping hot cocoa, while our parents told stories of past holidays. We all felt cozy and content, wrapped in blankets, with the glow of the fire casting shadows on the wooden walls. The best part was when we all sang Christmas carols together, even though we were off-key. The sense of peace and togetherness was unforgettable, and that holiday became a tradition that I always look back on fondly.
My favorite holiday memory was during Songkran, the Thai New Year. My friends and I armed ourselves with water guns and buckets, ready for an epic street battle. Things were going great until an elderly woman with a tiny, flower-patterned water gun ambushed us. She had the best aim and managed to drench every one of us while laughing like she was the queen of Songkran. By the end of the day, we were soaked, exhausted, and thoroughly defeated by the grandma with the ultimate water warrior spirit. It was the most fun I’ve ever had losing a "fight".
Me favorite holiday memory is from when i was little. My family didn't do the Santas gift the way is done usually - finding presents under the Christmas tree on the Christmas morning. We would sit all together for a dinner, sometimes just me, my dad and my grandma (his mum), sometimes in wider family circle. My dad used to tell me that Santa comes and everytime when I hear fireworks outside is a time when he drops a gift to a child haha. So everytime when there are fireworks on the Christmas day I would run excited to the window or outside, trying to see Santa's sled flying somewhere. Conveniently of course he used one of thoso moments to drop the gifts at the front door or under the tree or anywhere at all. Then would fake a knock saying "Wait, did you hear that???" and i would run on a gifts hunt around the house trying to find out where Santa dropped them this time hahaha.
When I was growing up, my father was often away for work, even during the holidays. But when I was 14 years old, one miraculous Christmas, he was finally home. I remember the joy and excitement that filled our house that year—we were all together, truly complete as a family. The most unforgettable part of that holiday was when he took me and my brothers to a firing range. It was thrilling, and for once, it felt like we were all bonding in a way we hadn’t before. I can still see the look on my brothers' faces when I outshot them, hitting the target better than they did. I wore the most annoyingly smug grin, basking in the victory, while they fumed in playful frustration. That Christmas remains my favorite holiday of all time. It wasn’t just about the gifts or the celebrations—it was about the rare and precious moments we shared as a family, united and happy. It’s a memory I’ll treasure forever.
Christmas 2014, My twin boys came very early and arrived at 5:20 and 5:21AM Christmas morning 🧡 Best Gifts Ever 🎁🎁👶🏼👶🏼
One year right before Christmas, my dad was in an awful car accident. You know the kind where they call your house and tell you that you better get to the hospital quick? Anyway, I was young. Maybe 7 or 8 years old? I specifically remember just bawling in my room confused about what was happening So my dad eventually got released but he had a broken sternum. So he couldn't work for a while and was in immense pain any time he coughed. None of us were really looking forward to Christmas that year. My dad worked at a small city school district as a janitor. He wasn't an administrator or a teacher, he worked in the maintenance department. One chilly night close to Christmas, one of the teachers from my dads school showed up with boxes taller than me FILLED with toys and books and gifts for my family. I get teary eyed just thinking about it. I couldn't believe they went through all of that trouble for us. I'm now 20 and that still is and probably always will be my favorite Christmas. It opened my eyes to the kindness that people have, even for those "low" on the totem pole.
i love how bright and lit up everything is around the holidays 🥹✨ my favourite holiday tradition growing up with my family was always to drive around near Christmas and look at how everyone decorated their houses and just how festive everything was. growing older, i’ve been so grateful to continue old traditions and also be able to make new memories with the people i love - one is decorating the tree and putting up lights and decorations with one of my closest friends (my rs) while listening to our favourite songs (“golden hour” perfectly timed for when we plug in the lights for the first time ✨)
My fav holiday memory was when I was a kid, back before I immigrated to Canada and I lived in the Philippines. It wasn’t a specific year or anything, but every New Year’s Eve, the kids who lived down my street and I would try to stay up until 12 am by singing karaoke on the karaoke machine and even doing Just Dance dances on Youtube. And then once the clock struck 12, my grandma would bring out pots and pans and start clanking them together to make these loud noises, meanwhile I was trying to jump as high as I could because there was this silly little superstition that the higher you jump, the taller you’ll grow (apparently I didn’t jump high enough, I’m 5’1 🥲)
My favorite Holiday(s) memory is every Christmas we have a Rappie Pie (Acadian Dish) for Christmas dinner and it's one of my favorite meals. Only really have it on Christmas now but always brings up fond memories of being with family especially during the holidays
My favorite holiday memory is spending time in the kitchen with my grandma and decoratingher house. She would always set out a plan of what all needed made and we would work on them together. We always started with a favorite dish of ours called bierox, then on to ham, turkey, stuffing, tamales, and then move on to desserts from fruit salad, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, lemon meringue pie, ice cream, and fudge. We even made a little snacking station cause we knew it was gonna take all day to get everything done it had a charcuterie board and chips and dip. When it came to decorating she had a tree for each window of her house, blow ups, a village, a 6 foot santa sitting with kids reading, lights, and a 12 foot tree. Each tree had a specific set of ornaments that went to it we started on the top floor and did the 12 foot tree first and all of the windows up there. Once finished with the upstairs we started the village we had to get out 5 long tables and each house, tree, pond, and person had a certain place to go. After the village was all set we would finish the rest of the trees for each window. We had a very big family that everyone would join for dinner and gifting. I absolutely miss my grandma especially during the holidays and her recipes are all I have left windows. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas 🫶🏻.
My favourite holiday memory is Christmas of 2014. My parents divorced when I was 9 and after my mom left, Christmas was never the same. My bf and I started dating in 2013 and when he invited me over for Christmas with his family the following year I was very skeptical because I began to hate the holiday. I agreed and after gift opening, we all stood around a table and passed a huge ball of plastic wrap around. I was very confused and didn’t understand. They explained there was small gifts inside ranging from chocolates and gloves to gift cards and cash. The point was to unwrap one sheet if you had the ball when the music stopped and try to get the gift, before the music started again. It seemed so silly to me because it was plastic wrap. However, the joy and laughter that came from that table for the hour we did it, I will never forget. It didn’t matter what they were doing. It was the fact they were doing it together and creating memories. I will always be thankful to my second family, as Christmas probably would have never changed for me, if it wasn’t for that day 💜
One of my favourite holiday memories was at Christmas. When I was a kid I'm not sure how old exactly but pretty young. Me and my uncle got my grandparents a gift card. But we wanted to have a little fun with it. Instead of putting it in card we put it in a tiny box, and then that box into a slightly larger box, then into another box and so on. It must have been like 10 boxes and it was a huge box at the end. We also wrapped everything. When they were opening it they were so confused and by the 4th box they were like okay what the heck is going on lol. Eventually they got to the end and found the gift card and we all laughed about it. It's a simple story but one that still makes me laugh!
Favorite holiday would surely be this year's Halloween! The day started with me and my girls dressing up and doing a photoshoot in this abandoned building–it was 3AM. Everyone was cold and lowkey spooked but it was fun walking around in our costumes trying to be quiet and sneaky, which was more difficult than it sounded as my friends always have something funny to say. Went home at around 7AM, rested, shared tea, got stuffed with good food, and got ready again 'til it's time for club hopping that lasted 'til 3AM. The day ended with us just chilling in a park watching stars while sharing scary stories.
My favorite holiday memory has to be the tradition my family has made. Every year on Christmas Eve we go to my grandmothers in Christmas pajamas and watch Christmas movies. But the best part is the hot chocolate we make, it’s always freshly made hot chocolate and it’s so so good. I genuinely can’t wait for Christmas Eve this year I’m so excited for hot chocolate 😋
My favorite holiday memory has been watching my son grow and learn to open his presents by himself and to watch how much joy he gets from seeing the surprises within the paper. We also have a tradition to look at lights around our community. Merry Christmas everyone!
I have a sweet memory of Swarasati Puja, a Hindu festival. I was in seventh standard at the time...years back. We frnds had gone to my one frnd's house. N I didn't know the she had invited our school teachers. So after Puja, they came (two sirs. One teach hindi n another Sanskrit) and it was so much fun with them. We chated for a long time, played games, Sans. sir taught us to blow shells🐚, I just couldn't do it, n now have forgotten it🤷🏽♀️. They stayed with us for a long time, it is a great memory of me.
My favorite holiday memory was Christmas 2015. Back then, my sisters and I are all living in the same house. We would spend the night before helping mom prepare food. We would also dress up and take photos. Singing karaoke, playing games, and eating good food. Everything felt peaceful and happy.
