If you want to know about the guard or any branch contact a local recruiter. It's their job to inform you....just don't sign anything
The guard isn't a separate branch, it's a subdivision of the branches, for example Army National Guard, Air Guard, I don't think Marines have the guards, idk about Navy. Or the coast guard ._.
^ata changed my name to this. I used to have a bypass at the end and they just dropped the end on it. As far as op question, if u are scared, dont join any of them. Duh.
If you join the guard of any branch, you have to attend the full recruit and job training regimen. And, given Iraq and Afghanistan, national guard and reservists can be deployed. So if you are scared of being a warrior and just want benefits, I suggest applying for scholarships,
It's better if you talk to people who have been in the Army / Marines umm mainly because they can tell you what they do and the selection of Jobs because its all like shooting and stuff but yeah before considering national guard talk to them and see how it is of course the Marines is the hardest military branch to join but it's still always good to know
The military ain't nothing to be afraid of, not saying it's easy, neither is it hard, just go reserves first and try it out, if you like it, after your 2-4yr contract is up, re-up into active.
Marines don't have their own guard. The marines are a branch of the navy. There are three main forces in us armed forces. Army Air Force and navy. Marines is not their own force. They are part of the navy. (Marine life is water animals etc. ) but national guard is first line of defense if there's an attack on US soil. They guard the nation. Hence why they are called the national guard. They literally do nothing until out homeland is attacked. Then they get called in so we don't have to withdraw overseas troops
Many of these statements are just not true, while guard or reserves may never deploy many will. After sep 11 we seen thousands of both Army and Air Force guard/reserve troops in Iraq and other forward deployed countries. While the guards job is primarily designed to serve a home mission you can be activated to active duty and from that point either backfill a local base or be forward deployed.
