Mathematics Thread

  1. Well I'm taking university calculus and I'm in a special plan that does 3 semesters of calculus in 2 semesters but still covers everything so it moves at lightning pace but I'm doing fine.

Make sure to go in for tutoring or post on this math thread if you don't understand your math homework. As long as you understand your math homework you should be good on your tests which are supposed to be a major part of your grade. Difficulty varies with school/professor/your strengths but approaching math class the right way is also a key to success.

  2. Nephirus, that equals 1  thanks for the silly questions

  3.  neph come on dude

  4. It's always good to look back over your textbook and homework before tests. Working out practice problems is good as well. The more math problems you has worked out when going into an exam, the more comfortable you will feel.

  5. I feel like the biggest difference between high school and university calculus is the pace. I'm in math class for 3 hrs a week and one semester per class. High school was 5 hrs a week for a year. The teacher just doesn't work out as many problems in class. This is why it's key to seek help outside of class if you need it. Seeking help outside of class is probably the single biggest thing you will need to do to be successful at this AS math assuming that it's similar to my university format.

  6. I have another question 

I am also doing Chemistry along with Maths and Biology, do you think it will be hard to balance all three of those subjects since they're so intense?

  7. Lol sometimes the professor works out 2 or 3 problems for something super fast then moves on to next concept then next concept and keeps going 

  8. AS maths is something you do in college, but I'm unsure of the equivalent in the U.S

  9. Chemistry is, really, just more math. So I'd say you're fine there. Science was never my strong suit, so I'd say it'd depend on how well you do with sciences that will dictate if you can juggle biology, Chen, and Calc.

    (Just my opinion ).

  10. That's a little bit tough but very manageable. My roomate and sister are in biology and chemistry and calculus and two more classes. They both attend my university. Biology is a lot of reading and chemistry/math is more problem solving. Chemistry does of course have some reading. Make sure to get help for both chemistry and math outside of class and attend tutoring. For biology it is more about reading and memorizing and then applying your knowledge if at upper levels.

  11. Royale, Chemistry is my strongest out of the sciences.
I'm just worried about the workload in college

  12. This is math. I got problems so I want answers 

  13. I always think that it's good to try to take problem solving classes and reading classes. A problem solving class would be something you may need to go to tutoring for if you don't understand how to solve something. A reading class could be sociology, English, government, or classes that you typically read if you need help and don't really attend tutoring for. My university is very hard and I feel like if I take all problem solving classes then if I have to attend tutoring for every class, I might not be able to because I can ony go at certain times. Whereas for reading classes you don't really attend tutoring. I can read whenever but free tutoring is only open at certain times.

  14. juanita!!! dont lie!!!

  15. If i(-7) equals -1 and i(6) equals i, what is i?

  16. For the first semester you can consider taking a light course load or refraining from joining a lot of clubs if you feel as if you need to get comfortable first. I didn't have a problem adjusting and I came from a garbage high school and attend a tough university.

  17. Buddy that is a silly question  it is impossible

  18. Is this statement true? a•c=d
    If a•z=b , b-a=f, f d=k, k/c=d, d t=u, u>t

It's really hard  I think someone would go crazy lol

  19. .-. Well it was a question in scholar bowl. The answer was like the square root of -1.
