---------------------------- Sometimes it really seemed like ‘happiness’ is a wish too difficult to fulfill. When Laverne finally woke, she found Zach nodding off to sleep at her side. She had felt his care and concern these couple of days, as she drifted in and out of consciousness. She could not comprehend why, for she must have disrupted his life and caused much trouble. She tried to sit up, and winced at the sharp ache running down her spine. Zach stirred awake and roared a loud yawn. Laverne blinked and stared at him, as his chest puffed up while he ruffled his hair. Then she turned away, blushing, when he looked into her eyes, catching her stare. Laverne bit her lips nervously, waiting for him to make the first speech. “Erm…” “Hey..” The both of them started talking at the same time. “You go ahead .. “ she muttered under her breath. “Sighs, don’t get dramatic. What’s up?” “Sorry for waking you up.” She continued. “Well, damage done, and you don’t seem very apologetic anyway.” “But… “ “So what prompted you to jump off my balcony? Have you grown wings I couldn’t see?” Laverne stared and frowned at his words, pouting slightly. “I don’t have wings!”She retorted. He leaned close in, inches away from her face, and brushed away a stray strand of hair. “But angel, you tried flying, and landed on my feet.” The both of them started chatting idly, and Laverne relaxed visibly. Zach was an easy-going man, mildly sarcastic, and yet humorous in his own way. Laverne surprised him with her candor, as she tried finding out as much information as she could. A plan started forming in her head. ----------------------------
