Tuesday Emily's POV "Emily!" Kyle ran up to me. "Hey, Kyle!" I said cheerfully. He seemed puzzled by my happiness, but continued talking. "Well, I was wondering if you'd like to go on a date?" "Ah, a fake date." I said, smiling. I felt like a mannequin. I was smiling, but dying on the inside. "No…" He hesitated. "A fake date it is!" Yes, this is the game he wanted to play. I would play, even if he didn't. Might as well make it harder for him. ••• "Emily!" Greg, a total hottie that liked me, called from behind. I didn't like him, though. Sure he was hot, but he wasn't my type. "Hey Greg!" I said. Wow. I was good at acting happy. Acting. Hear that? Acting. "Emily!" I heard Kyle's motorcycle. This was it. Play the game. Earn an extra life. Play. I grabbed Greg and kissed him. He backed away, dazed, and grinned. "What was that for?" I shrugged. "Nothing." I turned to see Kyle. He turned away when I looked at him, and drove off. Kyle's POV "Emily!" I called out. She was standing next to Greg. I wanted to give her a gift. I mean, it seemed like she wasn't mad at me anymore, and I hoped she would stop being "fake happy" when I gave her this gift. It was a rose. I had plucked it from a rose garden myself. The garden was my mother's. Honestly, I had a soft spot for my mom and Emily. Mom died two years ago, and I hadn't completely recovered yet. But Emily. Emily was amazing. Before I knew what was happening, Emily grabbed Greg's face and kissed him. I felt my heart crush right there. I drove home and threw the rose on the ground, feeling tears slip. I pounded the rose with my foot. Tears?! I can't believe it. I've never cried over a girl before. Never. I had to toughen up. But I couldn't help feeling so lonely and hopeless. This is what she'd meant. "I'll play." She'd said. "I'll play." No. I had to end it. I had to end the game. Game Over.
