  14. Retrace your steps for the day. Ignore the car first and check where you live and if you had a jacket on check that. Check all your clothes. People tend to absent-mindedly hide things and forget it's there.

    Check the car again only after you've checked everything else. Sometimes mine's slips between the driver's seat or goes under.
