They sat me in the front of the ambulance with the driver. He smiled at me kindly, "Is he related to you?" I nodded too upset to speak. "Have you both got Parents?" I nodded again. "Do you know or have any idea why he might have got injured. The driver said he waited until his car was driving towards him then stopped in the middle of the road." I shook my head, I wasn't completely being truthful here. I did know, or have a pretty good idea, why he did it. We arrived at the hospital and I whipped out my mobile immedately phoning both Mum and Dad. "Mum! It's Lucas! He was hit by a car!" I could hear her worrying at the other end of the phone. Dad on the other hand was less worried. "Gabbie, he knows better than to run in front of cars!" "I-I know but Dad-" "Goodbye Gabbie!" He put the phone down. I stood there in a mixture of feelings. I was shocked, hurt and confused. I never in my lifetime though Lucas would have ran in front of a car, this effected him badly. I was sat in the waiting room with Mum (She arrived ten minutes after I called her), when the nurse and doctor called us into their office.
Mum burst into tears, knowing what was coming, I stood there unsure of what to say or do. "We are afraid Lucas has passed away the injuries were too serious." I glanced worriedly at Mum, fighting back tears and trying to stay calm for Mums sake. She hugged me, so tightly I could barely breathe, "Gabbie I'm a failure. This is why I was sending you two away... I can't take care of my own children..." I hugged her back, tears now flowing down my face, as I was unable to hold them back. "Mum your not a failure this wasn't your fault." She only cried harder. I patted her back trying to soothe her. "I want to see my little Lucas." Me and the doctor froze. Knowing that was certainly not a good idea. "Ma'am-" Mum shook her head. "I need to see him." She pushed me away, and ran to Lucas' corpse in the next room. I sat there where she left me, confused, Hurt and upset. I hugged my knees, just letting my tears flow. Why did he go? there was no-one left for me anymore.
