I taught myself out of my French accent for a variety of reasons when I was in middle/high school. It was relatively easy because I lived in the U.S., and it just took actively working on it. Now I don't have an accent in either language, but I kind of miss my French accent. I dont sound like Im from anywhere now, haha.
Fluent in Spanish, English and French would like to learn another one but don't know which one yet haha
Fluent in Cantonese and English Learning Korean There's lots I wanna learn tbh. Maybe Mandarin cuz the Mainlanders are taking over LOL
Yea it's nice to have a little piece of reminder that you come from somewhere else. I also mildly lost my french accent, but oh well. I find people who force their accent kinda pretentious. There's a YouTube channel that i enjoy watching called alex french guy cooking, and his accent makes me cringe so much
That's because it is less foreign and intriguing to you because you are exposed to it a lot. It loses its appeal
Is that a thing? Personally i like ppl who sound similar to me *when speaking english* and what i'm used to hearing. Ppl who sound different are tolerable to listen to but i don't particularly like it
I wouldn't say I'm ashamed but it can get annoying when I have to repeat x3 something because I can't pronounce it correctly :')
Familiarity is always comfortable, but I'm refering to the psychological phenomenon called the "mere-exposure effect"
I don't really hear people forcing their French accent; most people I know are trying to get rid of their French accent. I had to look him up. Oh goodness. That is really forced sounding and cringey.
