LOL. Whoever said that thing "we don't date" sounds like someone who stays in their room all day browsing the net. LMAO
The point is: for a majority of my generation (I say my because I don't know your age), the dating scene has turned into a hookup culture. If you read the entry by Becca Tremmel on her website, she puts it into words perfectly. Our generation tends to go for what's easiest and because of technology, that's hiding behind a screen. Yes, that is a generalization but for the majority it's true. Like Tremmel says, gone are the days when someone would approach you in a coffee shop if they think you look like someone they would want to date. That's the sad truth of it. Yes, older generations go on dates because that's the norm for the culture they grew up in. However, I chose to include the "we don't date" to cover more than just how one asks someone out. It's the point that people don't really commit anymore (obviously yes, this is a generalization and there are many exceptions as this is a big world). I think the author wanted to point this out because there are probably at least a few people out there who are ignorant to this.
People will tend to take the path that leads to less pain and embarrassment because maybe we're wired that way. (Survival and all) Which is fine and all but when you merely survive, you aren't living. Just put yourself out there for what you believe is worth that risk. It takes real courage to truly love whether it's a person, a job or hobby.
Shel Silverstein was actually a brilliant guy, as well as the children's collections, he had a bunch of drug/adult poems and wrote that song for Johnny Cash... I recall in my youth going to the Library to check out his collections over and over... Very much missed by yours truely....
Really depends on what lyrics you're talking about, cause 90% of those are unoriginal repeats of lyrics found in other songs, strung together by profanity and tequila. Good rap songs are rare. I read Poe, though. His dark soul leaking through his words, exposing his demons for the world to read. His lyrical translations of the world he knew. When I read The Mask of the Red Death, I felt the fear. I like to feel what I read. I also write, so if you ever wanna hear something original hit me up.
