?Dayum. That only takes a year to learn, apparently from our teachers but we have student teachers and an American French teacher who threatened to taser us

 

I think it's just exposure. I'm native English but learning French. So I can kind of tell if something is French if I see it (usually) however, I can at least have an idea whether something is Spanish, German, Italian or Polish, just because of friends who speak that fluently.

 

Yeah, I, and the rest of my friends, learned it in sixth grade. I took Latin in high school though and that was better

I went to a small rural school district in America and I am fluent in Spanish. It's not that the schools are crappy, it's that the students are crappy and unmotivated.
