His Life... in My Hands

There was now one more day until the examination. I had survived the last few weeks and now I was scared to death of being caught or someone finding out.

"Waaah! What am I going to do?!" I cried. I placed my hands on my head and started taking deep breaths.

"Janina... calm down..." said Kyle quietly. "I-I..." he sighed.

"I'm going to be found out! I'm going to be sent home and my mother is going to kill me! She's going to kill me I just know it!" I began to pace back and forth biting my nails.

"She's not going to kill you!"

"You don't know what kind of crazy woman my mother is! She would be fine just killing me!"

"I don't think that..."

"SHE WILL!! TRUST ME!!"

He sighed and placed a hand on his forehead. He sat down on his bed and looked at me. He stared at me and then his face looked somewhat excited.

"What?" I asked.

"My cousin!"

"Your what?" I asked. "Where in the hell does your cousin fit into this?!" I demanded. "Don't say stupid things!"

"No! My cousin is one of the people performing the physical! He is part of the health department... he's still young and will probably be understanding of your situation!"

I sat on my own bed, my mouth opened. "He... you would do this for me?"

"Haha! Of course! I wouldn't mind at all, you're my friend and a complete cutie! I'm sure he won't mind either."

"C-cutie?!" I said blushing. "Don't say that! Pretend that I'm a boy!"

"You are cute. Is it wrong for me to say that? I might even fall for you if you give me a chance."

I blushed again. "SHUT UP!! Don't say things like that! That's so... So wrong! Don't... just don't. I can't be distracted by someone here... I can't fall in love with anyone here!"

He smiled. "Haha... I was joking Janina! But I have to be careful anyways," he said smiling.

I sighed. This man... There was a possible chance I might end up falling for him. I didn't love him or even 'like' him now... but if I did... Things might turn out bad. So I may have to be careful as well not to fall in love as well...
