He decided to take me to Red Lobster. I don't know how he remembered that I absolutely love Red Lobster. We parked and got out of the car. The hostess lead us to our table and gave us our menus. "What can I get you to drink?" the waitress said, looking at Cayden. "Two Sprites, please." Cayden told her. "Coming right up!" she said as she walked away. She came back a mere 2 minutes later with our drinks. As she set Cayden's down on the table, she slipped a small piece of paper underneath it. That made Cayden and I both giggle. She rolled her eyes at me. "Your server will be here momentarily." she said to us, twirling a lock of her dark brown hair on her finger. "Thanks" Cayden and I said at the same time. "So Snickers, how's it been?" Cayden asked, grinning at me. "It's been good. Well, sort of I guess." I wasn't about to give him the entire story of my life since he left. "Ahh, how's your mom and dad?" he didn't know about my dad.. Great.. "Mom's holding up... For the most part. My dad died two years ago. Actually, today's the two year anniversary..." I could feel tears beginning to well up in my eyes. "Nicole, I'm so sorry. I had no idea. I can imagine how hard that is on your mom and you." he moved to my side of the table and wrapped his arm around me. I put my head on his chest. I could smell his cologne. George Armani is what it smelled like. "Thanks Cade." I said to him. "You're welcome Snickers." with that Moved back to his side of the table. "So, how's your life and family been?" I asked him, turning my head to the side. "All in all, it's been okay." I said looking down at the table. He still hadn't removed the paper from under his glass. "Cade, you know you can tell me." I wanted to know. I wanted Cayden to trust me again. "There was a girl... Back in North Carolina, her name was Brinleigh... We were together until about a month ago. She cheated on me, with my so called best friend. My parents separated. Apparently they 'didn't click' anymore. That's why my mom though it'd be best if I came back here. Now my parents aren't going to be together the next time they get stationed. My mom didn't want me to chose between her and my dad. But I'm glad to be here with you Nic." He half smiled at me. Just then our waitress approached us. "Hi, welcome to Red Lobster. My name is Jeni and I'll be your server for today! Are you ready to order?" She asked us nicely. "Yes, I'll have the Seafood Platter, and she'll have the Shrimp Scampi, thanks" Cayden replied. "Okay. It'll be ready in about 15 minutes!" she said and quickly walked to her next table.
Cayden and I talked until our food came. We talked about everything. About out friends, family, relationships, everything. tweet tweet Speak of the devil. Dylan Texted me - Hey. Where r u? Im sorry for canceling... I saw a car like urs in the chick-fil-a parking lot... Is everything okay? It was my car, i forgot i left it there. You can't blame him for caring. For some reason, it didn't feel the same. I didn't get the urge to text him back, or call him like I used to... It was weird. "Snickers?? Earth to Nicole? Hey! Anybody home?" Cayden said knocking on the table, making me laugh. "Haha sorry. I was thinking.." I told him, eating a shrimp. "About?" he was such a curious kid when we were younger. Haha. Nothing has changed. "Oh, nothing much, you know." I said with a grin. "Ahh, I see. About life, the creation of the earth and what not.. I too do that sometimes..." He replied with a smirk, sarcasm plain in his voice. "You're so weird Cade!" I said sticking my tongue out at him. He mimicked the gesture. The waitress came back to give us our bill. "No rush, I'll come back for this whenever you are ready." she said setting it on the table. "I got it." Cayden told me, reaching for it. "Well, I would hope so. Considering the fact you said it was your treat on the way over here..." I replied grinning widely at him. "I know, I know. I'm keeping you on alert, making sure you're paying attention." he said with a childish smile. I got butterflies. Wait, hold up. What? No, Cayden was like my brother. He did Not just give me butterflies. He payed in cash so we didn't have to wait for the waitress to come back.
