Btw, on January 24th, they're gunna decide the fate of the PIPA bill. And the SOPA bill was supposed to be discussed again on January 17th (yesterday) but they postponed it to sometime in February. The internetz is at stake! Are they even allowed to pass a bill if the majority of the people of the country are against it? Last time I checked, America was democratic? Aren't they the ones always going on about personal freedom, and human rights? *not referring to American citizens, im talking about the American government
I knew, but it got even more serious today. Everyone is protesting, myself included. SOPA is slowly starting to take effect. I was on megavideo today trying to watch Doctor Who. Got through five minutes before it told me that this video is no longer available. First time that's happened to me... Pissed me off
Yeah, that's the sad thing. Most people (at least in Canada, of my age group) just heard about it today, because of Wikipedia and other websites doing their blackouts. I'm actually not from the States, so before today I only heard snippets about the whole SOPA thing, but today was the day I actually took the effort to research about it and stuff. And it scared me :/

Yes, please sign the petition. Hopefully, it'll help in convincing them not to pass the bill :/ I'm not sure for other countries how the censorship would work, hopefully if the bill is passed, it doesn't affect any other countries. Although I'm pretty sure it will, since the bill states that websites can be sued, resulting in them not being able to host advertisements (among a long list of other things), which will then result in the website not being able to continue running because of insufficient funds. Most of the websites we know and love are American, so if they're affected by the bill, there's a high chance they'll just be removed from the Internet altogether.
