A guard came in and said in a really loud voice"You are going to court in one hour! Be prepared," and left locking the door behind him. "Oh no the court is not good! They don't give in very easily we have got to be ready," Zevin said and started walking around the room looking at names of books. "Have they ever let anyone go," I ask scared to know the answer. "No not that I know of," he said grabbing a book and opening it. "Well if we loose what happens?" "They will take our leadership and put us in a jail," he said rushing through the books. "Oh no," I murmur and then remember I still didn't know why this was so important. "Why are we here? We didn't do anything but freeze a sun why is that so bad?" "Maddie I told you I can't tell you!" "I don't care!" "Fine, every time a sun freezes someone gets frozen! We froze someone but it was the one we wanted frozen the most....." "Her," I interrupted. "Yes her and when you freeze someone they can no longer live in this world so she was sent to your world," he said still reading the book. "But why were you so happy if we were getting in trouble... Ooops," I said as I realized I just admitted that I was eavesdropping the other night. "How did you know that?" "Umm I don't!" "You were eavesdropping weren't you!" "No..." "It has some tips about winning," he said not once looking up from the book. "Oh," I said and continued laying there. I kicked a couple books down and kicked a little map to. Then the guard came in and yelled"Time for court," and grabbed us and tossed us out of the room. We got to the court and they had the same judges from when I was accepted into this world and made leader. "Madelin and Zevin! What are you doing here? This is for the frozen sun not for the leaders!" "Yes sir we know," Zevin said. "Well were are the guilty ones?" "That would be us sir," he said raising his hand up. "Why would that be you now?" "Because it was us sir," he said looking down. I guess he was trying to get pity. "Why though why would you do that?!" "We didn't mean to sir," he said. I laughed silently because he was lying to the court. "I see! Well then you are free to go," at this everyone came into a fit! They were arguing it wasn't a fair trial and that the girl didn't speak. Finally he said"They want to hear from the girl," and brought me to the middle of the room. I looked back mouthing what do I do to Zevin. He shrugged his shoulders and I rolled my eyes and turned around. "Was this really an accident Madelin?" "Yes sir," I said. "Is that enough for y'all now," the judge asked the rest of the court. All around the room there were whispers and yelling and finally they all screamed at once "No!" I sighed. What else could there be to ask? "Fine but I'm tired of asking questions y'all can do that," the judge said waving his hand. They agreed and brought Zevin up with me. "How was this a so called accident?" "Madelin didn't even know about the frozen sun! There was no way we could have caused it on purpose," Zevin blurted out. "There's no way you can cause one without meaning to!" "There is sir," Zevin said. "How though?" "Like I said she didn't know about it and to cause one on purpose both people have to know." "Ok fine well how was it caused then?" Zevin looked at me and I looked at him. I nodded my head and he turned away. "A kiss sir," he said and I could see him blushing. I silently laughed again. "Ok well I think y'all are off the hook," said the judge"Does anyone reject?" Nobody rejected and we screamed and hugged in excitement. As we walked out of the court there was a group of people with cameras and a carriage waiting for us. We got in the carriage and rode to the castle. "Who were those people," I ask him. "News paper, news reporters, you name it," he replied looking out of the carriage. "Great," I murmur. This was going to be a long day. When the carriage arrived to the castle there was another group of photographers. We fought through them and finally got thorough the door and slammed it behind us. Some of the servants came and told us we had to get ready and that we had interviews. Great just great. They brought me to the same room last time they put me in a dress. "Are y'all going to make me where another dress," I asked. "Yes mam," they answered. "Well can it be blue this time?" "Certainly mam," they answered and began looking through the closet for a blue dress. When they found one it was strapless and had ruffles at the bottom. It was a turquoise color which was my favorite color. I put it on and they handed me some matching heels. I put them on and they curled my hair and put a crown in it. I looked at myself and groaned. I looked so girly! I walked down the stairs not wanting to go to the stupid meetings. I sat in a chair and looked around while I waited. Later on one of the people called for me and I came. There was an interviewer sitting at the table but Zevin wasn't there. "Where is Zevin," I asked them. "He is in a different meeting." "Oh," I said and sat down. "Ok let's get started!" "Ok," I mumbled mad that they separated us. "Did you or did you not cause the frozen sun?" "Not by myself!" "Ok so did you and...?" "Zevin of course!" "Ok did you and Zevin cause the frozen sun?" "Yes." "Ok how?" "I don't know if I should tell you that without Zevins permission." "Well go ask him!" "I don't know where he is!" "In the next room." I nod my head and walk into the next room and see him in a interview. "Ummm Zevin I hope I'm not interrupting but I need to talk to you." "Of course,"he said and got up and walked over to me. "What's wrong?" "They want to now how." "You can tell them I was actually about to come ask you the same thing." "Ok thanks," I said turning around but he grabbed my arm. I sat down and said"He said it was fine." "Ok how did y'all cause the frozen sun?" "A kiss." "Where at?" "By a waterfall on a little ledge." "When?" "Sunset." "One more thing." "Yea?" He whispers in my ear"After this we have another meeting and it's not going to be fun." I nod my head and walk back to my seat. "What others?" "It doesn't matter," I said. "Ok well back to the other question details of the first kiss?" "It was the day I became leader. When the court said I was accepted I walked over to Zevin. He was congratulating me and asking me if I really meant what I had said and when I said yes he kissed me. Then we rode to the castle." "So it was quick?" "Yes." "Ok can we have details of the night the sun froze?" "Well we had planned on going to the waterfall to see the sunset. He said he knew the perfect spot to watch it. We went to the waterfall and there was a little ledge and we climbed down and sat on it. We talked and joked around until the see sunset. I yelled that it was starting and when it was about half way down he said my name. I then looked at him and said yea. Then we kissed. When we pulled apart I could see the sun had hardly moved and I just thought it was supposed to be that way. Then we walked back to camp." "So this time it wasn't quick?" "No," "Ok I think we are done!" "Ok," I said standing up and walking to the door. I walked through right when Zevin stood up. "What meeting is next," I ask. "A big one," he said. "Oh great," I murmur. We were lead to another room and there was an interviewer at the end of the table and we say in the seats at the opposite ends. "Good evening now let's get started shall we?" We nodded our heads and I got nervous. "Ok so are you truly the ones who caused the frozen sun?" "Yes." "Why?" "We didn't do it on purpose sir," Zevin said looking at me. "I see so when was this?" "Sunset yesterday." "How did you cause this to happen?" We looked at each other and he nodded his head. "A kiss." "Awww how sweet never heard of that before! Well was this the first kiss?" So the others were quick?" We nodded our heads. "Where was this kiss at?" We explained about the waterfall and what happened. "Aww how sweet! Ok so why was it so special for y'all that it caused the frozen sun?" We looked at each other because we didn't know either. "We don't really know sir," I said. "Interesting interesting well it's ok we have pictures and videos of it all." "What do you mean you have pictures and videos," me and Zevin asked at the same time. "Oh yes we have cameras everywhere to capture moments like this!" We gaped at him. He did not have pictures and videos of us kissing did he? "Yes well I think that's enough for today. Meeting adjured!" We get up still in shock. Zevin grabs my hand. "It's ok. They won't use those against us and defiantly won't need them anytime soon! They only use pictures for magazines." I nodded my head. Who videos they're whole town? I mean excpetialy in the woods! "It will be ok I promise," he said bringing me into a hug. I nodded my head and walked out afraid the guy would get more pictures. "Maddie! Come back!" I slow down and wait for him to catch up and we walk outside just to be bombarded by more photographers. "Come on follow me," he whispers and walks off. I follow close behind until we got to a small cottage. "This is my moms old cottage," he explains. I yelled several spells and dissapeared from here to there and three fireballs at her as well. She finally let go of Zevin and fell to the ground screaming. I hit her with one last fireball and ran over to Zevin. "Are you ok?" "You saved me," he mumbled. "Yes but are you ok?" "I don't know." I put a levitation spell on him and ran with him floating behind to town. There were still a couple photographers at the door but I didn't care. I ran in the castle screaming. As everyone came up I held on to Zevins hand. "It will be ok I promise," I whisper as a tear goes down my face. Someone went down to get her and the ambulance was called. They came and got us and took Zevin straight into surgery. Great. They told me I was magically unstable and that I needed to cool off and put me in a really cold room. I screamed for them to let me see Zevin but they refused. I slid down the wall onto the floor crying. They finally opened the door and told me where he was. I ran to the room and when I opened the door he had a cast on his arm and leg. I cried thinking that that should be me and not him. It was my fault he was hurt! I made her drop him and now he was hurt. "Stop crying," he whispers and I look up and smile. "Your ok!" "Of course I am are you?" "Other then being magically unstable then yes I am," I laughed. He laughed and said"Sounds rough!" I laugh and nod my head. Just then a nurse runs in yelling "Read these magazines and watch channel 678 news!" We turn it the news and it said"Just last night the sun froze! Why you might ask? Well watch this video and find out," and they play a video behind them. It was of us in court discussing why we were innocent. When the video ended it said"That's right your fearless leaders causing the sun to freeze! They didn't mean to of course it was just a kiss! Watch this video and find out what happened!" We groaned because we knew what video they were going to show. Yep they showed the one of us kissing that day at the waterfall. When it was over the reporter said"It was believed this kiss so powerful it froze the sun! It did sure enough and we have another picture of the two earlier today running away! They came back hurt from fighting someone named her. They said Madelin defeated her. But how? Well her kissed Zevin and it made Madelin mad enough to stop her from doing that to Zevin anymore. She tried to kill Madelin but didn't succeed. Her is now dead. Here is a picture of then running away together," it then showed a picture of us running from the photographers. "Now the big question is are your leaders dating? Are they in love or are they just playing an act to get famous?" "Of course were dating!" Zevin yells at the tv. "We are," I whisper quietly. "Oh yes that's right I forgot I need to ask you something Maddie." "Yes," I said and hugged him. "Good now we have to get out of here and tell then to stop this mess about us on the tv!" When they finally released us from the hospital we went back to the castle. When we walked in there was someone sitting in a chair. It was Zevins father. "I saw the news son! Very good! A frozen sun is a good sign you know," his father said looking at me. "Why are you here," Zevin asked "The clues of course!" "We haven't found the second one yet!" "I need to speak with her," he said pointing at me. "Not without me your not," Zevin screams. "Fine you can come but you might not want to hear this," he said walking into another room. "Madelin, you two have got to stop kissing! They have took your mom and the more y'all kiss the more they will hold her and work Zevin!" "Why should I be worried about whoever they is? We can rescue her and not let him go!" "It doesn't work like that I'm afraid dear. They is a village of girls who have been after Zevin for a while now." "So basically we can't kiss, hug, hold hands or anything so that we can save him and my mom?" "Yes pretty much," he said and I ran upstairs. I ran into a random room and slammed the door plopping down on the bed. I turned on my stomach and put my head in a pillow and cried. "Why did you do that," I heard Zevin scream. "Well I'm not going to leave you alone! I will stay right here with you until you stop crying." "Don't," I begged him. "I am," he said and got up beside me hugging me. "N-n-no don't," I cried trying to shake him off. "Maddie, it's ok! I am going to stay here no matter what you say!" "Please!" "I'm staying here with you!" "They will make you work more!" "I don't care!" "Just go please!" "No simple as that." I groaned and continued to cry. He sat me up and laid me on him. I didn't care though. It felt good having someone there besides the fact he would be punished for it later. When I started running out of tears he wiped the ones on my face off. He looked at me and smiles and have me a hug. He laughed the whole time because he was squishing me. I laughed to yelling for him to let go. We laughed and laughed and soon forgot about everything that had just happened. "We should go back down before they send a search party for us," he said laughing. "Let them," I said laughing. We laughed and sat up from where we had fell laughing. Then the door bust open and we looked over in shock. "Who is in here?" "It's us calm down," Zevin said laughing. "Finally we found you! We have been looking everywhere for y'all!" "Sorry general," Zevin laughed. "You better be," the guy said and then yelled outside the door"Guys I found them they are in here!" Soon the whole room was full of people with guns and all sorts of stuff. They looked at us gaping. We laughed so hard we fell backwards and had to sit back up. "This is where you have been the whole time," one of them asks. "Yea," I said looking confused. "The servants said you weren't and that y'all went on farther!" The servants winked at us and we laughed. "We thought they needed to be alone before y'all found them," they said smiling. "Yes of course," the general said"We were just checking!" We laughed and got up and followed the rest down the stairs and to the dining room. It had almost three whole long tables in the room! We ate and was told we were under house arrest. We had to stay in the house until the day before Zevin left. House arrest sucks! All there was to do was watch the big screen and go to the indoor garden. We tried going around the house but there was nothing to find. We were bored like little kids are after they have played all day! We walked around the house in circles trying to figure out what we would do that day since it was the last we would see each other for a while. We decided on going to some place he knew of that would be fun. He wouldn't tell me where it was and was talking to the servants more. It was a total surprise and I was getting a little paranoid. I did not like not knowing things! Finally the day came and all the servants were getting me all dressed up. They were getting paranoid on how I looked. They put a dress on me and curled my hair and gave me a crown. I asked for a necklace like usual but they refused this time. I groaned and told them ok. I looked at myself and still thought I looked girly. To girly. We had been watching the news for a while now and mostly the sun thing has blown over. Occasionally we would get another interview but that was it. When the servants finally let me leave I went down stairs struggling with the heels I had on. I had the death grip on the railing as I walked down. When I got down I could see Zevin and a whole bunch of servants trying to change his hair which was just messing it up. I giggled and walked over to see what they where arguing about. "It needs to be perfect sir!" "It can be perfect the way it is," someone in the middle said. They all got louder at this and began to argue even more. "I think it looks perfect the way it is," I said over them all. They all turned to look at me and got on a knee and bowed. I laughed at this and said"Get up! No need to bow now!" Zevin laughed and got up and walked over to me. I looked at the servants and they where still on the ground. What is wrong with them? I told then they didn't have to bow! "Why are they still bowing," I asked looking confused. "It's nothing Maddie," he said looking at them to. I could hear him whispering for them to get up. They stayed and didn't move though so we continued on. We walked out to the doors but they flung open themselves. There was a carriage outside waiting for us and we got in and it rode off. "Where are we going," I ask for the millionth time. "I told you it's a secret," he laughed. "Pooh," I said and looked away. We rode for what seemed like forever when finally it stopped and let us out. "Thank you we will walk from here," Zevin said and held out his arm. I took it and we walked to a empty spot. I looked around and there was nothing around for miles. Then a train comes flying down and lands right in front of us. I laughed as we got on. It drove so fast you couldn't see anything out your window but flashes of color. When it landed and we got off we stepped onto something that felt like it was a trampoline. I looked down to see that it was just the ground and looked up to see a restaurant. The thing about it though was everything was floating and it was right in front of a waterfall. I smiled and when I walked I seemed to bounce. I looked down again and noticed a little pattern in the ground like trampolines would have. I realized the ground was made of trampolines. After we ordered our food and finished eating there was a show with acrobats. I watched in awe as they flipped and twisted ok the air and landed gracefully on the ground. They looked like monkeys! When the show was finished for a finally they jumped really high and got in a circle shape. To me it looked like a sun. They were frozen in mid-air! If this was some sick joke then I was about to hurt someone! I looked at Zevin and he turned to look at me. "What is wrong with those acrobats? Don't they know...," I started but couldn't finish. "They do know. They did this because I requested it," he said looking up them. "Why," I asked with tears forming in my eyes. "Because that was the best moment in my life," he muttered pulling something out of his pocket. "Zevin...," I said looking at what he got out. It was a box and it was square shaped. He opened it and inside was a necklace. It had a big crystal in the middle and little diamonds on the string. "Madelin, this is a special crystal that allows two people to talk from long distances. There is only two in the world which are the two that happens to have been in my family for eons," he said pulling it out. "It's beautiful," I whispered gazing at it. He walked over and undid the chain that held it together. I pulled my hair out of the way and he put it on. I smiled at him and mouthed thank you while I held it in my hand examining it. I looked back up to the acrobats and they were slowly coming down and when they did the whole place bust into cheers and clapping and everyone was up dancing or leaving. "You have to promise me one thing though," Zevin said looking at me. "Anything," I said. "You can never take that off. If you do something bad will happen. I promise not to take mine off either," he said and I noticed he had one exactly like it on. "Promise." "Ok good come on we better get going before the crazy people come out," he said. I laughed and nodded my head and followed him out. On our way back I noticed that we were not going the way we came. "Are you sure this driver knows what he is doing," I asked looking nervous most likely. "Yes I told him to make one more stop." I looked at him and started to say something but decided not to and looked away towards the scenery. We kept driving and the longer we drove the more I thought this place was familiar. I looked to see a house up ahead. I smiled. This was his mothers house. "Finally we are here," he complained. I laughed at him and looked towards the house. His mom was outside waiting and had jumped up at the sight of us. I wondered what was so exciting about coming here but I shrugged it off and looked away. All around us were trees as far as one could possibly see! I had no option but to look at either the house or Zevin. "Zevin! I thought you would never come! I was worried I wouldn't get to... Oh what is she doing here," she said noticing me. I giggled. "Hey Ms.Tays," I said smiling and waving at her. She mumbled something and yelled something that I couldn't here. When we stopped and got out she ran towards us hugging Zevin as tight as humanly possible. "My poor boy leaning tommorow to help our city," she cried into him. "Mother not now," he said irritatingly nodding his head towards me. "I see well how are you Maddie? That arm feeling alright?" "Good thank you for asking and yes it is feeling better thanks to you," I said smiling hoping she would take it as a complement. "It was nothing! Now let's get y'all in y'all must be starving!" "Mother we already ate," Zevin said following her in. I followed them trying to hear. "Where?" "The waterfall restraunt," he murmured looking at the ground. She gasped. "You mean THE waterfall restraunt?" "Yep that's the one," he whispered again not looking up. "Why," she asked so taken aback she fell on the couch. I ran over to help her and when she was balanced again he answered. He said"I have explained this before! I know the waterfall is a little weird but nothing happened this time it's ok!" I looked at them both. What do they mean? Has there been someone hurt there before or maybe just plain bad place to be. I didn't know and didn't care. When I woke up I could hear murmuring. I quickly closed back my eyes and listened. "Mom you have to help her! I refuse to leave her! I will not leave without telling her bye!" "You are going to have to she is probably dead by now!" "She is not dead I refuse to leave," he whispered and laid beside me wrapping his arms around me. I let him stay there for a while. He kissed my head several times. Finally after a while I said"You don't have to." He jumped up in excitement and started running around the room screaming"She's not dead!" I laughed as he ran around being an idiot. When he finally stopped he sat down panting. I laughed because he sounded like a dog. "I thought you wouldn't wake up," he whispered holding on to his necklace. "But I did," I whispered grabbing my necklace rubbing my thumb on it. All the sudden there was a big bang and a flash of light. The room was full of love music and flowers. There were balloons and streamers everywhere. I gaped at what happened. We were closer now and we weren't on the couch anymore. We were on a recliner and it had the foot thing out. I looked around and gasped. There was a disco ball on the ceiling with lights flashing everywhere. I looked at Zevin and he was smiling at the whole thing. "What happened," I asked him. "The necklaces is what happened," he said turning to look at me"They give what they think is needed." I wondered why we would need this stuff and I nodded my head after a while still not understanding. We were so close that I felt like I was suffocated. I didn't care though.
