Not so much a memory of celebration of the LNY but more of a story of the previous year during the year of the snake and what the year of the horse signifies for me personally. Last year, my troubles started after I had my cosmetic procedure called a Mommy Makeover. I don't regret having the procedure itself as it helped me alleviate A LOT of pain from excess skin I was carrying around from my weight loss surgery from 2019. The surgery though triggered delayed healing, perimenopause and my mental health to take a drastic nose dive. I started making mistakes I wouldn't make at work, I started to doubt my abilities of a law professional, mother and partner. By summer time, I was so depressed and my 18 year old daughter gets admitted as her own mental health taken a massive no dive. Coupled dealing with all this, my step-dad gets admitted and placed on a ventilator in the ICU due to his COPD. Now, I have to put all my personal issues aside to deal with my daughter in hospital and make tough decision as the attorney for my step-dad. Ultimately, test results show no improvements and I had to abide his wishes of his health care directive. I authorized the removal of his life support. Now, I turned from attorney to executor of his estate. By fall time, no family left where we were living, we packed up to move north closer to family. I gave up the position I worked hard to attain over the past 6.5 years. It was a position I took major pride in. Took me 2 months to find new employment and the creeping of self-doubt again in my abilities. The year of the snake meant being resilient during the transformation. It meant I was met with full of mystery and unknowns. Lastly, growth and adaptability as the year also aligned with the wood element. It also revealed what wasn't real and true in my life. It allowed me to have the emotional release that was building. Finally, it is the new year, the year of the horse. With this, it brings breakthroughs, renewed confidence, new opportunities for growth. With the fire element tied in, the year brings bold changes, swift decisions while exercising my freedom and independence. I can attest that this new year is already showing to be promising and bright.
