_____________________________ "I defy you!" That voice, it was familiar. It rang through the heavens, all the angels heard it. Emmanuel was younger then, well, in terms of existence he was younger. "So be it, I cast you out!" it's was that deep voice, the powerful one. The celestial one, it boomed at the angel who defied Him. The Angel smiled a wicked smile, one that sent chills down Emmanuel's spine. "Then I take my followers with me." With that, he fell from the Heavens, like a shooting star might fly across the night sky.Suddenly, The Heavens was moving, shifting, cracking, splitting itself into two. Heaven and Hell, as it is know known. Suddenly a change in scene, Heaven's Palace was in flames, it was brother against brother, sister against sister. Angel against Fallen Angel. Soon to become Angels against Demons, he was In full armor, to the hilt, sword and shield in his hands. He ran, trying to find him, the murderous traitor, the one they all thought could be trusted, but, was just as bad as his Master, some say worse. "ELIJAH!" Emmanuel's voice was thick with hatred and anger as he called out to his enemy. He ran to the palace court yard, it was exactly like the Garden of Eden. Although the Garden of Eden was simply a copy of the courtyard. There he stood, in black burnt out armor, His deep blue eyes stood out against his hair which was blacker than the night sky itself. He was leaning casually against the Tree of Knowledge, munching on an apple. "Well, someone is mad." He tossed the apple away theatrically before he picked up his weapons and sauntered his way towards Emmanuel. Expanding his black wings for effect. Emmanuel let his wings rip open, larger than Elijah's and white, not black. "You've slaughtered your own brothers!" His voice boomed, he was beyond angry. His emotions were inexplicable, yet, He felt an uneasy calm in the midst of his anger. His eyes were golden, no black at all, even the whites of his eyes were golden. He was in fighting mode, ready to kill anything that got in his way. "We all trusted you! I trusted you! Michaela trusted you!" He thought the name Michaela would spark some pathetic emotion, but, it only made him angry. "Don't speak her name!" Elijah shouted back. "She never loved me!" Emmanuel smiled, a smile that made even Elijah fearful. "Poor you, too bad I'm going to end your existence." He said nonchalantly. "Her lips were like, feathers. So soft, so delicate. Your right Elijah, she never loved you, it was always me. Always." He lied smoothly, praying it would provoke a reaction. It did. Elijah lunged at Emmanuel with all his might. Emmanuel dodged, and in no time they were fighting. The clanging and clashing of metal on metal, rang throughout the courtyard, reverberating throughout the palace. Slashes and slice, the ripping of skin, suddenly Emmanuel was holding a limp Elijah up in the air by the throat, his feet dangling in the air. "You were never as good as me Elijah, never." before he could throw him across the courtyard a knife sank into his chest. He dropped Elijah, and collapsed onto the floor, crying out in pain. "Your right." cackled Elijah. "I was never as good as you, I was better." Emmanuel watched in agony as Elijah walked away casually, he teleported onto the the highest point of the corner they were in, before calling out. "I could kill you know, but, your far too fun." An evil grin on his face, And with that he leapt gracefully off the palace and fell through the Heavens, bursting through the sky, like a shooting star, like a Fallen Angel. His eyes flew open, he clutched his chest. His muscles were tense, his breathing was rapid, he steadied himself before checking he was alright. No knife, no blood, no Elijah. A dream, it was just a dream. Emmanuel was safe, for now. ______________________________
______________________________ Elizabeth woke up with that usual feeling of having to go to school on a Monday morning, that feeling of dread, that feeling of "I can't be bothered". Although, when she thought about seeing Emmanuel later on in the day, her mood lightened up a bit. Still under sleeps grasp, she stumbled like a drunk to the shower. She let the water wash away her sleepy state. She got dressed in her usual everyday wear, which consisted of jeans, light tee shirts and fashionable leather boots. Making her way down to the kitchen, she found her mothers door wide open. Bed neatly made with a small note attached on the pillow. _____________________________ Hey honey, I'm working overtime, so, I won't be home till early tomorrow morning. Mom ______________________________ She was used to it, her Mom was often working overtime, trying to make up for lost shifts. Being a nurse really had it's downs sometimes. Elizabeth sighed before scrunching up the note and tossing it in the kitchen bin. She was anxious, so she couldn't eat, she knew exactly who was to blame for her anxiety. Scolding herself, she quickly grabbed an apple before making her way outside to see Amber waiting for her. She greeted Amber when she got in. "Hey." She said tentatively "Sorry about last time, he offered and it would have been rude if I turned him down." "Don't sweat it, besides, you two look like you get on well." Amber smirked. Elizabeth said nothing at this, she was to busy trying to beat away the butterflies in her stomach. The drive to school was a quite one, Elizabeth didn't feel like talking, and, Amber could see that so she kept quite too. Elizabeth had English first, so, she expected to see Emmanuel there, but, he wasn't. Nor was he in French, or any of her other classes in fact. Come lunch time she didn't expect him to turn up at all, yet, still she looked around, waiting for him to pop out of nowhere. She was annoyed, and a little hurt, then again maybe he had an accident of some sort, or had fallen sick. Her last class for the day was Chemistry, Emmanuel would have been her partner, but, since he wasn't there she had to go by her self. Or so she thought. "Excuse me." Said a girl with light brown hair and blonde highlights. "But, since both our partners aren't here today, I was wondering if we could team up together?" "Ah, yeah sure." she replied, trying to be polite. "Thanks." She beamed. "My name's Brayleigh, Brayleigh Bates." "Elizabeth Rosewater." she replied. Brayleigh had piercing blueish green eyes, and freckles sprinkled lightly on her face. She was tall and slim, her tan made her look like she belonged in LA, not New York. They began working on their experiment, they where testing Alkanes and Alkenes, boring as usual. Elizabeth couldn't help but think of Emmanuel, he was a strange boy. She wondered if he was always like this, skipping classes and all. She found herself beating away the butterflies again, if only he didn't have this effect on her, then again, she did like him, but to what extent? "Hello, Elizabeth?" Brayleigh asked, trying to get her attention. "Huh, what?" She asked, snapping out of her train of thought. "I said, I'm going to Emmanuel's house to drop off my notes for Dylan to look at. Wanna come?" She said. "Why would I come?" she replied trying to sound nonchalant, instead of snappy. "It's obvious your thinking about him." she retorted. "Thinking about who?" She said, trying to sound Blaise. The only reply she got in return was two raised eyebrows. "Okay, fine." Elizabeth said, giving up. "Coolio." judging by the tone, Elizabeth knew it wasn't all about work, maybe Brayleigh fancied Dylan, who knows. She didn't want to intrude on Emmanuel, but, he had some explaining to do. ______________________________ This was it, no time for failure. A moment that could possibly change the course of history. Emmanuel and Dylan were shirtless, sweating, this was intense. No doubt, this was how they solved issues, yet, none had been this extreme. No matter of fighting could compare to this, this meant victory or defeat, for possibly the two most important sides they'd ever known. Their heart were racing, their palms sweaty, faces stricken with seriousness. This, was Fifa 12. Real Madrid vs Barcelona, They'd gone through full time, extra time and three sets of penalty shoot outs and still no one had won. The penalty shoot out read: Barcelona: 19 with one miss, Real Madrid: 19 with zero misses. It was Ronaldo stepping up to the mark, Valdes, ready to save. With a swift flick of the buttons, Dylan sends the ball soaring towards the top right corner of the net. Emmanuel, just a fraction of a second slower, sends Valdes flying to stop the ball, but, he is too late, the ball meets the back of the net with a swish, Real Madrid won, Dylan had proved he was right, Zebras were white with black strips. "YES! SUCK IT! I WAS RIGHT!" Yelled an overjoyed Dylan. "Yeah, yeah whatever." said Emmanuel, shaking his head at Dylan's childish behavior. The doorbell rang, both boys stopped, dead still. Emmanuel donned his tee shirt and made his way to the front door. Surely Elijah wouldn't just knock on the front door and be like: "Hey Bro, long time no see. I'm gonna kill you now." He stopped at the door and took a few deep breaths, preparing himself for anything. He opened the door to find two girls standing outside, one a girl with light brown hair and blonde highlights, the other a very worried, yet, somewhat angry Elizabeth. ______________________________
______________________________ Elizabeth rang the door bell, waiting for a minute or two, eventually, the door opened to reveal Emmanuel staring at both girls with a weird expression on his face, before it vanished, as quickly as it had appeared. "Uh, hi?" He said, a smirk playing on his lips. He was wearing broad shorts and a thin white tee shirt, she could see his muscles quite visibly, she could feel herself blush, so, she averted her eyes to see that he was wearing flip flops. "What? Their comfortable." He stated. She looked back up and glared at him. "You weren't at school." Her tone was very matter of factly. He said nothing. "You told me you'd be at school on Monday, today is Monday and you weren't there." Still, no reply, just a faint smile. "Did I do something? Is this still about the other day?" Ignoring her, he turned to braleigh and addressed her. "I guess, you're here for Dylan?" he asked politely. "Uh, yeah." She replied. "Go right on through, up the right hand stairs, third door on the left." He said, opening the door wider and allowing her to pass, before turning back to Elizabeth and saying. "No, you didn't do anything. No, this isn't about what happened two weeks ago, and I apologize for not attending school today, I was, unwell." He said politely. She said nothing at this. Unable to say anything, she bit her lips and gave him a worried expression."Come on in." He turned around and walked into the house, not checking to see if she followed. "Oh, and how do you know where I live?" He asked, a smirk evidently toying with her. Finally, she found the ability to answer him. "Administrator Office." she replied softly while following him into the lounge area. "Ah, Stalker Central 101." He joked. "Where are your parents?" She asked abruptly. "Out of town." His tone subtlety indicated that she shouldn't press for anymore detail. He led her to the lounge before going into the kitchen and returning with a glass of coke and some sandwiches. "I figured, since you're my guest and all, you deserve to put up with Michaela's horrible sandwiches." He said, his voice was strained, as if was putting on this casual joking demeanor. Something was bothering him, she could tell. He sat down next to her and shifted his body so he was looking directly at her, his expression was curious. "Why do you care so much?" He asked intently, his voice was soft, like velvet. She was munching away on a sandwich so she finished chewing before replying to him. "About what? You?" She said, trying to keep her voice even. He nodded in return, his gaze studying her, trying to read her. She stared back waiting for a reply. He eventually nodded in return, his black and gold eyes made her uneasy, as if she was an open book. "I don't know, your like a God, perfect, too perfect." She didn't realize she had voiced that opinion till she heard Emmanuel laugh, it was agonizingly beautiful. "Trust me, I'm no God." He said, smiling at her. The smile reminded her of the dream she had. "I've dreamt about you before." She blurted out. Wide eyed she waited for his response. His expression flickered into something of fear, before quickly changing again in the blink of an eye, she thought she had imagined it. His voice was still casual and friendly, yet, she could tell he was holding something back. "Was this before or after you meet my lovely self." He asked, his eyes suddenly looking deep into her own. They were more golden than before, a soft gold too. She couldn't help but stare right back, leaning in with out even realizing it. Catching herself, she answered softly. "Before." Her voice was a whisper, barely audible. She let her eyes scan his entire frame, taking him in. "What's your favorite color?" He asked out of the blue. "Sky blue." She replied, almost instantaneously. "What do you prefer, cats or dogs?" "Both. Wait, why the questions?" she asked curiously. "Curiosity, that's all." He said with a smile. It was as if that smile triggered it off, from that moment on they talked non stop. Asking each other all sorts of questions, from, favorite actors to best holidays. Elizabeth was enjoying the sandwiches and kept asking for more, she felt rude, but, Emmanuel didn't mind. He gave her more, sometimes he nibbled on a sandwich or two. At some time, she didn't know when, a slightly disappointed Brayleigh came down, saying that she had to leave cause her parents were waiting for her at home. Elizabeth didn't want to go, and thankfully Emmanuel offered to take Elizabeth home, so, Brayleigh could go ahead, Elizabeth was thankful for the kind gesture. Dylan went into town to go and meet up with Michaela and Alida, who were apparently on a big shopping spree, although secretly she thought it was so he could get out of their hair. Emmanuel offered to take Elizabeth on a tour around the house, she gladly accepted. Although she didn't notice the time until she looked out side, it was dark and it must've been late at night. "Oh my gosh it's ten fifty eight!" she said, completely at a lose as to where the time went. She was so caught up with Emmanuel, that she forgot about everything else. "Do you want me to take you home?" Emmanuel asked politely. Surprisingly enough, Elizabeth shook her head. "If it's alright with you, I'd like to stay and have the tour." He smiled. "Sure, I'd love to give you a tour." His voice made her tremble slightly. The mansion was just like an average house, it had all the basic rooms that were needed, plus another ten or so rooms for guests, game rooms, and four bathrooms and a massive library. All elaborately designed of course. Finally they came to the last room, Emmanuel's. The room was spacious and was equipped with what a boy would need. Bed, desk, T.V. And sound system, king size bed and a few CDs lying around the place, all classical music. Everything was neat and tidy, but, not military. She sprawled on the bed without even thinking about it. "Nice room, spacious." "Thanks." he replied. "Well, come sit down. I won't bite." She said while sitting up. Her sudden playfulness stunned her, but, she shoved it away, trying to control herself. He joined her and she realized that they were very close, only a few inches apart. She asked him more questions and he gladly answered, before she knew it, it was early hours in the morning. Her eyes started fluttering like crazy, unable to resist it anymore she lay down on the bed, her head on the pillows. Elizabeth felt a blanket being pulled over her and she could hear faint footsteps, then the soft delicate sound of the piano being played somewhere in the house, probably the library, That's where the Piano was, In the library. She let the music lull her into a deep and peaceful sleep. That night she dreamt a strange dream of Emmanuel, he was dressed in armor and had wings, like an Angel ready for war. The strange thing is, that look fitted him, as if he really was an Angel, sent to her. A gift, given to her. Directly from the heavens. ______________________________
