  1. Though I had lived with these people, nobody could've prepared me for this. In the changing rooms, Charlie, arms wrapped around Adele, pressed against her. I blinked, realizing, it didn't hurt. I felt no sense of betrayal. I didn't feel sadness or anger. I stopped watching. I walked out quietly and headed to the showers. 20 minutes later, I was clean and out of there. I had a feeling, strong in my stomach. I couldn't stay. I had never felt at ease. No color. No life. I had nothing to live for. But Freedom. The chance of being freed was entirely worth death. Knowing I couldn't do it alone, I had to keep my friends close. Soon Adele and Charlie were more open about their new relationship. I supported them openly. I had no reserves about it. What concerned me was getting out of this fucking hell hole. One night, of many nights to come, I took the ring off. Now, this was at 2 A.M in my room. It was small, but comfortable. Thank god, we were allowed to put color in these places. The rooms were separated, allowing teenagers to be alone. I thought it's now or nothing I slid my ring off. Slowly I turned into a miniature Godzilla, except I wasn't rampaging as I was told I'd do if I ever took off my ring. My clothing expanded and contracted, still perfect to my shape. I looked in my mirror. I was thicker, scales covering my arms. My arms were huge, all muscle. My sense of smell was positively incredible. I blinked, seeing through a snakes eyes. I shivered. I was hideous. It's not like I was a goddess, but I'd turn heads now and then. Quickly I put the ring back on. In the instant it happened, I was human. I sighed with relief. Then, fell onto my gold and blue bed, fast asleep.

  6. As my great grandfather Richard A. Crassweller once said.

Freedom is one of the few free things in this world. And even that's debatable.

  7. I woke to another day, I stared at myself in the mirror. Alone. Loneliness was my greatest companion. It followed me, a dark shadow looming, both in my eyes and my personality. I still remember that bitter night. First escape attempt. Those clear blue eyes, they still haunted me. It was a human. A werewolf. Those eyes...I needed to find who he was. Ever since yesterday, it bothered me. I looked for clear, sky blue eyes everywhere. But none were found. Suddenly, the door opened in the social room. I had been sitting on the floor with Michelle's head on my lap. A frazzled looking woman strolled in. Behind her came a young man. Around 15. My age. Brown hair. Clear, sky blue eyes. My breath caught in my throat. The same eyes. He hung his head down. His feet plodding heavily. She looked back at him. "Come on son." she said encouragingly. He growled, dog-like. She rolled her eyes. I rolled the ring off my finger a little bit. My eyes were snake-like once more. I saw her name tag. Jodie A. Crassweller. I sighed and slid my ring back on. A scientist. She'd given her son to this this. Her flesh and blood. Doomed to a world of estrangement. She walked out and touched his cheek. She mouthed, "it's for your own good." and walked out. I was first to approach him. "The eyes..." he whispered.

  10. It was just him and me. We stared at each other. No words being said. I leaned in close, my lips ever so close to his neck and whispered "in the changing room, come alone. We need to talk." he nodded. I stood straight. Suddenly, we were both aware of the crowd. Michelle and Adele were staring at me. "What was that?" Adele said with a smirk. I was bright red. "N-N-Nothing." I sputtered. "It seems as if you know him." Michelle smiled mischievously. "Uhh..." I walked away rapidly. I watched them crowd him. He responded, his back straight, eyes proud, regaining his composure. I smiled a little. He obviously was not a modest person. Quickly, he found himself at the center of attention. Over developed Sophie and two girls named Angel and Nikki were at the head of the crowd. I chuckled to myself. Michelle and Adele made their way to me. "Look at that,he can't take his eyes off you." Adele giggled. It was true. His eyes followed me. Michelle nudged me. "So, you interested in him?"
"Maybe, maybe not." I answered vaguely.
