Ok, two bits of info. Sheffield are a non league club, the oldest club in the world. Sheffield has two pro teams, Wednesday and United. I assume you are talking about Wednesday, not Sheffield FC. And since it's a touchy subject, Liverpool played Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough, not Wednesday. Liverpool don't travel here on masse any more for obvious reasons. The people of Sheffield took Liverpool fans into their homes that day and did everything they could to help. Do some research before typing VIP. Tool.
Wrong! One I was talking about Wednesday! Tool Two, Wednesday played Liverpool, do your god damn research boy! _VIP_
And that obvious reason is because of the Sheffield Wednesday fans crushing the Liverpool fans. That's why loads of people hate the Wednesdays.
Hillsborough was regularly used as a venue for cup semi finals and replays as it's a big stadium and central to England. Hillsborough is where Sheffield Wednesday play but on that day Liverpool played Nottingham Forest.
While I was living in Oregon, I played for Another city's soccer league. I was invited to the team after playing indoor against them with my team, along with my cousin. They had been champions the year before that. They team didn't like us much and during practice (scrimmage) they'd hardly even notice us. But when we'd steal the ball we would dominate their asses with Triangle (wall) passing and not passing it to them. Made the angrier. Our first and only game before I quit the team, I got in on the second half as a sub. There were some of my high school's varsity players on the other team that I'd talked to a bit. We won 6-1 and I scored 2 goals. My favorite goal was when opp was near our goal, my team stole it, and then they passed it to me (I was in half court playing as striker) so I got it and there were three defenders behind me, when they passed me the ball I flicked it up with my left foot and then rainbow backheeled it past the first defender that was covering me. The next one I beat with speed after faking right, and when I was coming up to the third one some players were like "SHOOT IT" and I remember I yelled something like "fuck you" or "shut the fuck up" or something like that. It was funny. anywhoo. so on the third defender I faked a shot, he jumped and turned his back on me, so I took left and kicked it around him and hit the top left 45° angle and I just heard the "whoosh" of the net. It was awesome cuz everyone was clapping for me. My parents were on the sideline and they were yelling and my team was all patting my back and I was doing the Ronaldinho hand gesture. It was awesome. My back then girlfriend was there for half the match but left a few minutes before I scored my favorite goal. Lol. She never got to see my glory. Except this one time in Mexico I was playing with a group of like, 16-17 year olds (I was 19) and one older dude. I dominated them too and got like 20 pannas. She was proud of me. Ahhhhh....
Cheers pal, good to hear a story about footy from the US. No better feeling than scoring. I don't do that so often haha
Couple of little stories: Went to watch Wednesday away at QPR, we were winning 2-0 and somehow managed to lose 3-2. When QPR scored their third goal there was a rangers fan, completely naked behind their goal. Pretty sure if you want to see a fat bloke naked at a football match it's on the internet as it was in our local paper. Went to watch Wednesday vs Sheff U at Bramall Lane, massive derby game, where the police thought it would be a good idea to put Wednesday fans in the tier below the home fans. I basically spent a whole match trying to avoid getting covered in spit, pi$$ and coins. We lost there as well but at least I walked out with £3.50.
