Adenae went through the day thinking about one thing and one things only. The rose. She had done what she thought would be for the best. She didn't know how Charlie would react but she was prepared for anything. As for James, he had made it clear he got the message. He sat in the back with Zachary, never looking at her or even allowing his body to face in her direction. He didn't look mad, just a little upset, though the constant cold shoulder still hurt her. She tried not to be emotional about the whole situation. It was just a breakup. One small breakup. Kelly watched as the now grim James sat solemnly in the back of the room. He and Adenae had been so good together. They had seemed happy but perhaps through the smiles and laughs there was something in the back of the relationship that the two didn't bring out in public. This got her to thinking about her own relationship or lack of. She and Joe had argued like a married couple and now he was with the art prodigy. She wasn't jealous but she wasn't exactly happy that Joe would take advantage of a girl that so obviously cared about him. She looked at the couple now. Jodie had her hand on his shoulder, her smile genuinely happy. Joe seemed distracted however by the large set of breasts residing on the substitutes chest. She couldn't help but laugh at the thought, which in turn got Drakes attention. Drake, loyal, honest, and sweet. He was the perfect gentlemen, the perfect guy but she couldn't bring herself to let him know she did love him as much as he loved her. She wasn't a oblivious to the fact as everyone thought. She knew, she always knew but she just didn't know how to approach the situation. He smiled at her with that same sweet smile. She wanted to kiss him but she couldn't. As the day flew by, Kelly could feel the knotting in her stomach grow tighter. Her hands shook, her knees felt like jello and Drake stood just 20 yards away. She allowed two days to past before she decided to go through with her plan. Today was the day, it was her moment, her time, it had to be perfect. 15 yards, 10, 5, he was there, looking at her with that same smile. She could feel her heart race, her hands were sweating profusely, and she thought she might be sick, but there he was. It was perfect, he was perfect, and the kiss was everything she had expected. He kissed her back so passionately. She could feel the eyes on them but she didn't care. She was used to people watching her, maybe not in these situations but at that moment it was just her and Drake. He was that one thing in her life that she had been missing. He was always there but not in a way she wanted.
The rose was taped to the door of Adenae's locker. Charlie had never been so excited before. Of course talking to Kelly was a problem but she eventually grew so mad she stomped away, her anger and jealousy pouring out of her pretty little figure. She had wanted to stay together but Charlie was set on being with Adenae no matter what. Charlie focused on the goal ahead. He had to do something that would be so unforgettable, Adenae would know he truly loved her. He had never been the sappy romantic type but every guy had to do it at some point in their life, and now it was his turn.
I check for a new part of the story a lot and when I see there is something new, I get excited but then I look and it's another comment
The streets were bustling with the many bodies of shoppers and tourists. As warm weather hit the town, so did tourists coming in for spring break. College students flocked to the beaches and local hotels. The boardwalk was busy, girls in bikinis and shirtless college boys became a normality in the town once again. Adenae had grown accustomed to dodging people here and there and trying to stay out of the way. It was beautiful out now, but it had been a week since she taped that rose to her locker. She was trying to figure out if what she had done was the wrong thing to do, as she quickened her pace. She now ran trying to get beach ready. It hadn't occurred to her that she was running straight into a large group of guys until she actually ran into one of them. He was a tall guy, muscular, tanned, with just the perfect mix of hot and cute. "I'm so sorry. I wasn't paying attention." He was smiling down at her, his teeth were perfect. "it's alright babe. Maybe it was fate that a beautiful girl such as yourself run into a guy like me." "And exactly what kind of guy are you?" He seemed to have an air of arrogance on him. He smiled at her, almost mischievously. She had in mind what he was thinking as he looked her up and down. "I'm just a good ole country boy visiting this beautiful town looking for some fun. Hell it's spring break baby. Maybe you and I could get together some time. Maybe you can show me around that magnificent body of yours. " He winked at her, his confidence going through the roof. She got the worse taste in her mouth, feeling embarrassed she had thought he was remotely hot. "Whatever your thinking, get it out of your disgusting pig headed brain. I'm not that kind of girl, and even if I was, what makes you think you would ever have a chance with me? I have standards, and fat headed oafs is not on the list." She almost ran away but was artful in her dramatic exit.
