Adenae was speechless. She could only look at him but she didn't know what to say. Everything he said was so real and so honest. She hadn't known he really felt like this but then again, she didn't know he was capable of feeling like this. Her silence must have done something to him however. He had quickly grabbed his coat and shoes and was out the door but before she could even say anything he was gone. She quickly jumped out of bed and stumbled down the stairs trying to catch up to him but he had left no trace of him ever being there. She kept asking herself if it was just a dream but she knew it was the closest thing to reality. Thoughts raced through her mind and landed on James. He was hers and she was his but for how much longer? Things were good but they weren't perfect. The relationship had flaws, he was clingy but he was sincere and nice. She could tell him everything. But Charlie, she had known him for years and he knew her better than anyone else. They were best friends but, what if being together meant things would never be the same. Would they have an awkward relationship like she and James did? She hadn't noticed herself pick up her phone and dial James's number until she heard the ringing. She hadn't known what she was gonna say either until she heard herself say it. "James, I can't do this anymore. Not with you. I can see us as friends but nothing more. You know as well as I do that things aren't working between us."

"Umm this is James's sister. Would you like me to relay that message to him?". Adenae was both shocked and embarrassed. She quickly said a "yes please and thank you" before hanging up. She made her way back to her room and looked around. James had left his jacket. She would have to remember to give it back. She picked it up and couldn't help but smell it. The smell had become so familiar. Charlie sat on one of the stone benches waiting patiently for Adenae. She wasn't expecting him but he was there. As she entered through the archway he quickly stood, a rose in one hand and a note in the other. Before she could say anything, he handed both over and walked away, or rather sprinted. Adenae looked at the note. He had used notebook paper. She could tell by his hand writing he had been careful with his words and had put a lot of thought into it. It read : Adenae, I'm sorry about everything but I meant all that I said. You are so wonderful and perfect. Perfect for me at least. If you wanna just be friends though, dump this rose and I'll get the hint. but if you want to give us a chance, tape this rose on the outside of your locker.
