Chapter 2 The gavel falls on innocence I was taken by the officer back to the station. Then I found out I would be on trial in a few days. I got a very sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. I mean the evidence pointed at me. I fought with my boss, they wound up dead, I trip over their body so I get covered in their blood. It is horrible. A few days pass and I'm in a car headed to court. I imagine what I feel the only real possible outcome could be is the judge declaring me innocent. But after all evidence and questioning was finished the jury went to confer and I felt confident I wouldn't be charged. Then they came back and said your honor we the people of the jury find the defendant to be guilty of murder in the first degree. I couldn't believe it. The judge turned and looked and said Josh Matthews I sentence you to 40 years in jail with no parole for ten years. I was going to prison for a crime I didn't commit!
Chapter3 The night of murder cop I was sitting at the front desk the phone rang. I answered it I was told that someone was being murdered in the alley on fourth street. I said thank you for reporting it. I got my gun some cuffs my badge and got in a car. I drove for a half hour. When I got there they were still in the alley but one was dead with a knife in the chest. The perp my younger brother Josh I couldn't believe it but I had a job to do. I flicked the car lights on and got out yelled freeze. The victim was his boss or rather former boss now. I had trouble believing he did it but his bloody hand print was on the knife. And he was covered in blood. Evidence I couldn't ignore so I arrested my brother.
Chapter4 Didn't do the crime can't do the time I couldn't believe it I had been sentenced to forty years in prison. The worst part was that it was my older brother Ben who had arrested me. I couldn't believe it how could he have thought I would kill someone. I was driven to the prison by my brother. We didn't talk I regret it now because I learned he had cancer and died not long after. I wish I had told him that I hadn't killed them that my ex-bosses twisted and tormented face hadn't been my doing but I didn't. He tried to talk to me. He asked things like "so how's your wife Josh?" and "how could you do that, Josh why did you do it?" and I ignored him and I never got to say I was glad he was my brother. I swear I will get free. I didn't do the crime and I'm not gonna do the time.
