  1. Some couples end in good terms and keep a sort of friendship. I think it's possible depending when and how you break up and probably giving a time to overcome the break-up before talking again. Or when both parts have new partners.

Right... but that isn’t the context I think the OP means... and I am aware that relationships can end on good terms and then invitations would be extended based on the resulting relationship after the romance has ended. This is kind of a given. My reply was specifically targeted towards the petty, -rub it in- more bitter than sweet act of extending an invitation to an estranged lover you were not on good terms with like the OP was suggesting...? Again, this is something I have only recently heard of as a form of revenge.
