Death Penalty

  1. I'd agree with the death penalty but i cant. I'll probably end up getting married with a crazy ass wife that always complains, which will tick me off and one day i'll snap and kill her. Thats the reason i cant agree.

I don't want to be killed lol

  2. I was for Capitol punishment until I did a paper in high school and learned of the staggering number of ppl that were executed then proven innocent after the fact due to new technology in crime solving.

If your father, brother, or uncle was executed then you found out they were innocent, how would you feel? Is it worth the chance of killing an innocent person? Once a life is taken, u can never get that life back.

Agree or disagree, I'm just expressing another point of view :)

  3. Good point ^

However, I do agree with the concept in general. That if you kill a person you should be killed. An eye for an eye. Whether they should use the death penalty though is a whole Nother argument, pretty much because like you said, innocent people are executed. You can always go back and find out you ruled the case wrong, but you can't go back and fix the execution... That's done. You can't undo it.

  4. SmDelight why Father, Brother or Uncle?

Why not Mother, Sister or Aunty? 

  5. kill em. all the heavy time crimminals are repeat offenders who are homless and just go to jail for home. while the real crimminals get light sentances cause of little room. just use the shocky chair on them

  6. Because Leon, according to research done by Liz Olsen, only 2% of death penalty sentences are handed to women :)

In that 2%, it is quite possible there might be an innocent woman so I stand corrected

*Father, brother, uncle, mother, sister, or aunt

  7. ...I dislike this thread only because my dad is in jail for false accusings. Just think, what about people who get framed? My dad was set up to appear as a murderer and a thief. You might say "How do u know he didn't lie to you about being framed", well I know my dad, he's a great person. Just thought I'd throw it out there :/

  8. I'm with Delight on this, she understands.

  9. Exact same thing with me terry. But it's my uncle. And it wasn't murder, it was "rape"... The jury just asumed stuff because the kids said they had evidence, and they didn't... :|

  10. Agreed with op

  12. but these people r in the end someone elses loved one. how would u feel if ur brother or husband turned into a criminal or accused of being one n facing death penalty? would u say yea i love him but he deserves to die

  13. but anyways u cant really do anything about the death penalty talking about it on here. wish the world can change with just few clicks...

  14. The issue I have with the death penalty is in a lot of cases how can you be 100% sure they did the crime I'm certain innocent ppl get executed

  15. yep cuz the real world isnt like csi and other shows....

  16. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth...

    ...makes the whole world blind

  17. I dunno.... Hard topic! But as much as you want to kill a killer yourself, if you found out they murdered a family member of yours... And Say they should have a death penalty is basiclly saying "kill me kill me" your doing the same crime as them. So it's a hard choice but yeah prob just let them suffer in jail. Maybe they should be slightly tortured? Hard labour for the rest of their lives sounds more realisticly fair.

  18. The thing that makes us any better than them is that we don't stoop to their level. Why would you want to change the one thing that makes us different? 

  19. The max penalty at the moment is life sentences. This is only 30 years and its not even the whole life. I believe the death penalty should be a life sentence and the 30 years should be a different sentence

  20. Who are we to decide who lives and dies? The way of making someone pay for their crime is to commit another one ourselves? A life is a life, no matter how bad that person is. How many people was executed and after proven they were innocent? And how many died by the hands of the ones doing 'justice', even if they committed a crime? Who are we to decide the other person deserves to die? Who never did anything wrong in their life, please step forward...

It is true that we pay enormous taxes to 'feed prisoners and their beds', like I read before. But don't we pay taxes for other things too? Don't we pay taxes to help institutions to help the needed ones? Everything in this world needs a balance... We could come up with ideas, constructive ones, and find ways of make this more fair to everyone. I'm not saying that we should let a criminal free. They must pay for their crime. They should stay in jail for the amount of time the law says so and they should work in order to live: they do their laundry, they clean the place, they cook their food and they should do community work as well. It's just an idea...

The bigger the crime, the longer they stay.

Saying that our prisons are full of people so let's kill them like they mean nothing is 1945 all over again. The Holocaust idea was pretty much that: 'they are too many, lets just kill them!'

No one is better than anyone. We are dust, and unto dust we shall return.
