Death is Justice?

  1. An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.
I'm not against it nor am I for it. Sometimes the best punishment is lifetime in jail of guilt, but depending on their severity of crime(s)
We are quick to judge and condemn a man/woman of a crime without finding out the whole truth as to why they did it.
Other instances, yes, they do deserve the judgement and condemnation.
Not everyone is evil, we were born with good and innocence in our hearts it's the influences of the world and people around us sometimes that taints us. You can never change a person, it's up to us to change ourselves, but sometimes you just can't change the true nature of a killer.

  2. Yea just kill him

  3. This has always interested me for the mad/bad aspect of things. Someone mentally ill who had killed someone wasn't in control of their actions so should they be held accountable, someone who wasn't mentally ill but did it then the psychologist in me wants to learn more about their mind and why they did it. The human side of me says that anyone who touched my family or friends then yeah, I'd happily fire the shot. And miss the main target a few times so they'd bloody well suffer.

Of course you could argue that by living in prison forever then they get to suffer the rest of their lives as most prisoners will hate them and they'll get regular thumpings. Ian Huntley (who killed two 10 year old girls) has been beaten badly a few times now and is always looking for the next one. Once they're dead they're out of it.

  4. If I'm not wrong, Canada's 'life sentence' in prison is 25years.

  5. In England I believe it's the same but for someone held in a mental hospital rather than a prison they're at Her Majesty's Pleasure rather than a set sentence which means as long as she wants. I think. Ian Brady the moors murderer will never get out again. He's in Broadmoor which is a mental institution.

  6. Meanwhile the criminals get life in prison and still harm the taxpayers. Oh and for some murders, what is life in prison going to do? If it were legitimate murder, that person sure as hell isn't going to wake up every morning and feel bad for those dead people. Maybe the fact s/he was caught, but not the actual murders.

That being said I don't have a stance either way, but those were a few things that popped into my head reading the comments.

  7. and for those who didn't know, imprisonement is less expensive that a death sentence. The whole process of a death sentence is more expensive than taking care of the prisonner.
So technically, the financial issue is a very bad argument for this case.

  8. Death penalty= yes

  9. Let me restate something, again. Some people live better in prison then in in society. Someone I know said that In prison, you can go to college for free, you can watch tv, sneak in cellphones, go to the library, work out, eat, sleep, he said people who get out, usually eventually come back. They don't pay for bills, clothing or food. "prison is like high school all over again. There are cliques and you try to avoid the bad ones."
So please tell me how they are "rotting", unless they are in one cell by themselves I doubt they are rotting. (Which you have to do something messed up at the prison to get into solitary confinement)

  10. Hypothetically speaking, lets say someone murders a family, went to the neighbors house, and murders that family.

Lets give him a reason since you're all so stuck on "maybe they had a reason", so this fake murderer was angry because they had bigger houses.

    it's okay, right?

let's take him to prison where he can stay they're for the rest of his life and have his big house, where he pays no expenses, is able to sleep, eat, go to college, and do everything for free.

  11. Okay, now as an individual I do not support the death penalty. As I believe innocent people can get proven guilty as there has been numerous cases and sentenced to death for a crime they didn't commit. As it's also against my personal beliefs to take another's life I also do not support it. I don't believe in an eye for an eye. It does nothing besides give me a justifiable reason to be angry but justifiable anger can kill you just as quick as unjustifiable.

I have had hideous acts occur to me, no they were not murder but yet it was murder in a way. But for the crimes committed against me I wouldn't want them to suffer what I have nor have them sentenced to death. I would rather them sit and live with what they did for the rest of their lives. Now I doubt they're sitting there really thinking about what they did because they're callous worthless human beings but I like to entertain the fantasy that they regret what they did.

As a psychology student and as a person who is profoundly fascinated by the brain mechanisms of serial killers I can profoundly say they suffer no remorse. Locking them up does nothing besides allow them to enjoy TV and pleasantries of our civilization. As one of the symptoms of a anti social personality disorder is a lack of remorse a true sociopath feels absolutely nothing for the crimes they've committed and as such does not sit there mourning what they've done. In fact they're allowed to write books and glorify their killings. They truly feel nothing about what they've done. Why would you allow someone like that to still live? Although them speaking to psychiatrists and writing about their crimes helps us to better understand them, they are seriously scum. People like that just don't have a shred of humanity in them. Did you know humans are the only animals that can experience empathy? Empathy is a very human experience. Sociopaths lack empathy. Which means they lack the very essence of being human. They have a callous indifference to life in general even their own.

As far as homicides that are committed by the severely mentally ill and those who aren't capable of understanding right and wrong I hesitate to say that they should be sentenced to death. If you can't understand the nature of your crimes should you be killed? Although there was a case of a I think it to be an 8 year old girl who killed a 4 year old boy and they let her off giving her just juvenile detention or something like that and she ended up killing again. Which would be someone who's a true sociopath. But there's been heinous crimes committed by paranoid schizophrenics and why would you send someone who truly doesn't understand what they were doing and did it to protect themselves(no matter how delusional their protecting of themselves was) to death? They should be committed and get treatment. Unfortunately in the United States we don't care about our mentally ill. We allow them to run the streets homeless and without proper watch because well, hospitals are big business. Most of our mental hospitals anymore are short stay which means they put you on a medication treatment and send you away. Without regard to you or the severity of your mental illness. And that is a flaw of the United States of America. That is not a flaw of the people. To be like I'm going to kill this person since they killed someone because they were neglected by the system and not properly watched or monitored is ridiculous. In my own personal opinion those cases should not be sentenced to death they should get the treatment they deserve and is our human right as people with empathy to give to these individuals that are sick.

People do vicious extreme things when emotionally aroused. A wife comes home and sees her man in bed with another woman shoots both of them. Yes she probably feels remorse for what she's done as she did it out of passion. And I truly don't believe she should be sentenced to death.

A premeditated crime differs from a crime of impulse. And that doesn't mean impulse crimes should all get off. Lots of serial killers are known to commit impulse crimes but they're due to their love of killing and finding a victim they just had to have in that second.

I also though believe that sexual predators of the pedophile and mass rape spectrum should get life in prison. Most times they get less time then someone who's found with a kilo of cocaine. Which is ridiculous due to the fact that they in fact did steal a life from someone. While they may have not murdered that person physically they murdered that person mentally and spiritually.

The system fails constant. The system is corrupt. That's all.

  12. suprised this hasnt been locked yet lol

  13. The reason why its so expensive is because of man. It could be alot cheaper with a gun and a bullet. Fuck all that wasting electric or getting companys to make a drug shoot the fuckers.

    I am for death sentencing!

  14. Cherry, I understand what your saying but you contradicted yourself a few times.
You originally said your against it, but then under certain circumstances your for it? (maybe I read it wrong that was a long post ? if I read it wrong then disregard this post)
Your either for it or against it there is no "in between" because if you believe under certain circumstances it's okay, then technically you are for death penalty. Because death penalty isn't given to everyone. Your not gonna get put on death row for stealing candy at a store. You get it for doing outrageously inhumane things. I also understand sometimes innocent people are given it, but in my opinion, if you did get put to death and were found innocent after at least your in heaven.

  15. Mmmmm, no I didn't contract myself. I can understand why certain people are put to death. Meaning I can mentally comprehend why our government participates in that act. But me personally I do not agree with it at all.  make sense? I probably wrote it wrong as I obviously had a lot on my mind.

Thank you for allowing me the chance to clarify and asking instead of assuming or accusing 

  16. As a Buddhist I don't believe in heaven but that's another debate entirely.  also why I do not personally believe in eye for an eye and also why I cannot stomach the killing of people in general. Call me an optimist or an idealist but it is what it is.

  17. I personally don't agree with it, as I don't agree with 'an eye for an eye' because there'd just be an endless chain of repercussions if that statement actually came true, it'd just be never ending. I also think that under no circumstances does someone deserve to be put to death for what they did, despite whatever their past is. I understand why people do support it, but personally I don't.

But anyone that knows me knows I'm very opinionated on matters like this so I'll just leave it at that ?
