Please stay on topic? And I do not see how that can offend anyone unless they are one of those " it is a conspiracy " people.
I don't care if I offend somebody, because it is inevitable, but if I am pouring my heart out on a public space, and I am actually writing using raw emotion, no robotic editing over an extensive period of time... If it offends you, get the fuck OFF my thread and go get butt hurt over religion for all I care.
If someone was offended by a 9/11 thread, clearly they have some questionable associations. ? I honesty don't care much about that. I was too young at the time, and I didn't lose anyone as far as I'm aware, but I would never gripe until something like that was deleted. Especially if it had good intentions.
Even politics, I just want threads to be improved; quality, length, creativity, etc. Like I used to make news threads, stories, short stories with actual names of players in them, PIMD parodies, forum games. I've tried that song and dance. Somebody else should because I'm old as hell news.
People these days have the mentality of, "I have the right to not be offended!!" It's just how if is lol if you don't like what's on channel 69, you can always change to Channel 70 instead of bitchin about it :3 that's just how people are, ^ in general
And religious threads take nearly forever to get locked. Usually when people are offending each other of original poster requests it. I think the moderator/dev who deleted it had no common sense. Nor logical thought toward the thread.
In the entire time I've been here the only remotely religious thread I saw was the one on Nietzsche. I was expecting them to come up more. I enjoy those kinds of threads. They're more interesting than most things.
He's admirably enigmatic. But in honesty, people need to learn how to DEBATE, rather than ARGUE. There is so much of a difference between the two words that I can't even explain it without creating another thread. The reason people get upset is because people attack everything and turn every discussion into a personal and emotional argument. For an example, I tell you that evolution is fake, and then we get into a nice little argument about it, because you believe something else, and then it evolves into personal attacks by calling each other names, getting aggressive and what-not. However, last week, I had a discussion with that Chilly Willy cat about religion, and by no means am I religious, but I gave him non-offensive advice from his own perspective, in an effort to HELP him, rather than offend him. Discussions and debates are the key to getting things done properly and intelligibly. Arguments are how you emotionally affect someone, and make your point invalid.
I always feel like I need to interpret or find another way to read your comments so I dan understand them ? Anyways... I've been wanting more threads as spoken of earlier. Stories involving forumers names like before, BETTER club ads with good detail, good arguments ( not fights) and I do like the comics... ?I've suggested before that active topics should be all that if not then just all the Guides bumped up eternally
Raine, I think I actually had posted that thread because I was studying early philosophy last semester. That wasn't even offensive although I used phrases quoted from him, "God is dead, because man had killed him," and you can do that by examining what he means, his philosophy, and what-not. They're notes, not personal opinions. People treat everything like a life-or-death argument and that's a shame.
I remember that thread being class notes, but I couldn't remember who posted it. All together, it was a fascinating thread, and one that I enjoyed.
I remember that, I took notes almost exactly like that in a " Quest for Values" class, which was primarily philosophy topics and discussions.
I find it to be symbiotic, because it helps me to type out my notes on my phone (because I copy it down an extra time), and then I post it on forums so others can read what I am studying, and then they have the ability to learn with it. Then it sets me up with contacts or discussions with people who are experiences or interested in the field, as well as people who want to ask me questions, or even add or expand on information I had already provided. Plus, when people comment I can reread my notes which makes for an EXCELLENT studying opportunity.
That makes a ton of sense... And yet people do not like threads like that. I classify that under a "'smart" thread the trash are the " ohhh I have this new idea, support it" threads where the idea is as old as when I started.
