You do not have to pay money to play this game. Sure, it makes it easier, but it is not impossible to play without spending money. I'm not trying to kiss up to anyone 

 

Last time I checked the TOC says you have to be 13 or older to play with parents permission  and there was a post not too long ago confirming this? But okay.

If you plan to BC anytime soon—as a lot of us would like to—then yes, you must pay-to-play. Without paying for ecs to buy cats, and notes out of the wazoo in order to maximize earnings from said cats, you're looking at a good 4+ years before reBCing, if you were even a BC before the new tier and levels dropped. That is, of course, unless ATA were to take advice from it's loyal customers who pay dearly for them to continue developing this game and filling their wallets.

I still felt it cost less (in real money terms) to bc this time round than it did back in the t5bc says (i was largely ecbc then). But the difference is that this time there is less ability to bc without spending, i.e. just using time and activity)

I think ata kind of shot itself in the foot with cat cafe. Before, spenders spent on ec because it was quicker and faster. Sure, now you get 20+ b2b cc clubs making you $40k plus per year. But that doesn't even cover their costs and so they needed to use hunts etc to incentivise their big spenders. But hunts are time intensive too, so you exclude potential big spenders who don't have time or dislike hunts.

If I were them I'd just multiply the ec rate by 5, allow care packs to also double it, then let the good times roll

people would have bought cats to earn money if the dorms are 150b or 300b. Either way, people want X5 to get there quicker. People didn't try make money because of thinking there'd be 50% off,they just held off upgrading.
