Sorry for the large dialogue but I find it necessary. "Shay?" he asks groggily. "It's kinda late. What's going on?" "Well you probably don't want to know now that I think about it. Go back to sleep. Sorry I disturbed you." "Can you please tell me?" he asks softly clearly still waking up. "Nothing. Never mind. Forget I said anything. Go back to bed." after a pause throws in a desperate, "Please." "No. Tell me. What's it about at least." She pauses for a moment and whispers one word, "Razors." "Are you cutting yourself?" when she doesn't reply he continues on. "Shay please stop this isn't funny. You've got me freaking out. Is this for real?" he practically cries. Simply she says, "This is for real. I have five cuts on my arm." "Wait what? Dammit Shay! Why? What happened please tell me." "Charlie it hurts," she says pain and sadness in her voice. "Do something! Stop the bleeding! What happened?" "I'm not really sure. I'm really confused and I'm freaking out. What if someone sees?" she repeats trailing off at the end, "What if someone sees?" "That doesn't matter right now!" he screams. "Then what does dammit?" her voice breaking. "What happened?" "To make me do this? Is that what you want," she says breaking into tears. "I just want to know what happened. I want to know so I can keep you safe from whatever happened." "But you can't!" she sobs. "I can't even protect myself! How could someone else even protect me?" "I'm here for you. I thought you would always remember that," he says simply as if it was a fact, an axiom, a rule, an unbroken law. "Are you though?" she asks hysterically. "I don't know. It doesn't always feel like it." "Why wouldn't I be here for you?" "I don't know. I'm so confused. I don't understand it." Out of the blue he asks, "Are you drunk?" "Fuck you," she says after a pause and then hangs up. The minute the phone call ended she burst into a fresh round of tears.
Ive never cut or anything like that. I value life too much. Afterall you only live once. The world will keep on spinning even without us. It will spin for all of eternity and we get to share it for our 70 or 80 years. Why end that early? Live life to the fullest and dont look back. Only look forward and enjoy the moments with your friends and family. You only live once.
