McKenna waited for the *thought by her* deserved sorry. Her big, bold and beautiful lashes were becoming wet with tears that were collecting in her blue-green eyes. But she fought to keep them down. "Ummm," she tried hard to keep her voice level, "I'm…I'm…I'm sorry!" McKenna looked at Linda through silent tears. "Mum…Mum…she always tells us things. Can we still be friends?" Linda nodded, then smiled, and then gave her the most enormous hug EVER! McKenna was filled with joy. "Y'know, proms next week, who are you going with?" McKenna quizzed Linda. Linda had ummed and arred about it for ages and knew people would ask. "I s'pose no one really, I haven't been invited to it yet. I just wish, just wish…"
"Just wish Tyler would ask you out to it? The guy who is so popular coz he was captain in year six? The guy who came midway last year and you instantly fell in luv with him? That Tyler?" McKenna finished the sentence off for Linda. "Well, yeah of course. But you see, he and Brontę have been dating, and, well yeah. Who are you?" But she already knew the answer. Josh. Not the hottest guy on the planet, but they've been together since late year seven. "Only a sleek black haired, green-eyed, tall, slender and muscular man named Josh." McKenna smirked. Not the hottest guy she could've snagged but he was best mate of Alastair, vice-captain of the soccer team she thought. "Has he actually asked you though?" Linda questioned McKenna further. "Is he 'The One'? What about Nathan?" Linda didn't want to see her best friend end up with the wrong guy. Linda had seen the way he looked at McKenna and how McKenna had blushed at him. It was obvious to her. But not McKenna. McKenna looked disgusted but kept talking all the while. "Any way, I forget how our brothers died…"
"Oh really! Please don't make me." McKenna gave her a serious stare. She stammered, "Oh, oh, oh kkk-ay." McKenna did a victory dance. "Well, it was two years ago. We were in year seven and them in year five. Cameron had come over to my place to play with Mich and Mum, Dad, Mich and Cameron were driving over I drop Cam off." Linda shifted uncomfortably in her seat and continued. "They were getting to the KFC corner and saw an old lady crossing the road right in front of them we were told. It was a green light for the cars and red for the pedestrians but still she walked." McKenna was looking teary eyed now but kept on bravely. "They couldn't stop, they were going to fast. But still Dad braked. He skidded and swerved. They were rear-ended and flew through the windows." "No survivers. None. Zilch. Mum, Dad, Michelangelo and Cameron lost their lives. They were so excited to be in year six in six weeks. They'd meet their buddies and had twenty-thousand ideas for the year six fun day. They even hadn't turned twelve." Linda started sobbing. McKenna put her arm around her friend. She knew how Linda felt. She had been very close to Cam just like Linda to her Mum. "Oh, look at that! Quick, quick we better get up!"
Linda looked up. "What is it McKenna? What's wrong?!" Instinctively Linda stood up. "Quick!" McKenna hissed, "grab your bag and hurry! We are gonna miss our stop!" Linda came into action. She jumped up as well as grabbing her bag and moving down the bus in one smooth move. But McKenna had no time to smile. Safely she walked to the driver with Linda behind her. They were just in time. "WAIT! Mister Bus driver, may we get off here?" McKenna asked sweetly. In a gruff but clear voice he replied, "Do so however, please do not not forget. If you are late, you may miss a date. So if your always on time, don't worry." He smiled and opened the door. The pair climbed out. And run into the back of someone. Whom he is they don't know until they apologies. "Oh, we are so sorry! Me and my friend didn't mean to walk into you!" The guy turned round, and all they could do was gasp…
Linda managed "Hi" and practically fainted. Lucky McKenna caught her. She gently hit Linda in the head till she came round. He had offered to stay with McKenna and Linda, since when he turned around Linda blacked out. "Umm, McKenna?" Linda asked, she still had her eyes shut tight, "Can you, like, stop hitting me? I'll hit you back!" McKenna quickly stopped and helped her bestie up. Linda was grateful for the helping hand and smiled. Then she just had to turn around to stare into the deep, brown eyes of Tyler, her secret love. "Oh, hello Tyler. I'm like so sorry but we kinda have to go. Like now?!" Linda pulled McKenna away at a run. Though McKenna did not want to be pulled along and was stubbornly trying to slow down. Linda looked back, "For GODS sake McKenna, hurry up! I wanna get A-WAY from Tyler!" "Shh," McKenna calmly replied, "Don't hurt his feelings. And anyway ya gotta face him someday Linda, can't run away from luv." McKenna dragged out the v. Linda huffed. "He sooo doesn't wanna talk ta me. Cuz you got the popular boyfriend, he wants to talk to you!" Linda let go of McKenna and started to walk quickly. She called back, "You coming?" to McKenna and disappeared out of sight. McKenna shrugged at Tyler and went after her friend. In her head McKenna was stumped on something she had seen in Tyler's eyes. "Hmm, was that a look of loneliness? And loving? Headed in Linda's way?" McKenna came to a conclusion. "Oh My Gosh, Tyler is totally into Linda!" McKenna ran off to Linda and didn't know Tyler was coming too…
