  4. yay

  5. This is the most boring update so far. Don't worry the next update, in like 3 months, will have a little more excitement. Enjoy.
P.S. I'm sorry for any grammatical errors.

Two months had passed by, the nights were getting cooler and the days became shorter. The leaves turned burnt orange, goldenrod yellow, and some clay red. Stores were putting up the months holiday decorations up, some even advertised with silly puns.

Neith looked at her reflection in the stores display glass, she sighed as she saw bags under her eyes, her hair was a mess and her stomach gurgled unhappily since she rushed out of the house this morning with no breakfast. How could she let this happen?

"Sister! We are going to be late!" Kains hand latched onto hers and forcefully dragged her away from her image. "What is wrong with you?" Kain asked as he sped walk, dodging the morning pedestrians on the side walk, Neith following easily.
"I stayed up late studying for my stupid algebra test..." As they stopped at corner Neith quickly smoothed out her hair with her small fingers, that were shaking and cold. No jacket.
Kain let out an audible grunt of disapproval, glancing at his sister. "I thought he was helping you with this." He grabbed her hand again and started walking as soon as the black, square box displayed the white walk sign.

"He is...was...he's been busy...with her. Slow down..." Neith had started taking huge strides to keep up with her brother.
Suddenly her brother took a wrong turn into an empty, slightly hidden alley way. Neith gave him a confused look.

"What is wrong with you? Ever since you and Jack broke up you've become so....submissive. You don't care about anything anymore, do you not feel anything either?" He referred to Saturday night.

Kain had set the house for a romantic dinner after Neith finished her shift at the studio. But he couldn't even get her to take a wine glass. Then when he tried to make love to her, she responded by smacking his face and yelling, as loudly as she could, that she wasn't ready to move on. That she didn't need her own brother to be a rebound. Neith proceeded to lock herself in her room to study, only coming out to eat.

Kain caressed his sisters cheek, lightly stepping in licking his lips out of nervousness to kiss her. It's been so long since their lips had touched. Since they held hands. Since making love.

"We'll be late." Neith mumbled as she pushes her brother aside and strutted off towards campus.

Her pace quickened as she heard the morning bell shrill loudly, Neith looked over her shoulder to make sure Kain at least entered the school. He had. With a slight sigh of relief Neith ascended the school stairs, to the second floor, to her first class. The halls were already empty and all doors were shut, her shoulders slumped as she shuffled towards her class. As she walked she pinched her cheeks, bit her lips, and smoothed her hair out once more. Her small hands pushed her hair over one shoulder and patted her clothes gently, she then placed a hand on her classrooms doorknob. Neith straightened her shoulders, her face went into an emotionless but captivating stare as she turned the knob and entered her class.

"Those are your partners for the project, remember class that I will be handing out a list of requirements needed for this project at the end of the class." Mr. Pilmer was leaned over his large wooden desk where the plams of his hands rested perfectly on the desk, he straightened up as Neith entered the class.
"Ah, Miss Henderson I'm glad you've decided to grace us with you appearance." Mr. Pilmer removed his hipster framed glasses letting Neith get a full view of his yellow speckled emerald eyes.
"I'm sorry for my tardiness Mr. Pilmer, I'll make sure it'll never happen again." Neith smiled, bowing her head in respect to the teacher.
"Good, now take a seat next to your project partner." He pointed out to the class as he looked down at his lesson plan.
Neith scanned the crowd of faces and spotted the hand indicating her partner. She quietly made her way towards the student, only to bite her lip to see that the hand belonged to Jack. Neith mentally gave herself a pep talk as she took the empty seat by Jack.
"Alright class, open your anatomy books to page 635 read the short chapter and answer the assessment questions at the end. Be sure to answer in complete sentences. Keep the talk to a minimum, anything louder than a whisper will get homework." Mr. Pilmers eyes scanned the class quickly then he sat down, picking up a thick, hard back book entitled 'Teach Me'*.
Neith glanced over at Jack as she opened her book. He had is book in his lap, propped against the table as he silently read to himself. His eyes fluttered away from the paragraph he was reading to look at her, she averted her eyes quickly. He say up straighter and set his book on the table, his hand reached out and tugged on her sleeve.

"Hey, I'm sorry I didn't come over last night. Clarise really needed me, she's in her birthing month, but she won't slow down." Jack faintly smiled at her.
"It's fine. I understand. I studied the notes I took and did a few problems from the book." Neith kept her eyes on her notebook, hand fluently moving the pen across the lined paper.
"Did you even read the chapter?" His hand snatched up the pen in her hand placing it behind his ear. "And don't lie to me, I know you're upset, I'll make it up to you Neith."
Neith grunted as she pulled out another pen, cringing that the ink was blue and not black like the rest of her answers. "Please don't strain yourself for me Jack, your best friend. But by all means, spread yourself thin for a girl who isn't even carrying your child." With that said Neith turned to glare at him, her cheeks becoming red. Jack opened his mouth to protest, Neith interrupted instead. "You could've called at least so I could've found someone else to help me. You know how difficult algebra...numbers are for me!" Her voice rose above a whisper.
Mr. Pilmer snapped his fingers, not looking up from his book, "Ms. Henderson, please do the section review, even the discussion questions. Return it tomorrow. Thank you."
Jack chuckled as he hunched over his book, only to be lightly popped upside the head by a small hand.
"Ow." He playfully said. "Look Neith I really will make it up to you, okay?" He gave her a warm smile, a hand held hers as he caressed the back of her hand with his thumb. How could she stay angry at this wonderful man, she melted.
"Jack can you promise me something? You have to promise me right now." She held out her pinky to him.
"What I don't get to know first?" He looked over at her pinky as he fished out his notebook to start on the assessment questions.
"No, you may not." She holds up her arm, pushing her pinky into his face. "Come on."
"Alright." He slid his pinky into hers and holds it there. They never allowed each other let go until they've heard what they had gotten themselves into.
"Jack...please whatever you do, do not, I repeat do not sign your name to that birth certificate. The child isn't yours so you should not have to pay child support for him...or her." Her eyes were file with concern and worry.
Jack sighed and nodded as he leaned in, Neith did too. They kissed their pinkies and let go.
Neith stared down at her paper, some answers in black and some in blue. She chewed at the bottom of her lip, then looked over at Jack.
"Oh damn, sorry." He hands her the black pen behind his ear. Neith smiles, flips to a new page in her notebook, and begins to answer the assessment questions again.

Jack propped up on his elbow, placing his chin in his hand as he watched Neith. He couldn't help himself and smiled, her OCD was one of his favorite things about her. It could be a pain at times, but the satisfaction she received after fixing what she needed to always made her glow. His eyes moved from her eyes over her face, taking in her hair, jawline, and lips. She was a petite person, but had a huge personality. His pen tapped on his notebook as thought back on the day they met. Her ex-boyfriend Matthew was hanging on her, giving off the impression that he needed her more than she needed him. Which he quickly found out that his assumption was true, Neith was a very independent person, she just liked being loved on at times.
Suddenly the classroom door swung open, making the door knob hit the wall and jump back at the intruder. The student jolted in their seats, including Jack and Neith. Mr. Pilmer stood up quickly, tensing a little.
"What is the meaning of this?" He looked down at the disrespectful student.
"I'm sorry sir, but..." The breathless student took a moment for themselves to catch their breath. "Jack is needed, Clarise's water has broken and is requesting his presences at the hospital."
Mr. Pilmers nodded and snapped his fingers, making Jack stand and foolishly try to pack his things.
"Go Jack, I'll grab your things." Neith stood placing her hand on his shoulder to calm him. "I know your locker number and the combination."
Jack nodded and walked around her, calm and collected now. The student apologized for the intrusion and walked out behind Jack, closing the door softly.
Mr. Pilmers clapped his hands to catch the students attention. "Continue your work please, the disruption was not an allowance to become distracted." His eyes glanced over at Neith. "Ms. Henderson, you have my permission to leave 10 minutes before class to take Jacks things to his locker."
"Yes sir, thank you sir." Neith bowed her head down in respect then quietly packed Jacks things, all the while hoping he remembered the pinky promise they had agreed on. He had never broken a promise to her, but it is never too late for him to start now.

  6. Oh. I forgot to add. There is an asterisk..? (*) on the book title Mr. Pilmer is reading.

This is a real book, not something I just made up. It's a good book, short and an easy read. I don't know the author.

I just wanted to give credit to that book since it is real and doesn't belong to me.

    Thank you.
