I’ve never seen this thread before, this is all pretty neat! Though I don’t think bashing ata for “stealing” is correct because (most) of these people are models or famous, thus making their photos pretty much completely free to use as inspiration! Especially since ata doesn’t claim it all as 100% original, never before seen work.
They sell their likenesses for ecs/money without permission. So yes, it is wrong, and the girl dressed like the literal mermaid actually took action on it
That’s why I specified that MOST of the images they use are for free use and are used for tens to hundreds of websites for advertising, just as ATA is doing. I’m not saying all of it is right of them, but not all of it is wrong.
It is 100% wrong to use another person's likeness and then sell it for money without their permission. People are free to draw their likenesses without permission but not sell them. That's where the immorality comes from
All of this depends on the model/photographed individual or the agency the photo belongs to. Just as google shows free use pictures that can be used with no legal issues or copy right issues. If a model is freelance or owns her own photos and posts them for use of anyone, so be it. It isn’t always right, and I have no idea if ATA checks those rights now, but that’s how it works. They’re not always wrong ??♀️
