Percyous' POV I was punching a dummy when a soilder walked up to me and said "Sir, there's some woman out there with some papers that say she's incharge. What do I do sir?" "Take her to the barracks, send squads one through nine to the village for a day of leave. And have a steak ration ready for me, give me five minutes." "Yes sir!" he said as he saluted and walked away. I put on my chestplate and made sure it was polished and went to the barracks licking up the ration on the way. I sat down on the cot across from her and tossed the ration to her. "Steak, mashed potatoes and water." I raised my hand to prevent her from talking and told her "If you are here to deport me then go ahead. I have been waiting for it to happen for a week." I held out me hands expecting to be cuffed. "So go ahead and take me to my death if that's why you're here."
Josephine's POV I raised an eyebrow at the man. "My name is Josephine Waterfield. I was sent here to see about the reports of a small mutiny, soldiers not following protocol. I can see that the status of this base has changed. I will not be hauling you in for anything," I sighed. "I don't have the authority to do that." "Then why are you here?" the man asked. I bit my lip. I'm first a spy, I thought. I can't tell him that. And if I blow this mission, how am I going to get to the big leagues? "I'm just here to observe and report back to my, uh, commander, on the situation at this base." I smiled. "Believe me, I'd rather not be here." That, at least, was true. "I'd rather be back with my own squadron, but I did not do so well on the last mission-" not true "-so they are using me as an observer. Now, I told you my story, so you can tell me yours. What the hell happened here?"
I'd love to collaborate on this story! But I'm silenced do it'd have to be u update then me then u and so on
Percyous' POV I told her what happened at the village and told her about our help in rebuilding it. I stood up and said "Time for the tour, here's your sword by the way, it's for the commanding officer on base and that's you." I gave her the sword and walked away motioning for her to follow before she could say anything. I showed her the officer's quarters, security office, cafeteria, blacksmith's forge, and everything else. I left her in her quarters and I went back to my bed to check my mail cart to check for mail. I reached in and found a envalope with the official stamp of the general. I opened it and read the letter carefully. I narrowed my eyes as I began to confirm my suspicion that she wasn't telling me the whole truth. I got up to take the letter to her. I had been made Seargent my squad. She had been promoted to colonel.
Josephine's POV The soldier brought me back to my barracks and I collapsed onto my bed- not before setting the sword down on the table. "I hate swords," I said to myself. "Give me a poison ring any day." "So that's why you were so antsy," a voice came from the doorway. I looked up and it was the commanding soldier. "What do you want now?" I asked. "You can't give me another tour and it's to dark to go see that village of yours." He walked into the room. "No, you're going to go help in the village tomorrow. I'm here about this." He threw an envelope at me. "This is from the general." I glared at him. "So?" I sat up. "I mean, yeah, he's your commander or whatever, but not mine." "Now he is." The soldier said. "You're a colonel." I stood up. "Nope. I'm really not." "Yes, you really are." He said, mocking me. "I don't follow the orders of anyone but my Leader." I instantly bit my tongue. Dang, I thought. I've said to much. His eyes narrowed. "Yes, I know that to." He picked up the letter. "I know what you are." He said smugly. My eyes widened. "No you don't." "Yes I do." He smirked. "You're a spy."
Percyous' POV "You're a spy" as I said it the look on her face confirmed it. She caught herself and hid her emotions but she had already confirmed it. "No I'm not!" She said desperatly trying to cover her tracks. "It all adds up, your secret is safe with me." I respond to her while I pull up a chair from her desk and sat down. "Aslong as you run descisions bye first of course." She moved closer until she was inches from my face and said with a smile "Why? You that much of a control freak?" I smiled back as I replied "No, I just don't want to get killed cause of anyone except me." "Well soilder, I guessing got no choice." she did, but it would mean her having to run this place herself, and she couldn't do that herself, we both knew it. "Names Percyous, don't wear it out miss Jophine." I walked away with a smile as I said over my shoulder "The squads will be back in a few minutes, I suggest you call a rally, introduce yourself, then throw a party tomorrow, they'll like you right away."
JOSEPHINE'S POV I collapsed into a chair. Great. Just great. I can throw a party with the best of them, I know I can, but I'm NOT being some soldier. Or colonel. Or whatever. I pulled back the covers on my bed and tried to one up with a plan before I fell asleep. Let's see, I thought. I could run- but he's got to many soldiers. Hide- nope, I don't know of a good place. Fight my way out- dang, I'd be killed. I need to get out of here, back to the mansion, and figure out why they sent me to this place. And why they made me a colonel. Why the heck DID they do that? And then I fell asleep, dreaming of the mansion, and of decapitating a certain commanding officer with his own sword.
Percyous' POV I told the men what happened, well he part about her promotion anyway, they would revolt if they knew we were being spied on by our supiriors and I have made up in my mind that I will help her whenever I can. I decided to wait to appoint a luitinent of my squad so we were the only squad with four privates instead of three. I got up and went to the armoury to turn in my armour and sword in exchange for the Seargent's issue. Knowing that she would have forgotten about it I picked up her's too and left it outside her door. I then went decided to skip dinner and went back to the barracks to go to sleep early. I found myself thinking about the spy, the last thing I remember before I fell asleep was swing her face. I woke up to an empty barracks and relized I hadn't woken her up, she was expected to know the schedual so no one else would have, I put on my armour hastily and got up to take her to the training hall.
Josephines POV I woke up early. I remembered the officer- Percyous, his name is- telling me about training and stuff, but, well, I've already had way to much of that. I put my hand in my pocket and pulled out my ring. I had gotten it my first day at the mansion, and quickly mastered pricking people with it without there knowledge. To poison them, of course. But no poison has touched this ring in a long time. I put on my ring, grabbed the sword, and left my room. I remembered seeing a forest behind the base, past the beach. Might as well see if there's any poisonous berries there. I stepped out into the bright daylight and ran into the forest. I quickly found some berries that were barely undistinguishable from blackberries but were deadly. I used the juice to fill my ring and put some on the blade. "What are you doing?" I spun around. It was Percyous. I held up my ring. "Priming my first choice of weapon. I could walk past you and prick you with this, injecting poison into your body, and you wouldn't realize until you saw the light at the end of the tunnel." "And the sword?" He pointed. "If I only scratch a person with it, they'd still die." I shrugged. "I'm not that good with swords, to be honest. I was always better at archery and poison. Why did you come looking for me?" "It's training time." Percyous said. "And the men are anxious to meet the new recruit that's a colonel. Oh by the way, here's your colonel's stuff." I sighed. "Yay, a new sword." I picked more poison berries and walked with Percyous to the base.
Percyous' POV As we reached the training room I pointed at an obsticule course and told her "You might like that the best if you decide to train with the privates, officer training is after dinner. Have fun." I walked away to pick up my stone sacks. I picked up one of the sacks from a pile and made sure it was full of stone blocks. I hung them up, set down my chestplate and started to punch them as I always did. "I thought you said Officer's training is after dinner." I looked over and saw "Colonel" standing next to me watching. "It is, I am just helping the miners out, they'll shift through it for ores later." I said withought stoping. "Well," she started but then the lights went out. I immediatly ran to the door and tried to open it. "Locked". I said as I immediatly began to hammer it untill I could slide them open manually. "Squad eight! Fall in!" "Whats wrong?" the spy asked, "We are under attack." I said immediatly walking out forgetting my chestplate and relizing I didn't have my sword.
Josephine's POV I tossed Percyous my colonels sword and grabbed my poisoned one. "I'll be better if I have the poison on my side." I said, and he nodded. We ran through the corridors, trying to find the source of the alarms, and made it to the front doors, when a voice gave me pause. "Stop," I held up my hand, and we retreated down the corridor so no one could see us. "Make sure not one traitor from this base survives." A woman's voice said. "Especially the spy, and the soldier that caused the mutiny." I heard a mans voice over the din. Percyous and I gasped at the same time. "The Leader," I whispered. "The General," he breathed. "What are we going to do? I asked.
Percyous' POV Now, I kill that liar I almost said. I found that I only had one option. I turned to her and replied "Get out of here, evac everyone. Use the train." "And you?" "I buy you time." "No, we take them together." I sighed, "That would be a waste of lives. Go to the village, I will catch up with you, I swear. And if I see anyone coming back to help me I will kill them. So you have no choice, go." she stared at me for a second then ran back towards the training hall my squad following behind her. I threw the sword to the ground, someone came out and looked at the weapon lying there, by the time he looked at me he was laying on the floor with a glassy look in his eyes. There was suddenly a flood of soildes coming at me. Not one made it through the door. I punched, choked, elbowed, and after a few arrows inplanted themselves in my arm and chest I used human shields. Arrows kept coming and many found their target, until I heard the sound that meant the train had left. I decided to give them a few minutes and soon I looked like a porcupine, but I kept fighting. After another few minutes I began to feel woozy and knew I was getting too many hits from the archers. I turned and ran after throwing my human shields into the crowd of enemies. I made it to the entrence/exit and ran out into the sand, pausing only to pull out a bundle of dynomite, lite it, and throw it into the base causing it to collapse into itself. I became too tired to run anymore and pulled our arrows one by one. After what felt like hours the villiage came into veiw. I was so close I could actially make out the individual buildings. I still had many arrows in me when I felt myself sink to one knee exausted. I fell sideways into the sand staring at my blood seeping into the sand, the last thing I remember thinking was about some promise I made what feels like decades ago to some woman that I hoped was still alive.
Josephine's POV I stared out the window of a small hut on the edge of the village and sighed. I somehow managed to get everyone on our side out. Percyous had given us enough time. But now he's probably dead. "Jo!" I heard a small girl's scream as she ran into the hut. "There's a man outside and he doesn't look well!" My thoughts instantly snapped to Percyous. "Show me where he is!" The girl ran out the door and I followed. He was on the ground, blood oozing slowly from his body. "Anna," I shouted at the girl, "get the medics!" she ran off, glad to be away from the bloody mess. I knelt next to Percyous. He had taken lots of arrows, and sword hits. I took off my jacket and managed to wipe some of the blood off his face, then put it under his head as a pillow. I vaguely remember the two medics that had escaped with us picking him up and taking him away, I just remember sitting there, certain he was dead. And vowing to get revenge.
Percyous' POV I woke up laying in some bed with a medic standing over me. My memories began to return, "Did she get out?" I asked the medic while already struggling to sit up. "You can't sit up yet!" he said almost immediatly "I'll sit up when I want to, infact, you're right. I think I'll stand instead." I replied walking away and shaking him off. Seems like I made it into the village, good because I needed something from here. I walked to a certain spot and dug up the sand until I came upon the box of money I buried there. I put some in a pouch and went to the tavern. "Give me the strongest thing you got." I told the bartender as I sat on the stool. "Here ya go," he replied as he set down a mug full of a frothing drink. "Cheers" I said sarcasticly while raising the mug in a moc toast. I began to drink and somehow ended up with atleast twenty mugs infront of me. "More!" I yelled "No! You drank to much." he replied staring at me determined not to sell me anymore, "It's starting to wear off! I need more unlease you got something stronger! I came here to forget, so bring me more!" I yelled agian suddenly feeling lightheaded. "Well wadya know?" I said as I passed out sitting at the table my fingers clutching the mug.
I was in the main square of the village, trying to keep track of who we had evacuated, and holding a meeting to to put some sense of order to the village. The villagers had been very helpful when we stumbled into their town, but we needed to work out some things. "OI!" I shouted, and everyone fell silent. "Everyone from the base, stand over here, and could all the villagers stand over here?" I pointed. "Now, I want all the people from the base to find the others that shared their job, archers get in a group with archers, medics find the other medics, and so on. Villagers, please figure out Joe many extra people you could hold in your home. Your generosity is much appreciated." A medic who was late came rushing up. "Ma'am-" "Don't call me ma'am." I interrupted. "I'm Josephine, but call me Jo." The medic nodded. "Um, Jo, Percyous ran out of the medical hut." I groaned. "Do you know where he is?" The medic shook his head. "Alright," I spoke to the crowd. "Change of plans. Who hear knows anything about where Percyous is?" A few people mumbled, and most shook their heads no. I sighed. "Well we need to find him. He does have multiple wounds after all." I managed to get everyone to search for him, and eventually one of the villagers mentioned something about a bar. He took me to the bar. "Has a man come in here recently that had several arrow wounds?" I asked the bartender. "Yeah," he answered. "He passed out so I took him to the back room and put him on a bed there." I shook my head. "Great, just great. Alright, I need to see him." The bartender brought me to Percyous who looked like he was asleep. "He's been that way for a while, miss." The bartender said. I sat next to him and shook him gently. "Percyous? Percyous, time to get up!" "What?" he woke up suddenly. "What happened?" "You ran away from the medic, got drunk, and passed out." "Damn," he sat up. "I still remember." "You were trying to forget?" I asked quietly. "Yeah," he said. "Well we need every person in top form, and that includes you." I said. "For what?" Percyous asked. "I destroyed the base, I'm pretty sure everyone inside it is dead." I smiled slightly. "Good. Because we need to figure out why they were doing that, and why they wanted to kill us, and what they were planning."
