Chapter 14 " The bloodshed rages " Misuki sat down on a tree stump after two hours of walking. Her legs ached slightly in protest. She turned her head to glance at Hiro, who in turn sat on the ground by her. Hazel climbed in to a near by tree with haste. Perhaps in hopes of getting a bite to eat. She closed her eyes slowly, letting her mind drift back to old memories she tried to keep locked away. The scream from her mother pulled her in. Misuki looked through the eyes of a barely aged teenager. She saw her mother reach for her. Desperate to save her daughter from the impact. Tears stung her eyes, reaching out to her mother. Their fingertips barely grazed before they were jerked violently. The screams echoed in her head. Hiro shifted uncomfortably in their silence. His attention shifted to Misuki. Eyes widening in alarm as he caught sight of the first tear escaping behind closed eyelids. His back went straight, pulling himself to his knees to get closer. Misuki felt a hand on her face, wiping away the tears glistening down her cheeks. Her eyes snapped open, staring openly in surprise at Hiro. She shivered visibly while he rid her of remaining tears. Hiro drew her in, wrapping his arms around her small frame. He felt her try to move back, his grip tightened, " It's okay to cry when you're upset or sad. It's not weakness. ", He whispered near her ear. Misuki bit her lip, tears forming again in green grey eyes. She hesitated and slowly leaned in to his warm embrace. Burying her face in the front of his shirt. She fisted the sides of his shirt in her hands. Hiro rubbed small circles on her back. Massaging the tense muscles he felt beneath his fingers. Her sobs were intense at first, shaking her entire being. Ten minutes passed. He felt her grow still in his arms. Her breathing soft and even. He moved his hand to brush her hair out of her angelic face. He studied her face for what seemed like forever. He never met anyone like her before. Moving them carefully so he could lean against a tree. He settled in and held her against him. Her head slipped to lean against his shoulder. Cradling her protectively, he closed his eyes. Deciding to get some sleep. How would they fight in extreme exhaustion? She awoke enveloped in warmth. It took all but a minute to realize where she was. She lay still against him, unsure if to move or not. Deciding against it, she lifted her head slowly from his shoulder. Peering at his peaceful face as he slept. A smile graced her lips. He was special. Getting lost in her thoughts. She didn't notice the beautiful pair of amber eyes watching her secretly. A finger snuck under her chin. Tilting her head up to her surprise. Hazel blue eyes watched amber. He leaned in and brushed his lips softly against hers. Cupping her cheek with his other hand. She felt her cheeks warm to his touch. Slowly and softly responding to his insistent lips. She slipped a hand up the back of his shoulder blade. Sliding her fingertips up the back of his neck. She teased him, running her fingernails gently along his skin. She heard a soft groan, before being pulled in closer to deepen the kiss. She felt his tongue trace her bottom lip lightly. Thunder struck just feet from them. She jumped from his arms, wings out in defense. An ice blue ball of power forming in her hand. Her heart raced and her eyes frantically looked for the attacker. Hiro quickly got to his feet, " Misuki! What is it? ", He asked as he stepped forward to get a closer look. She grabbed his hand, pulling him with her, " We must leave now!", She replied with urgency laced in her melodic voice. He grunted as she pulled him near. Her wings flying them up and away from the direction the lightning hit. A fire ball flew past them, nearly catching her left wing on fire. She glared behind her shoulder and picked up pace.
Chapter 15 " My comrades " Screams echoed as two bodies hit the side of a mountain and tumbled downwards. A groan sounded, confirming the pain of one. The other remained still in a heap on the ground. A large black demon tilted it's head. It's sharp red teeth bared and claws extended out. It sneered in triumph, " I like the hunt before the meal. ", It said in a raspy hallow voice. Hiro pulled out his revolver, aiming for it's head. A green arrow shot down from the sky. Embedding in the demon's forehead. Several more arrows came after the first. Hitting every vital organ that were easily ruptured. The demon exploded with a scream like nails on a chalk board. The green light filling the void. A tall man with short spiky black hair stood near by. His ocean blue eyes narrowed at Hiro, " Who are you?!?", He snarled out and came forward towards him like an enraged beast. Hiro growled as he shifted his aim to the new comer. He noticed the white wings folding behind the man's back. But that did little to comfort. Especially for that fact that he was several inches taller than him. A young woman with shoulder length blue hair jumped in between the two. Her hands out to signal them to stop, " Segaru that's enough! ", She said calmly as she locked blue gazes with the taller angel. Glancing at Hiro, she frowned, " How did you get here? ", She asked him with suspicion. Just as she was going to get a reply. A soft whimper was heard from the right. Segaru was immediately at Misuki's side. He lifted her up in to his arms, cradling her like a fragile doll. Her right wing hung limply at her side, having been crushed during her impact with the mountain. Hiro bit his lip, his eyes watching her with concern. He wanted to go to her, but that was near impossible with the protective older angel hovering over her like a hawk. Tasha walked over to Segaru and Misuki. Gently brushing her hand over the other girl's broken wing, " We don't have much time. Lets get her to base and have them work on the wing. ", She said softly to Segaru who returned her gaze with a gentle one. With a slight nod from Segaru. She watched him take off with Misuki, Hiro's protesting falling on deaf ears. She turned to him and wrapped an arm around his waist before following Segaru, " You must be ' The one '. For all heaven's sake and for the sake of earth. I hope your prepared. ", She whispered by his ear. Hiro gazed at her in bewilderment. His thoughts drifted between Misuki's health and the battle coming. He clenched his jaw and looked ahead. Ignoring the curious stare from Tasha. They arrived at a stone building made by the hands of angels. It arched at the top and slowly swooped down. Rows of flowers decorated around it. A vast of different colors gave off a serene feeling. You wouldn't have guessed it was used as an angel's base. Tall ever green trees grew from the ground. Creating a fortress like shield around it. The silver butterfly carved chimes gently shook on the branches they hung from. Tasha landed gently on her feet. Setting Hiro down beside her. She held her hand out slowly to ice blue shield that lit up around the base. Waiting, it slowly read the imprint of her hand and cleared them in. Segaru followed up the back end with Misuki. Just as they entered, the shield closed back up. Segaru walked ahead of the group. Opening the steel door, he stepped in and continued down a long corridor. Halting once he reached the right door, 5 doors down from the beginning of the hallway. He nudged the door open, which opened up to a large room. Healers ran back and forth between beds. Trying their best to keep up with the amount of injured angels being brought in with in the last twenty four hours. Tasha stepped around Hiro who stood in shock. She sought out a blonde with rain colored eyes. The two women exchanged words before Misuki was handed off to the blonde. They followed behind her quietly. The young blonde carried the girl to a room discreetly off to the side from all the chaos. She laid her on the bed, removing her shoes and pulling up the covers. Ushering the small group out of the room and allowing two angel medics to enter in after. She turned to face them, " The injury is minor. She'll be okay, but don't push her directly in to battle until she is fully healed. ", She said to Tasha, glancing at Segaru for a second. Her gaze stopped on Hiro, staring longer than she should have. A sharp scream came from the room behind her. Hiro made a move to go to the girl screaming, but a muscular arm cuffed his neck and held him back. Tasha cringed and looked at Hiro, " Anna is a good doctor. She knows what she's doing. ", She said to him, her eyes holding a flicker of worry. Anna nodded to Segaru to release Hiro, " In order for her to heal properly. We need to reset the bone. Now please wait outside so we can concentrate. ", She stated in a doctor like tone that held no room for arguing. The group was ushered out in to the hallway. Hiro slid to the floor, his head lowered and arms hung over his knees. Tasha looked at him in pity and sighed. Leaning against the wall beside Segaru.
Chapter 16 " His destiny " Hiro tangled his fingers in his auburn hair. His eyes closed tight as he lost himself in thought. A soft growl rumbled in his throat, " How much longer?! ", He inquired impatiently. Tasha shot him a look, " As long as they need to take. Now-", She started to scold him, getting cut off by a loud crash. The building shook violently, knocking patients out of their beds and nurses to the floor. " The shield is being broken down!! " Segaru jumped to his feet, " We must not waste time! We have to protect it! ", He yelled to the other angels. Nodding to Tasha, he immediately took his leave out of the building. To fend off the invading demons crashing in to their shield. Tasha grabbed her quiver and green glowing arrows. She stopped by the doorway, " Hiro stay here. If anything should happen. There is a trapped door in the next door, beneath the third bed to your left. ", She said softly to him and left without another word. Anna followed after Tasha, waist length blonde hair pulled in to a ponytail, " We must stop them before they breach it completely! " Hiro watched ten more white winged angels follow suit. All racing to get outside to fight the intruders. He got up from the ground and made his way in to medical room #3. Stepping in quietly, he watched Misuki lay in the bed. Her chest rising and falling softly. Her hair fell in to her face, busy shifted on to her side. Her pale skin looked even paler if that were possible. As another attack shook the building. He struggled to remain standing. Damn it all, why him? Clenching his jaw and righting himself. He jogged over to the bed and scooped up the young angel laying unconscious on white sheets. Adjusting her in his arms, he made a run for room #2. She did say under bed number three right? As he gently placed Misuki over his shoulder. Shoving the bed to the side, his hand reaching for the handle of the trap door. Another explosion. Ruble and debris flying everywhere. He stumbled a little, trying to remain standing while pulling open the trap door. Forcing himself and Misuki down a dark hole. He forced the lid shut just as a body went flying in to the bed to his right. To be continued...
Going to update tonight. I promise. On a roll with two new updates on two other stories. This one is next. Promise Olive and Vick
Chapter 17 " Short stop " Hiro struggled and nearly tumbled over. Holding on to the unconscious form in his arms. He couldn't see not two feet in front of his face. That is until a small blue orb of light appeared before them. His eyes widened in slight fear. Where was the light coming from? Misuki gazed up at him through long black lashes. Her gentle green eyes barely opened. She held two fingers up, holding the light before them. Had she sensed his need for light? Hiro gulped and backed away alittle. His gaze quickly shifting to Misuki in concern. The space was much too small to run in, let alone fight. Then to top it off, he had an injured angel in his arms. A gasp escaped him in surprise. " M-Misuki?!? You're awake?! You shouldn't be draining your energy. You've been through a lot, save you're strength. ", He whispered to her with a tense tone. She smiled weakly at him, " It's okay Hiro..you need to see..I'll be okay. Just keep moving, these tunnels will lead you out. ", She replied with a soft voice, like a gentle wind in spring. Hiro narrowed his gaze sternly at her. Though after a continues stare down with his companion. He sighed in defeat and began moving forward. He felt her arms wrap around loosely on his neck. Holding back an amused grin. In such circumstances, he couldn't really be amused. They were in fact still in danger. After thirty minutes of walking. He stopped to take a break, not noticing the small passage way. It was to the left of them. Embedded in the stone walls like a gate to another realm. A small breeze drifted in, smelling like the sweet lilacs that grew in spring time. Hiro took a deep breath and slowly released it. It calmed his nerves and brought peace to his mind. It was a wonderful difference in contrast to the damp passageway they traveled in. Misuki squirmed and tugged on the front of his shirt, " Hiro, you'll have to put me down. Two people can't fit through there at the same time. ", She started and shook her head at his bewildered protests. " It's fine, I'll be okay to crawl through. It's not that long anyways, please. ", She told him with pleading light green eyes. She knew she won the argument when he hung his head. They stayed wrapped in each others's arms for five minutes. Then he slowly set her down by the opening. Deciding to check to make sure the coast was clear. He exited first, sighing softly at the feel of gentle grass beneath his fingers. He smiled at the sound of gentle bells ringing. As he turned to help her out. His worst fears came alive. Misuki began crawling through the entry. Just as she was about to get out. A black scaly hand snuck out and grabbed her leg. Dragging her back in against her will. She screamed in fright and jumped when Hiro grabbed her hand. He was half in the passage way, holding on to the stone entry for extra support. Her eyes gazed at him, reflecting the fear aching in his chest. He yelled her name as she was torn from his grasp and dragged down a tunnel. Tempting to go after her, he found himself lost and unaware of where to go. A cry of frustration left him and then his fist collided with the tunnel wall. He crawled out of the passage way and fell on to the grass. Heavy breaths heaving in and out of his mouth. He had to get her back. Misuki screamed at the demon dragging her. Throwing small balls of energy at it. Her wing dragging a long the rocky grounds. She winced and clenched her teeth. Using even her hands to claw at it's back and face. It stopped in a open area where the five tunnels met. Grabbing her by the throat and biting in to her injured wing. Grinning with delight at her screams of pain. Misuki felt the rage burning through her veins. Her right heel collided with the Demond's eye. Then a large blast following right after. She hit the ground once the claws let go of her. Biting her lip and ignoring the blood oozing from her wing. She started crawling back in to the tunnels. Hoping to get further away from the demon laying still on the ground. She whimpered and dragged her way through the tunnel. Black strands of hair sticking to her face. Her fingernails bloody and dirty. " HIRO!!!!! "
Chapter 18 " Fallen friends " Segaru groaned as he picked himself up off the ground. The grass beneath him soiled with blood and sweat. He extended his wings out and jumped out of the way of a blast. It nearly clipped his right wing. He returned the blast with one of his own. Tasha hovered near by him. Just barely keeping up with the battle. Within minutes she was no longer in view. He craned his head to the side to look for her. Her vibrant blue hair no where in sight. The battle field was over crowded with angels battling the gruesome demons invading their territory. Body parts were strewn here and there. Feathers decorating the ground in certain places. It was hard to tell at the moment, which side was winning. In the end, they would all lose. In numbers, both were losing comrades and warriors. Was it really worth it? Tasha flew past him suddenly. Her bow arched back, firing arrow after arrow at a couple of demons. A red fire ball knocked her off her pedestal of arrogance. She barely had time to dodge it once another came from the side. Segaru let his guard down momentarily, " TASHA!! ", He yelled out at her, witnessing her down fall. His heart clenching at the scene unfolding. Tasha spiraled down and crashed to the ground. She remained unmoving, her hair burnt at the ends. Face hidden behind once vibrant blue hair. Her eyes closed to a vicious world fighting around her. Segaru punched a demon attacking him from the side. After kicking it away, he flew to her side. His arms enveloping her and pulling her close. He gently brushed her hair from her face. Noticing the blood streaming from the side of her mouth. Her face suffered second degree burns as did her body. He gently nudged her, whispering softly in to her ear. She remained still in his arms, no longer able to respond. His bottom lip quivered as the tears froze in his eyes, " Tasha...", he mumbled softly, stroking her cheek. She was gone, no life was left in her. Stifling the sorrow that screamed to make its way out. He carried her off to the side. Then laid her body where it would not be disturbed behind a tree. He took one last look at her broken face and took off towards the battle field. His rage he used to his advantage. Delivering upon several demons attacking. His heart void of any emotion. The last of it having been torn from him. His soul cried for justice. Anna pulled her sword from its sheath. She had to aid them in battle. With that in mind, she entered the battle field. Her sword delivering blow upon blow to the enemies. For the sake of their future and the future of earth. They had to fight with every ounce of their being. That was their job, to defend and protect. Humans had no clue how much they sacrificed for them. The pain they endured to keep them safe from harm. Safe from their souls being ripped from their bodies. The devil had every intention to burn the souls. To make humans his slave for eternity. Derive his will on to the universe and reign. It wanted to pleasure in the screams and pain of others. Anna stumbled near Segaru during battle. Her sword slicing off another demon head, " Segaru! Where is Tasha?!? ", She hollered over to him, struggling to keep back another wave of demons. Segaru bit back an angry growl and blasted back the demons, " She's gone, Anna! ", He yelled back, his tears hidden well from sight. His heart stinging again at his loss. Anna turned her head to stare at him incredulously. She couldn't believe her ears. One if their top trained warriors had gone down in battle. She bit back her sadness to continue on in battle. A dark green scales demon snuck up behind her. Chomping down on her shoulder and drawing blood. It held on as she screamed and slashed at it with her sword. " Angels should die or serve our master. You will not win, so give up. ", It snarled out and wrapped its four arms around Anna's body. Anna struggled to move from it. A scream ripping from her throat, as the demon crushed her ribs. She choked on the blood spurting up in to her throat. Segaru let out a battle cry. He charged towards Anna and slashed the demon behind her to pieces. His eyes shifted to Anna's pale face. She fell in to his arms just as the four arms collapsed away from her body. Anna breathed shallowly, " S-Segaru...you..must...keep fighting...we..can't..we mustn't..give in..", She said hoarsely and turned her gaze up to the sky. A light rain began to drizzle down upon the battle field. It's cold drops mixed in with the deep crimson on the ground. It preserved it from drying up too quickly. Segaru gazed down at Anna, observing her with a weakening heart. He was losing another friend he held dear. He grimaced at her coughing up blood, his hold tightening. Anna smiled slightly at the rain dropping down on to her face. It cooled the heat in her body and froze her down to the core. She had given up everything to help protect everyone. She felt no regret letting go. She had given her all in battle, even though she wanted to give more. Sometimes things happened that they had no power over. Her eyes drifted to stare at Segaru, her breaths slowly stopping to freeze in her throat. Segaru watched a small tear slip from her open eyes. His facade crumbled and he moved his hand to close her eyes. Misuki crawled slowly down the tunnel. Her wing dragging a long with her. She whimpered and bit her lip from crying. She had to give it more time to heal. Though sitting around in one place was not an option. Her throat was dry and her eyes moist with tears. Her beautiful white wings tainted in some places with blood. She dug her nails in to the ground and continued dragging herself forward. A light at the end of the tunnel was her hope to keep going. Hiro made the decision to go back down the tunnel after her. His amber eyes squinting in the dark. The light beaming in did little to help once he got further in. The sound of movement close by put him on edge. He reached for his gun and directed it at the opposite direction. His heart raced like it was going a thousand miles a minute. All he could do was wait and watch. The figure got closer to him. It seemed to stop to catch its breath. Then the movement forward began again. He took a breath and got ready to fire. He nearly pulled the trigger until a female cry sounded from the figure. His heart nearly stopped at the sound, " M-Misuki?! ", He whispered with hope lacing his voice. He was rewarded with a light sob. Misuki heard his voice, and if seemed like the most heavenly sound she's ever heard. Especially now given the circumstances, " Hiro..", She replied back brokenly. He rushed forward towards her. His hands grabbing hers to help her. She was grateful for the help, her lack of energy wearing her down. Once they managed to get out back in to the sunlight and rain. They held on to each other and attempted to catch their breaths. The rain slowly came down heavier and with a vengeance. Hiro brushed his fingertips across her cheek. His eyes seeking her gaze, unable to fully take in. The fact that she was here, back in his arms. Misuki felt her chin being tilted up. She raised her glazed over eyes to stare at him. Tears stained her cheeks, though the rain hid her tears well. A small smile formed on her lips. She watched his expression calm and the softness reach his eyes. His lips sought hers feverishly and she responded passionately. Just for a second they could feel. For the time being, they could relish this feeling. Until they had to return to battle.
