Chapter 7 " So we meet again " Kaiko frowned in irritation as neither company answered. She cleared her throat loudly, " Hiro, do you know her? From the looks you two are exchanging I assume so. Care to explain? ", She inquired as she watched them with interest. Hiro shifted uncomfortably and knelt down, picking up the dropped carrot to hand it back to Misuki. She reached out hesitantly to take it from him. Their fingers brushed just slightly during the passing of the vegetable. Static electricity flowed between the short contact. Misuki's eyes widened in surprise, avoiding the curious look he gave her. She just barely noticed the curious and surprised emotions in his eyes. He hide it quickly just as it came to the surface. Trudging forward and maneuvering around the shorter girl. He moved to stand in front if the sink to wash his hands, " I took her to the hospital after I found her disorientated. That's all there is to it. What is she doing here? ", He stated in a as a matter of fact tone. His eyes drifted from the water dripping from his fingertips to run down the drain with the water running from the faucet. Locking his eyes with Kaiko's, eyebrow arched slightly. Now he was questioning her actions. The blonde narrowed her eyes at him, " Well that would explain why I found her laying on the ground. She must have left the hospital after you left then. I brought her here after she passed out. I couldn't just leave her there. ", She answered back snappily. They looked up to hear the front door close. Turning on their heels to see Misuki gone and the apron she wore resting on the counter. Hiro growled, " Where is she disappearing to? ", He grumbled out, moving forward towards the front door before Kaiko could respond. Grabbing the blue stripped umbrella by the door. He was back out in to the cold rainy weather in a matter of seconds. Kaiko stood quietly in the kitchen, mouth agape in mid scold. His actions took her by surprise, " Hiro...what's so special about this girl that you barely know her but chase after when she leaves? ", She murmured to herself. Biting down lightly on her thumb nail. Misuki's tiny frame shook, taking sheltered under a small roof infront of a Chinese restaurant down the street from the apartment building. Her eyes gazed at the small drops of rain falling, that caused such a big shower on the city. The winds shifted and moved more inwards. Taking the young woman by surprise, as she turned her face away from being pelted by rain. It only lasted for a minute, and then something stopped it. She looked back to find him standing there in front of her with an umbrella shielding them. He looked quite annoyed with her. A sigh escaped her lips, head lowering alittle. Hiro shook his head and placed his hand on her lower back, " Why did you leave the hospital? The whole point for it is to help you. ", He grumbled out to her, gently urging her towards the apartment. Misuki shivered and stayed close beside him to remain sheltered, " I don't like hospitals. They scare me, too many people die in them. ", She said softly, her eyes staring at the ground. He released a heavy sigh, watching her from the corner if his eye. The girl seemed strange, but he couldn't blame her for disliking the hospital, " I don't like them either. ", He said to her as they continued walking. A small giggle bubbled up and out of her mouth. She was surprised to see a guy actually show some sort of fear for something that didn't seem like they'd be scared of. She closed her mouth and swallowed alittle after receiving a glare from him. This time his gaze wasn't so harsh or accusing. They walked in silence on the walk back. She suddenly stopped short if the stairs, back tensing. He glanced down at her in confusion. A ball of fire hurdled at them suddenly from our of thin air. Misuki shoved him to the stairs and shielded him from the debris that crumbled from the now broken wall beside them. She turned enough to glance over her shoulder. Her senses high and alertness up. Hiro gazed up at her with wide eyes, " What the hell was that?! ", he yelled in surprise. Misuki cried out as another fire ball was sent in their direction. Slamming in to her back and scorching the back of her shirt. Tears of pain sprung up in her eyes. She held her body over him, refusing to allow any harm to come to him. Even as he yelled for her to move out of worry for her. A thing that seemed like a tall man appeared behind Misuki. A sneer on his face, black wings folding behind his back. He looked like a real gentlemen with his black and white suit. His red eyes said other wise. Black ear length hair and a half bang falling in to his line of vision. Just as she was about to sit up to retaliate. He charged forward and rammed the heel of his expensive looking shoe in to her lower back. Forcing her back over Hiro with a cry of pain. " So pathetic. Move out of my way, i will deal with you once I get what I came for wench. ", He snarled out from sharp looking white teeth. Hiro glared at the man standing directly behind Misuki, " Move out of the way damnit! Are you insane!? He'll kill you! ", he shouted at her over the loud pelting of rain and monstrous booming of thunder. She had her eyes shut tight. Clenching her jaw and holding back a scream. Eyes slowly opening, she gazes in to his eyes, " I won't let anything bad happen to you. I'll die first before I let that happen. ", She whispered by his ear, having still been bent over him to shield. Her eyes saddened, watching him stare back at her in shock. Ariel growled in impatience, reaching over to pull her back by her hair, " You are an annoyance who apparently can't wait her turn. I'll finish you now and be done with it. ", He cackled out, his sword drawing out from it's sheath on his side. He raised the sword above his head, attempting to bring the pointed end of the sword down in to her chest. Hiro leaped forward and threw a punch at his jaw. A round house kick to the face followed after. Misuki was released and fell to her hands and knees. She forced herself to her feet, " No!! ", Dhe cried out, catching sight of Ariel gripping his sword and shoving it forward towards Hiro's shoulder. She shoves herself forward and jumped in between the two men. Ariel's black Mage sword pierced her skin and sliced cleanly through her shoulder. It came out the other end, just missing Hiro's chest by inches. Tears streamed from her eyes as she gazed at Hiro. She couldn't let him die, he was her mission. Hiro yelled out to her and caught her in his arms as the sword was yanked back out of her shoulder. He held her to his chest, eyes burning with fury that he felt flowing in his veins. Ariel chuckled with amusement, drawing his sword to his mouth. His tongue jetted out to taste some of the blood dripping from his sword, " Ah..much too sweet for my tastes but I'll enjoy killing her. ", he remarked with a smirk. He could tell Hiro was readying to attack him again. A black ball of fire connected with Ariel's head. Sending him sprawling out in to the damp streets. Heels tapped against the pavement towards the fallen demon. A low growl escaping the new comer, " This is not your play. It is mine, back off or I will take you out. ", The other person arriving on scene said with malice. .........
Chapter 8 " Fear of losing you " Hiro glanced up from the male demon on the ground, to the young woman standing just feet from him. He held Misuki close to him, cringing at the feel of blood soaking his navy blue shirt. His eyes remained focused on the new comer. The female demon stood with her hands in her hips. Eyes glaring hatefully at the other demon. Her midnight black wings arched outwards. Ruby red lips curled in to a snarl. Black hair cascading slightly out of the clip. That held it up in to a slight ponytail and braided at the ends. Her uniform looked similar to the demon on the ground. She clicked her tongue, " Get out of my face now. ", She said hatefully, blasting a black fire ball at Ariel's ribs as warning. Ariel growled in frustration and picked himself up off the ground. Brushing off any debris particles from his neatly pressed suit, " I'm not done. But I will be back, no one ever said you were allowed to hog l the fame to yourself. ", he said while his wings spread out behind him. Giving Hiro and Misuki one last dirty look, he took off in to the skies. Wind howling sharply from the sudden take off. Hiro squares his shoulders, preparing to shield Misuki in case another fight was to ensue. Speaking of which, he glanced down at her for a second. Her skin was pale than normal. Hazel eyes closed off to the world, heart beat faint. As if sensing his sudden change in demeanor. The demon took several steps towards him. Halting just as quick, when she caught herself staring down the barrel of a gun. She smirked. Hiro narrowed his gaze on her. Having always kept a gun on himself. He was prepared to defend, " Stay away from her. ", He said in warning. The black haired demon chucked, " I would be more worried about myself if I were you. That girl is going to die anyways. You might aswell accept that. But we have plans for you. ", she replied with a smirk. One eyebrow arched, she sneered at his bewildered expression. Deciding she had enough time playing, she departed quickly from their presence and disappeared. Hiro waited until they were both gone. His messy bangs falling in to his eyes, bending down to lift the hazel eyed girl in to his arms. His gun shifted in to his side just alittle below the waist band of his jeans. He held her while he ran in to the apartment building he was currently staying in. He made sure to avoid the neighbors. They were always big talkers and he didn't want them asking questions. They slipped in to the apartment, undetected by anyone. He called out to the first person he thought could help, " Kaiko!! Come quick with your medical kit! " , He shouted loud enough for Kaiko to hear.
To all my lovely readers, thank you so much for your support. You encourage me to keep writing. ---------------------------- Chapter 8 " Fear of losing you " Continuation.. Kaiko rounded the corner with a white box held safely in her arms. Her rain colored eyes dulled as she entered the living room. Just from the look he gave her, she knew it was bad. She caught drops of blood on the carpet. They lead from the door to the girl in his arms. She casually stepped closer and instructed him to lay her down. Tossing a towel on the couch to prevent blood staining it. Just as he laid Misuki down, Kaiko was at their side in seconds. Pressing another towel to the back of her shoulder, and another to the front. Misuki barely looked like she was alive. She had lost a lot of blood due to the deep puncture wound in her shoulder. Her lips paling to a light blue, skin becoming cold to the touch. Her beautiful hazel eyes shielded behind heavy eyelids and long black lashes. Hiro glanced from Kaiko to Misuki, " Kaiko, you were a doctor before. Is she going to survive? ", He asked in concern, holding the towels in place. While Kaiko began pulling out medical supplies. Kaiko frowned in his direction, " If I can get the wound closed quickly enough. But take in to consideration that the girl has lost a lot of blood. What the hell happened?!? You leave for nearly fifteen minutes and come back like this?! ", She yelled at him on the last part. Pulling out what looked like a needle and something else. Hiro lowered his gaze to Misuki's angelic face, " Someone..some..thing attacked us. She protected me from it..and it's my fault she's like this. The..man or whatever it was, was more beast like than anything else. I have no idea what it was. But she saved my life, I owe her. ", He replied back softly, brushing a strand of hair from the younger girl's face. Kaiko glanced over at him frowning, " So a creature attacked you? What the hell...Nevermind that. Get some fresh towels and let me work. You and I will discuss this further when I get done. ", She snapped at him, shooing him away when it seemed he wouldn't budge. She looked over her shoulder to make sure he left the room. Turning her attention fully back to the young lady laying on the couch. She sighed lightly and got to work on sewing up the wounds. It took nearly two hours, to make sure the wound was completely closed and blood cleaned. A fresh hot towel placed on Misuki's forehead and a blanket laid over her once the towels were removed. Kaiko stepped in to the kitchen and turned on the faucet. Rinsing the blood from her nails, and cleaning the dry blood under her finger nails. Her eyes watching her reflection in the red water. She soaped up her hands, washing away germs and blood from her skin. Hiro leaned the back of his hips against the counter. Having just made a pot of coffee, " Kaiko, is she alright? ", He inquired from the silent blonde. " Only time will tell if it will stay closed and heal. She seems like a strong girl, she'll pull through. Now..I want a full explanation. ", She replied to him, shutting off the water and drying her hands on a clean towel. Turning around to fully face him with looks to kill. A cup of hot coffee was placed in front of her. Her shoulders sagged forward slightly, forcing down a small smile, " Thank you. ", She said gratefully, holding the hot cup in between her cold hands. It warmed her numb fingers quickly. A sigh of relief and then another look in his direction. He adverted his gaze away from her piercing one. Taking a small sip from his coffee cup, then he started to explain from the time they left the apartment to the time they came back. He would never forget the look on her face. Misuki shifted uncomfortably on the couch, deep in slumber. Perspiration sliding down the side of her face. She clenched the blanket in her hands. Fighting a war within herself. Being pulled in to a never ending nightmare of war and chaos. The living world melted away before her eyes. Replaced by cave walls, metal cells and heat waves. She shielded her eyes as the tall torch beside her burst in to life. Wincing at the bright contrast to the darkness surrounding her. Her blue green eyes struggled to adjust to the sudden change. A creature with black wings slowly emerged from the shadows. Teeth showing like sharp icicles, " Dear sweet angel..you finally came to play. ", It growled out lowly, stepping fully out to reveal a bony like structure. A monstrous face that seemed like it was carved out of a horror movie. Eyes sunken in and black at night. She took a step back from it, " I'm not here to play with you demon. Why have you summoned me here?! ", She replied coldly, keeping distance between them. The smell of rotting death to her nostrils, was something she would never forget. It stepped forward with large claw like feet, one of it's clawed hands reeled back and hit her across the face. Smirking in triumph as it heard a loud crack from her colliding with the cave wall, " Do not talk down to me. I have been around much longer than you. Give up the boy and I'll make sure your death is quick. ", It grumbled up, towering over her crumbled form. She winced at the burning pain in her shoulder. Forcing herself up on to her knees, " I will never give him to you. ", She hissed at him through clenched teeth. It growled and lunged forward on her. Wrapping a hand around her throat, squeezing the air from her lungs. It moved it's face an inch from hers, " You will have no choice. I'll be sure to kill you in front of him. Crush his hopes and faith, before I come for him after. You are very stupid for believing you can over come us. Die angel. ", It snarled out and nearly cracked every bone in her neck. Misuki was suddenly ripped from the dream. Drawn back to reality. The demon snarled out in frustration, having had its play toy ripped away. She groaned softly and opened her eyes a little. Turning her head slightly as she caught sound of two people talking. She recognized the voices as belonging to Hiro and Kaiko. Tears blurred her vision, pain ripping through her right shoulder. Kaiko stepped in to the living room. Talking to Hiro in a more hushed voice as to not disturb Misuki. She turned her head to check on the girl. Gasp escaping her, hazel eyes gazed back at her. Hiro's eyebrows knotted together in confusion. Moving his attention to where she was gazing. He caught sight of her gaze. Immediately moving to kneel by her side and press a hand to her pale cheek. Her lips moved but no sound came out. Just as quick as she awoke, her eyes closed again and she slipped back in to unconsciousness. Kaiko moved closer to lean over and check her wounds, " Hiro change the towel on her head. It seems she's stronger than I originally thought. ", She murmured gently to her companion. Her eyes followed him as he stepped away and out of the room to fetch a fresh damp towel. But not before he glanced over Misuki one last time. A frown etched her lips, turning her full attention back to the younger girl, " Don't get attached Hiro. ", She whispered softly to herself.
Chapter 9 'We all have our heart breaks' Kaiko leaned against the hallway wall. Directly across from the wall Hiro was leaning in to. She had a tired look on her face, rain colored eyes shifting to gaze at his face. Her lips twitches slightly in a small smile. She observed the tiredness in his eyes, watching him rub his left eye with a small yawn escaping his lips. She knew he was tired just like her. They stayed up most of the day looking after the young girl sleeping on the couch. Who would have thought that such a young one could cause so much chaos around her within a short time. There were still things about her that were unknown. She didn't talk much about herself. Let alone any family she may have. She was like a muster book waiting to be read. " Kaiko...you should get some sleep. I'll look after her for the night. ", He mumbled sleepily in her direction. " Nonsense. You go to bed and get sleep. You've been through enough for one day. ", She replied back with a moments thought. Hiro glared at her stubbornness. Seeing her move to go back towards the living room. He grabbed her wrists and gently pushed her against the wall. " Kaiko, no. You tended her wounds, you've done enough. ", he growled out, tightening his grip a little as she began to struggle against his hold. She lifted her annoyed gaze to look at him. Her struggling ceased and her gaze softened. His face just inches from hers. She didn't know if he realized how close they were. But the sparks between them she felt. Was something she couldn't deny. Lifting herself up just enough to reach his lips. She leaned in and pressed her lips gently against his. A small noise at the back of his throat was all she heard. Then his lips slowly began to respond softly to her gestures. She slipped her hand to the back of his neck. Pulling him closer to her as she brushed her lips against his. He responded to each brush, each time alittle more passionately. It lasted a mere minute, then he pulled back from her. His hand moved to rub the back of his neck, " Kaiko...you should get some rest..", he murmured softly to her. Cheeks flushing slightly as she smiled and pressed a kiss to his cheek. He turned his head to watch her saunter off to her bedroom. Shoulders sagging once he heard the click of the door closing. He moved to quietly take a seat on the floor against the couch. Not noticing the younger girl's form having turned away from view. Failed to see the tears slip from closed eyes while she pretended to keep sleeping. She knew she had a mission to complete. But whoever said falling in love was part of that? She knew better, so it was her own fault for feeling the hurt she figured. Hiro sighed lightly and brought his knees up. Glancing over his shoulder to glance at his sleeping companion. Confusion crossed his face, he thought she was laying on her back before. Could she have...did she see them? Nah...she was sleeping..she had to have been. Besides what would it matter if she saw? She was a stranger..a stranger that saved his life...and maybe even wormed her way in to his heart. He shook his head and glared at the ceiling. Slowly his eyes closed against his will.
Chapter 9 ' We all have our heart breaks ' Continuation... Kaiko and Hiro were awoken to the smell of cooking eggs and bacon. The aroma forced them out of their hiding rooms and in to the kitchen. To their surprise, Misuki stood at the stove. Apron wrapped around her, wearing a cute pink dress that stopped just slightly above her knees and clean hair pulled in to a high ponytail. She hummed to herself softly and turned the coffee machine off. She watched Kaiko enough times to learn what to turn on and off and how to use certain machines. Everything was more updated than her life before on earth. She set two mugs out and poured fresh hot coffee in to each one. Stopping once it left half an inch room for cream. She set the mugs on to he table side by side. Moving to put her attention back on the sizzling food in the pans. Kaiko arched an eyebrow at her and took a seat at the table. Hiro took a seat across from her, an amused expression on his face. He chuckled softly watching Misuki try to flip a pancake. Seeing it got up in to the air and the surprised squeak follow after. He jumped out of his seat and grabbed her around the waist. Using his other hand to grab the pan and catch the pancake in it before it got any lower towards the ground. He smirked at her wide eyed look. Shrugging it off, he let her go and helped her set the plates after ignoring her shy protests for help. Nudging her gently to sit down, he sat beside her. Taking a bite of his breakfast. Kaiko snorted lightly and began to eat as did Misuki. It was quiet for awhile. Much too quiet. Hiro lifted his gaze and glanced back and forth between the two ladies. There was tension in the room, he didn't understand why. Misuki smiled sweetly and got up to wash dishes once breakfast was finished. Hiro sipped his coffee quietly, exchanging looks with Kaiko. " Why don't we take a walk around today. I think we all could use a breath of fresh air after yesterday. ", Kaiko suggested while getting to her feet. She disappeared back to her bedroom to get changed. Hiro stood up to help put the dishes away. Having already showered and changed before coming to the kitchen. He caught a dish slipping from Misuki's hand. She glanced at him in surprise of his quick reflexes. His eyes gazed in to her innocent ones. He leaned in slightly, moving closer to her while brushing the back of his knuckles against her cheek. Misuki lowered her head and moved herself away from him. She hasn't forgotten about what she saw last night and she doubted she would. She knew now that Kaiko had feelings for him. Atleast those two could be together after everything. She had to return to heaven if she survived the fight. " I'll get ready..thank you for helping me Hiro. ", she mumbled and slid out if the apron. Back turned to a confused Hiro while he watched her wall away from him. Kaiko returned to the living room with Misuki. Adorning a yellow halter top and dark blue jeans to match her yellow sandals. Hiro sighed lightly and followed the two as they led the way out of the house. Kaiko chatted with Misuki a few feet ahead of him. He didn't know where they were going to until they reached the city's park. An excited squeal was heard and then Misuki took off. Cooing softly at a squirrel poking its head out from the other side if the tree. She attempted to follow it around the tree. The squirrel sneakily followed her around it with it's tail twitching up and down. Kaiko laughed softly, " She is so curious and so full of life. It's amazing how much people don't enjoy the little things and take it for granted. ", she said with a smile. Rolling her eyes at Hiro's response which was all just a " Hn. ". They both say on a nearby park bench. Shoulders barely touching and hands rested in their laps. Watching Misuki run by getting chased by a duck, and then chasing the duck back laughing. Hiro chuckled, " We'll atleast she's enjoying herself. ", he said until the middle of the bench broke straight down the middle and collapsed beneath them. Kaiko rolled off in to his arms while he landed on his back wincing. Misuki skipped over to peer at them. The same squirrel from before sitting on her shoulder. She giggled and offered them a hand up. They got up with her help and then stopped to stare at the squirrel on her shoulder. It looked back at them with an equal stare and twitches it's nose. The young girl grinned, " It's my new friend, I call her Hazel. Can I keep her? ", she inquired with puppy dog eyes. Kaiko was ready to protest but Hiro was a step ahead of her and gave in. A growl erupting from the blonde as she happily hugged Hiro and skipped off to play with Hazel more. " Why did you let her keep it Hiro? " " Her innocence..her pureness..it's rare to see in people. I just want her to be happy. " Silence fell on them.
Aaahh, once again…this is awesome! But poor Misuki, I felt so sorry for her when she saw Kaikovand Hiro kissing…:O But the story still rocks! Keep it up Kitsume!
