Especially if you do not know the deceased.

 

I guess with a semi-celebrity everyone feels as though they know them. Or at least OF them, yeah.

 

Knowing ≠ Having heard of...unless you personally know a person, all you have is an idea painted by the media

You initially said "know them" and then added "atleast of them"...I didn't say you were wrong..just added an explanation to how people (maybe including u) are talking based on what little they know about a person, especially with an ex which seems like a pointless conversation from whatever angle u see it in my opinion...
