Mags, I think that to properly offer my opinion on this topic, I need to first ask you a counter question. What do you believe happens after death?
I dont know what happens.I think that either nothing happens and you are just gone, or maybe you are reborn as another person, but since there is no proof of that, and I believe what is proven I think that nothing at all happens, you die, your body decomposes, and you are gone
Well, for people who believe in being reborn as a new person, life never truly ends for them, does it? Many believe that if they do good things in life, they'll have a good life when they're reborn. If you believe a person is just gone... Well then why would you live life doing nothing? Death happens to everyone. For most people, they want to live a happy life because they only have one. You ask why people should do anything if they're going to die... But why should they do nothing if they're going to die?
Because if they die and are just gone then why should they have gone and done anything if everything they have done is pointless. If people just disappear once they die what was the point of being happy or unhappy? Their state of being would be irrelevant to their eventual outcome, nothing. So why should you strive to achieve anything, if ultimately all you have achieved will be gone.
Because that's no point not to. If your outcome is inevitable, you may as well make the best of what time you have. You're going to die no matter what, so you may as well be happy. No point in being upset or miserable.
