A Night to Remember

When I woke up I found myself lying against something warm. When I looked beside me I felt my face become flustered. Mr.Quinn was lying beside me, my head rested against his bare chest and his arm wrapped around me.

"Agh!" I shouted and I sat up and shook my head. "Oh my God!"

"Mmm... Jane?" Mr.Quinn opened his eyes and he looked at me. He smiled and then sat up himself. "Good morning," he said and he rubbed his eyes.

"M-morning," I replied.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"Nothing."

"My arm feels cramped," he said and he stretched it. "How weird. I don't think I slept on it wrong. Haha."

"That's because you weren't the one who slept on it," I muttered.

"Hm? Did you say something?"

"N-no!" I laughed nervously. "Anyways, I better go... I need to go home quickly and tell my sister what happened. I bet she's really worried," I said and I hastily got out of the bed. My heart was pounding in my chest and the anxiety of being here with Mr.Quinn set off on its own trail.

I gasped when he grabbed my pajama shirt.

"Yes?"

"I don't... I don't want you to be upset anymore. I was serious last night. If you want to talk I'm all ears. I want to be there for you. Not just as your teacher but as your friend."

I blushed. "O-okay..."

He smiled as then let go of my shirt. "Good."

I smiled back at him. "Thank you for your concern. It does mean something to me," I said and then I left the room. I felt my heart pound in my chest and I lifted a hand to my forehead. I leaned my back against the wall and slowly slipped down. I felt sick... but in a way, I felt happy.

"Jane?"

Startled, I looked up to see Mr.Quinn. "Ah! Mr.Quinn!"

"Jane... why are you on the floor?" he asked. He smirked and walked passed me. "I thought you were going home?"

"I was! I mean I am! Oh my god! Don't confuse me!" I shouted angrily and I stood up. I brushed past him and he laughed.

"Confuse you?"

"Never mind," I said and I quickly ran for the front door. "I'll see you at school in a few hours!" I shouted as I opened the door. I slammed it shut behind me. As I was walking I suddenly realized... I wanted to see him... I wanted to see him as soon as possible. My chest ached just thinking about him.

"Where the hell were you last night?!" demanded Rebecca.

Just as I had thought... she had stayed up all night waiting for me to come home. She sat on a chair right in front of the door.

"Rebecca..."

"Well? Aren't you going to answer?"

"I was at Mr.Quinn's for the night... he let me sleep over," I said quietly. "It was purely innocent and I am grateful to him for supporting me."

"He's not just supporting you because you're special. It's because you're his student."

"You're wrong."

"What?"

"He told me that he wanted to protect me. Be there for me... but not as a teacher, but as a friend," I said softly.

"He said that?" she shook her head. "You're still young... You don't understand his meaning. Teachers always say that so that their students will trust them and tell them anything. He just played you. He's a teacher Jane. You should be thinking more about the consequences of your actions then your teacher."

I felt somewhat pissed. But I understood what Rebecca meant... I even believed it for a minute. "Consequences?"

"You two... are closer than what a student and a teacher should be. Now I don't mean in that way. But normally, students and their teachers don't go out together or miss full days of school."

"It was one day!"

"But that's one more than what it should be."

I frowned. "You're impossible."

"I'm just doing my job as your older sister. I think it's for the best if you just forget about him in that sense and focus on your schooling. Understand?"

"Yes... I understand," I said. To be honest... I was kind of upset. I liked the friendship I was beginning to build with Mr.Quinn.
