Oreo, minor correction: I think you're looking at BLS for 1/2008, not 1/2009. If you scroll to the table, it shows unemployment at 7.8 percent. Additionally, people don't realize that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were not put on the ledger in the same way under Bush as under Obama, so a significant spike in the deficit can be traced to Obama's decision to make transparent those expenses that had been hidden in supplemental emergency appropriations bills. This is not to say that Obama is perfect. Just highlighting some distortions.
Also-- and this was a slick trick on his part, Obama promised to cut the yearly deficit in half from what it was under Bush (ie, if there was 1T deficit in 2008, Obama promised that deficit in 2012 would only be 500B). He did not promise to pay down our national debt by half -- I wish he had, and I wish he had accomplished it, but such is life. Now, the extent to which he's met his goal of reducing the yearly deficit is not a clean win for him either. You can fault him for that.
Last bit of clarity: deficit = yearly budget shortfall. Debt = total accumulation of all deficits. The More You Know

Unemployment when bush was in office had to be at least in the teens... The guy was a trainwreck and you all know it. Plus, why are you saying that it's bad that he didn't keep that promise? Take that back in Bush's first term you were probabaly younger than 5 years old If you're 17 now assuming subtract obama's 4 years that's 13, subtract bush's 8 that's 5... When he first went into office you were around 5 I don't think you should be talking about bush being a trainwreck.

We cannot do anything about it because no matter what we do at this point we will not decrease it, we will not get out of it. Romney, he will only lower the amount the government would make. And to blame it all on Bush, yeah we can blame it on him still. If it were not for Bush's adminiatration that allowed and made us get into the trouble we are now then Obama would not have needed to try so hard to try to fix it. Look at it this way: If I break my bike, it is my fault. If my dad tries to fix it but breaks it more because I before made it that bad. It was still my fault. Only difference is Bush got us in this mess and we are in this mess still. in th e Great Depression FDR did tons of spending to try to fix things only got worse before we got better. When bush was in office they actually spent money on things they should be... Military is something the governmnt should be spending money on but instead they try passing all these useless bills that are in the long teem gonna kill our country

Obama is rich, but he wants to be taxed and share his money. He also wants the rich business owners to pay more too. If the the people he are targetting, 250,000 anual income, if their money is taxed to 50%, then they would make the same amount of money anual as someone in the middle class with a very good well paying job before taxes are taken. Also, I do not think they need so much when food would be so cheap for them. The rich will not die if taxed more.
