Chapter 10- numbers It had been a month since that one night. We are continually seeing hyenas and they seem to have been getting more populous. "Forest," I said. "What?" he asked. "I love you," I said for the millionth time. "I love you too, sweetie," then we kissed. It still felt like time had stopped every time he kissed me. "So.... Breakfast?" he said when we were done kissing. "I found a couple berries, and a small carrot," I replied. "I found some edible bark," he said, not much today. "Well, let's eat!" I said, popping a berry into my mouth. It was sour and shriveled, but I couldn't ask for any more. Then, I spotted a hyena, and it was closer than usual. "Forest, we gotta run," I whispered. He looked at the hyena and we took off. The hyena was chasing us. We ran for a while, then hid under an abandoned car. The hyena passed the car. I noticed something I hadn't noticed all this time, Near the shoulder of the front right leg, was a number. The number was 67. "Emma," I breathed.
Chapter 11- Theory "So, they were not killed, they turned into hyenas? That would be creepy..." Forest said as I explained my new theory about the hyenas. "Which would be explainable because we never saw them killing, they appeared to only drag them off," I continued. "Then why weren't we found?" He asked. "Maybe because we were in a confined space or something," I guessed. There could've been hundreds of answers. "We should go see if any government files were left untouched," He suggested. "No," I said," I know somewhere better." "Where?" He asked. "My parents and a couple other people were studying this event, and this guy... I think Dr. Hill was his name, he kept a secret file space, totally devoted to this subject," I replied, remembering more of what I overheard. "And where is it?" Forest asked. "It's under an old ice-cream shop in the mountains somewhere," I replied. "Well, that's not much to go on," Forest replied. "That's why we should start looking now," I replied.
