The battle list isn’t useful, and the best way to find targets is actually through the tutors menu. You can find people around your own cs by setting the search price to your own hire price, and the menu also helpfully shows their stats so you know who you can land hits on. There’s also no requirement that your targets have to be active, and this method also works pretty well for finding inactive players to farm since inactivity doesn’t remove you from the tutor menu.
